Fabric Care
100% Cotton
These wraps are a joy to maintain, simply
•
Wash in cool water on gentle or low spin
•
Low tumble dry/line dry if desired (we recommend not using a dryer
sheet)
•
Iron as desired
To avoid snags, tangles and heartbreak, take the time to put your wrap in a
pillowcase or laundry bag before washing.
Cotton will shrink with the first wash and we take that into account when we
size your wrap. To minimize shrinking, be sure to always use cold wash/low
heat settings.
Store your wraps away from direct sunlight and in such a way that it is not
prone to snags. In other words please do keep your wrap away from sharp
edges, zippers, or other dangerous to fabric things. ou do not need to wash
your wrap before use.
Getting Started
Learning to use the woven wrap carrier takes practice for both the wrapper and
the wrappee. Here are some Fireweed Baby tips and guidelines to get started.
•
Start with a well rested baby and mom (ha!).
•
Take the time to get comfortable with your wrap and the way it feels, the
way it pulls over your shoulders and how it tightens and ties into a knot. Use a
doll/teddy bear or rice bag to get a feel for your carry.
•
Practice in front of the mirror, over a soft surface, with or with a spotter..
Remember that the spotter may need as much practice as the wrapper.

Fireweed Front Wrap Cross Carry (FFWCC)
Choose a FFWCC when you are a beginning wrapper to hone your
skills or when you are carrying a baby from birth to approximately
12 months
.
1) Locate the centre of your wrap
2)
Center the wrap over your chest

7
3) Gather the wrap in each hand, bringing it across your chest. Cross it over
your back
4) Place one end (they are now called the tails of the wrap) over each
shoulder.

8
5) Pick up your baby and place her on your shoulder. Always hold your baby
until he is held in place securely by the wrap. Slide your other hand up
under the wrap so you can guide your baby’s body down into the wrap.
6) With one hand on your baby at all times, pull the fabric into place over her
bottom and up over her shoulders.

9
7) Tighten each tail securely by lifting the tail off your shoulder and pulling it
until it is wrapped tightly across your back. One hand must stay on your
baby at all times while you are tightening the wrap.
8) The tightened tails are brought down on each side of your baby and crossed
underneath her bottom.

10
9) Take one tail under each leg. This creates an X that keeps your baby in
place.
10) Tie the tails in a double knot on your back

11
11) our Fireweed Front Wrap Cross Carry is finished!

Before you Back Carry:
•
-Be expert at using your wrap in a front carry
•
-Have a spotter on hand to help you keep your child in place until the
wrap is secured
•
-Remember to always keep one hand on your child to hold him in place
while tying the wrap.
•
-Continue to monitor your child at all times while they are in a back carry
Fireweed Double Hammock Back Carry
Recommended for babies 12Months +
1) This carry starts off centre. Find the centre of your wrap and hold
your wrap about 2 feet off centre. Leaving one “tail” longer than
the other.

13
2) Position your baby on your back, being sure to keep one hand on
your baby at all times. In this picture, we are demonstrating a hip
scoot.
3) When you have your baby in position, be sure to spread the fabric
snuggly over your baby and ensure you tuck fabric between you
and your baby.

14
4) ou should have a seat that spreads across your baby’s back, from
his shoulders down past his knees, like this
5) Holding the “long” tail between your knees, pull the “short” tail
over your shoulder. Keep your baby held securely to you by
holding him tight with the wrap at all times.

15
6) Tighten the tail until you feel you have pulled out all the slack and
pin the “short” tail between your legs. (Pictured in 7)
7) After placing the “short” tail in between your knees, you will now
create a chest pass with your “long” tail. Pull the long tail across
your chest, under the “short” tail and around your baby and over
your uncovered shoulder.

16
8) ou will now have both tails over your shoulders, with multiple
passes over your baby. Take this time to work out the slack along
both rails (top and bottom seam) and ensure you have a good
seat and a comfortable fit.
9) Once you have removed the slack, you are ready to finish and
secure your carry. Pull the tails under your arms, over the baby’s
legs.

17
10) Cross the tails in a simple twist, this creates the X under
your baby’s bum that keeps your baby in place.
11) ou can now pass the tails under your baby’s legs, and back
to the front around your waist

18
12) Secure the two rails together with a double knot.
