The reason that you’ve received
this In-Home Display (IHD)
and Smart Meters user guide
is because you’ve either been
transferred to our prepayment
energy plan or a Smart Meter
has recently been installed at
your property. The following
pages provide a guide to both

Your IHD
This IHD comes with a touchscreen function
that allows you to navigate around and monitor
your energy usage and credit (if you’re a
prepayment customer).

IHD

Let’s have a quick look at your IHD
If you’re seeing a dimmed screen just tap the screen to
wake up your device and you should be able to see the
Main Menu below.
Please note: In the event of a power loss, batteries
(2 x AAA) are the secondary power source for your IHD,
therefore, it might be handy to keep them nearby. If
you’re seeing a black screen, press the ON/OFF button
on the top left-hand side of the device to wake it up.

Smart Meters might look similar to the ones
you’ve had before but actually they’re a bit
dierent. They’re smarter, they can talk to
us and let us know how much energy you’re
using, and you‘ll be able to get information
like your tari and your past and current
energy consumption.
Your Smart Meters are connected to a direct
power source, this means they will never run
out of power. If you are seeing a blank screen
don’t worry they’re just sleeping, you can
press any button to wake them up.

Q1.
What are Smart Meters?
A: Smart Meters are gas and
electricity meters that can make
your life easier. They’ll do all the
hard work by sending us your
meter readings automatically
(with your consent), so you don’t
have to. They also come with a
Smart Energy Monitor (your IHD)
that show you how much energy
you’re using in £, kWh and kg
of CO2.
Q2.
How do Smart Meters
help you?
A: You will have a complete
understanding of how much
energy you’re using and most
importantly your bills will be
accurate every time, which
means no more estimated bills.
Q3.
What is an In-Home
Display (IHD)?
A: The IHD you have in your home
is a smart device that allows you
to monitor your energy usage and
to compare it month by month.
You can check your previous
usage anytime of the day as you
wish and we can even send you
messages to update you on your
tari and account information.
Q4.
Is my data secure
with Smart Meters?
A: Yes. Flow takes responsibility
for storing the meter readings
collected by Smart Meters very
seriously. And we will only do
that with your full consent.
Q5.
Can I get the meter
readings from the IHD?
A: Unfortunately, you can’t as
Smart Meters are designed to
make your life easier by sending
us your readings automatically
(with your consent). However, you
can get your readings using the
keypad on the Smart Meters, for
that please refer to page 15.
