COMBO ALARM
First Alert Model GCO1 is a 120V AC plug-in with battery back-up single station
carbon monoxide and explosive gas (propane and natural/methane) combination
alarm specifically designed for residential and institutional applications including
sleeping rooms of hospitals, hotels, motels, dormitories, and other multifamily
dwellings as defined in standard NFPA 101. Model GCO1 has been fully tested
and complies with, UL1484, UL2034 and other agencies that model their codes
after the above agencies. It meets building codes where 120V AC plug-in digital
display with battery back-up carbon monoxide and explosive gas combination
alarms are required.
FirstAlert Model GCO1 is a state of the art carbon monoxide and explosive gas
combination alarm designed to provide early warning of a carbon monoxide,
propane or methane gas danger.It features an advanced electrochemical CO
sensor and a metal oxide explosive gas sensor with an EZ view backlit digital
display. It plugs in easily into any standard 120VAC outlet.The line cord allows
for convenient mounting options where methane requires unit to be mounted up
high and propane should be mounted low. Carbon monoxide mounting location is
not height sensitive as CO disperses evenly throughout the house.The peak level
function allows for easy viewing of highest gas levels detected. It has a 9V
alkaline battery backup and a single button test/silence button.This alarm has
two silence features. Low Battery Silence:Temporarily silence the low battery
chirp for up to eight hours.Alarm Silence:Silence alarm for several minutes.The
alarm can also be silenced by using most Infrared (IR) remote controls.The End
of Life timer provides audible and visual notice when alarm needs to be
replaced.Battery installation and removal can occur while the unit is mounted to
the wall or plugged into the electrical outlet via the swing up battery cover.

INSTALLATION OF ALARM
The explosive gas/CO combination alarm shall be a First Alert Model GCO1 and shall
provide at a minimum the following features and functions:
1. An electrochemical CO sensor and a metal oxide explosive gas sensor.
2. The unit shall have a digital display with peak CO memory feature
3. The unit shall be capable of self restoring and provide an end of life timer.
4. 120V AC powered with a 9V alkaline battery backup and a solid state piezo horn
 rated at 85dB at 10 ft.
5. A visual green LED power-on indicator to confirm unit is receiving power. A visual 
 red indicator to show unit is alarm.
6. A full function test button should check all alarm functions by simulating an 
 explosive gas and CO condition, causing the unit to alarm.
7. Two Silence features - Low Battery Silence: Silence low battery chirp for up to 8 
 hours. Alarm Silence: Temporarily silence unwanted nuisance alarms.
8. An infrared remote (IR) feature to test and/or silence the alarm with most  
 standard IR remote controls.
9. The unit shall be capable of operating between 40°F (4°C) and
 100°F (38°C) and relative humidity between 10% and 95%.
10. The unit shall contain mounting hardware and shall be listed for wall
 mounting.
11. The unit shall at a minimum meet the requirements of UL1484, UL2034, NFPA 
 720, ICC.
Installation of this alarm must conform to NFPA 720. Always check your local building
codes. Follow all instructions for placement as outlined in the user’s manual.
