2 SAFETY WARNINGS
2.1 General safety regulations
Risks associated with using the riveter
DO NOT underestimate the risks associated with the use of the riveter. Concentrate on the
work that is taking place.
Risks associated with using the riveter
Each and every person who is responsible for the use and maintenance of the device should
first have read the instruction manual, particularly the chapter dealing with safety.
It is recommended that the plant safety manager get written confirmation of the above.
Risks associated with using the riveter
During all phases, proceed with great caution in order to avoid damage to persons,
property or the riveter itself.
Please only use the riveter for its envisaged uses.
Risks associated with using the riveter
Before starting any work on the riveter, the operator must wear the appropriate personal
protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves and eye protection.
1. Always check the efficiency and integrity of the riveter.
2. Do not make demands of the riveter in excess of its design limits. Only use the riveter
in the manner in which it was intended, as described in this instruction manual.
3. Work without disturbances.
4. Always wear eye protection and protective gloves while working.
5. Wear appropriate clothing. Loose clothing, dangling jewellery, long hair, etc.., can get
caught in the moving parts, causing irreparable injury.
6. It is recommended that users of this publication, for maintenance and repair, have a
basic knowledge of mechanical principles and of repair technique
procedures.
7. It is forbidden to use flammable solvents and/or gasoline to clean the
tool.

3 DESCRIPTION OF THE TOOL AND INTENDED USE
The Riveter is a tool created for the implementation of threaded rivets to permanently
connect two or more pieces of sheet metal. The inner part of the rivets used by this tool is
threaded, it therefore possible to use the threaded hole for the connection of additional
sheets or mechanical parts via the use of a screw.
The Riveter is supplied with several rods of different threaded diameters, between M3 and
M6.

4 SUBSTITUTING THE ROD
Before it is possible to use the tool it is necessary to install the appropriate threaded rod
according to the type of rivets to be mounted. The riveter can mount threaded rods M3, M4,
M5, M6.
1. Unscrew the rod guide nut that is currently
mounted on the body of the rivet using a
number 18 wrench.
Figure 3 - Removal of the guide nut.
2. With the tool supplied pull the casing of the threaded rod back and unscrew the screw
the rod manually until it can be removal
Figure 4 - Removal of the threaded rod.
3. After choosing the threaded rod which is
suitable for the rivet to be installed, pull
the casing back again, with the supplied
tool, and tighten the rod by hand. To
position the rod perfectly, rotate the knob
at the rear of the riveter to insert the hex
end of the rod into the casing in which it is
housed. Figure 5 - Substitution of the threaded
rod.
4. Re-screw the rod guide nut corresponding to the rod mounted using a number 18
spanner.

5 USING THE RIVETING TOOL
1. Mount and screw the rivet onto the rod of the riveter. Screw the rivet most of the
length of the threaded part of the rod. However, do not screw the rivet until it touches
the guide nut because it will make the operation of the riveting tool impossible
Figure 6 – Mounting the rivet
Inserting the rivet
Always screw the rivet onto the Riveter with the handles open.
2. Insert the rivet into the holes that are to be riveted together.

3. Press the handles together to insert the rivet into the hole. Briefly apply firm pressure
on the handles. Use the rear knob of the riveting tool to further tighten the rod of the
rivet for 2-3 full threads at a time and then proceed to re-press the handles together.
Repeat the procedure until the rivet is perfectly fixed.
Figure 8 – Securing the rivet
4. Use the rear knob to unscrew the riveter rod from the rivet. The rivet is now properly
in place. It is possible to use the internal thread of the rivet to attach other sheets or
objects of various kinds to the hole.
