energy limiter for FAI F1Q class
This device comp ies with the atest FAI F1Q ru es and is compatib e with most current F1Q e-
Timers. It monitors the energy consumed by the motor and, if the set energy imit is reached,
issues a motor cutoff signa that is hand ed by the e-Timer.

HOW IT WORKS
Assuming the imiter is wired as shown in the fo owing, on battery connection it wi disp ay

L ( se f-ca ibration) for about 5 seconds. During this period the unit eva uates the amount of the
current f ow to the ESC, e-Timer and servo(s) system in id e state and with motor off.
On se f-ca ibration comp etion the unit brief y f ashes the programmed energy imit (e.g. 2750

then the disp ay switches to the current va ue ( 0000

0000 ) for the consumed energy. The imiter is
ready.
The unit starts counting the consumed energy as soon as the e-Timer start-switch is re eased
whi e the motor is running. During energy counting the imiter disp ays the current va ue for the
consumed energy whi e it gets incremented.
When the programmed energy imit is reached, the imiter issues the motor cut-off signa for the e-
Timer and a ternate y disp ays the energy amount and the motor cut-off time (e.g. 2750

This visua ization remains unti the battery is disconnected or if the motor is started again.

PRO RAMMIN THE CONSUMED ENER Y LIMIT
The consumed energy imit is user-programmab e whi e the unit is in the mode and wired as
shown in the fo owing. Locate the programming pushbutton c ose to the right upper corner of the
disp ay and fo ow these easy steps:
•connect the battery and wait for the end of the imiter se f-ca ibration (disp ay showing 0000

then re ease it: the programmed amount wi f ash
•press and ho d the pushbutton to increment the va ue quick y, or press and re ease it mu tip e
times to have increments of 1 count. Re ease the pushbutton a itt e before getting to the
wished va ue and reach it with consecutive sma increments. The va ue can on y be
incremented, however once reached the maximum a owed va ue ( 2750

Notes for Sidus F1Q e-Timer users
Despite the motor run time is set by the imiter, the motor duration shou d be programmed on the
e-Timer to hand e the event that the energy imit is not reached. Just program the motor time to a
va ue onger than the expected imiter cut-off time.
When the programmed energy imit is reached, the timing on the Sidus e-Timer jumps to the
expiration of the programmed motor run and the fo owing functions are executed with no
changes. This wi preserve the schedu e set for the transition from c imb to g ide and guarantee a
smooth hand ing of the motor cutoff. A so the tota programmed DT time wi be preserved.
