SECURI Y AND HE ENVIRONMEN
ELECTRICAL SECURITY
Check that the current in the mains connection where the machine is to be installed corresponds to the
power supply of the machine.
To avoid damaging the equipment, electrical shocks, fire or physical injury when you connect or disconnect
the equipment from the power supply, pull the plug firmly out of the mains socket holding the plug, never the
cable.
Always do this with dry hands.
Keep the power supply cable far from sources of heat. Do not put heavy objects on top of it or change it.
Clean dust and dirt off the power supply cable regularly.
Do not open the machine; you could get an electric shock.
CAUTION
While installing the machine, make sure it is switched off and unplugged.
Do not open the machine. Touching the internal parts is dangerous and you could receive an electric shock.
The machine must not be splashed or dripped on. Never place recipients with liquid inside on the machine.
Do not place anything inside the machine.
LOCATION
Place the equipment on a horizontal surface with enough space around it to allow ventilation.
Avoid direct sunlight, heat sources and excessive dust.
Do not place the machine near magnetic fields or static electricity.
Do not use surfaces which vibrate or receive impact.
Do not pile machines on top of one another.
VENTILATION
Never block or cover the ventilation slits on the machine.
Do not expose it to direct sunlight or place it near sources of heat.
PERIODS OF INACTIVITY
When the machine is not going to be used for a long period of time, disconnect it from the mains.
If you are using an adapter, take into account that it will continue using electricity even if the machine is
switched off. If it is not going to be used for a long period of time, disconnect it from the mains.
T E ENVIRONMENT
To save energy, switch the machine off when you are not going to use it for a long time. The machine could
contain substances that are harmful to the environment or human health. To minimize the effect of these
substances the machine must be correctly managed and recycled when you decide to dispose of it.
When you dispose of it remember: it cannot be thrown into a conventional rubbish bin.
If it contains or uses batteries, these must be disposed of separately.
The machine (without batteries) must be disposed of correctly. Put it in a container specially intended for the
collection of electronic and electrical appliances, at the dump or hand it over to the dealer when you purchase
similar equipment, so that the dealer can dispose of it correctly (at no added cost).

SIGNIFICANCE OF HE SYMBOLS ON HE MACHINE*
The symbol formed by the expression “Class 1 laser product” written in a rectangle
indicates that visible or invisible laser radiation could be produced. Avoid direct expose to
the laser.
The symbol formed by a ray of lightening inside a triangle shows that the machine has
connection terminals or a circuit with areas with a current which could cause an electric
shock, even in normal working conditions.
The symbol formed by an exclamation mark in a triangle shows that the instruction manual
must be referred to for information on how the machine works and its use.
The symbol formed by one square inside another square shows that the machine has
double electrical insulation.
The European Community symbol shows that the machine complies with the current
European Union legislation, as well as its transposition to local legislation.
The symbol of a rubbish bin crossed out and over a horizontal line shows that when the
product is disposed of it must be done properly, placing it in a special selective electronic
and electrical equipment container or through a dealer when purchasing a similar product,
at no additional cost. It also shows that the machine was put on the market after 13th
August 2005 (European Community Directive 2002/96/CE of Electrical and Electronic
recycling, and its Spanish equivalent R.D.208/2005).
In accordance with what is set out in the aforementioned decree, FONESTAR is registered
in the RAEE (Registro de Aparatos Eléctricos y Electrónicos) in a special section REI
(Registro de establecimientos Industriales), with the entry number 001851.
*It is possible that some of these symbols do not appear on the machine.

DESCRIP ION
- 2-channel multizone mixer/preamplifier with 6 output zones.
- Two operating modes: as an auxiliary line switching unit or as a 100 V line switching unit with one amplifier
for background music and another for paging in all the zones.
- Message recorder/player with selectable playback mode.
- Remote paging option through microphone with zone selector mod. M-203 (up to 6 microphones).
CON ROLS AND FUNC IONS
FRON PANEL
1.- APE, CD, UNER: background music input selector, allows choice among TAPE, CD or TUNER etc.

2.- ZONE 1 to ZONE 6: output zone activation/deactivation controls. The lit LED indicator means that the
zone is activated.
3.- OU PU LEVEL: LED output signal level indicators. Regulates the individual volume controls of the
inputs or the volume control of the general MASTER output so that the level does not exceed the green
LED indicators. The red LED indicators indicate saturation or signal distortion which could lead to
damage to the amplifier or loudspeakers.
4.- POWER: LED power indicator.
5.- MIC: integrated microphone for the recording of messages.
6.- AC IVE: LED indicator which lights up if the message recording and playback module is in use.
7.- PLAY: plays the selected message through the contact closure PLAY MESSAGE located on the rear
panel.
8.- S OP: stops the recording or playback of internal messages.
9.- REC: starts the recording of a message through the integrated microphone. The number of the selected
message is selected with the selector REC MESSAGE, located on the rear panel.
10.- MICRO: microphone input volume control
11.- MUSIC: auxiliary audio volume control TAPE, CD or TUNER.
12.- BASS: reinforces or attenuates the bass frequencies ±5 dB.
13.- REBLE: reinforces or attenuates the treble frequencies ±5 dB.
14.- MAS ER: general output volume control.
15.- ON/OFF: amplifier on/off switch.

REAR PANEL
1.- AC socket: for the connection of AC power supply cable.
2.- RELE ZONE CONSOL OU : output control relay. During the sending of messages from the microphone mod.
M-203 a 24 V DC tension will be activated between the negative terminal and the active zones (1 to 6).
3.- MIX MUSIC-PAGE OU : background music and paging combined line output.
4.- MUSIC OU : background music line output.
5.- PAGE OU : line output for paging from the remote microphone mod. M-203.
6.- PLAY MESSAGE: to select the message to be played. Short circuit of COM and No 1 terminals to select
prerecorded message number or terminals COM and No 2 to select the prerecorded message number 2.
The messages are only played through the PAGE OUT paging output.
7.- REC MESSAGE: to select the message to be recorded. Allows selection of the message that is to be
recorded using the message recorder located on the front of the device.
8.- MESSAGE 1 IME/CON INUOS: to select message playback mode: once or continuously (until the
STOP button is pressed).
9.- ALARM/NORMAL: to select the zones for playback of the messages. In NORMAL mode the message
will only be broadcast in the activated zones, in ALARM mode the message will be broadcast in all the
zones at maximum volume even if they are deactivated.
10.- MESSAGE VOL. REC: message recording volume control.
11.- MESSAGE VOL. PLAY: message playback volume control.
12.- PHAN OM: 48 V phantom power supply switch. This switch has two positions:
- PHAN OM +48 V: in this position, the MICRO input can be connected to an electret condenser
microphone which requires 48 V phantom power supply.
- MIC: in this position, the MICRO input can be connected to a low impedance dynamic
microphone 30 - 600 Ω which does not require phantom power supply.
13.- VOLUME CHIME: chime volume control.
14.- PRIORI Y: priority terminals. Closing these contacts attenuates the level of the auxiliary input (TAPE,
CD or TUNER) and the chimes are activated. Microphone paging and messages will have priority.
15.- IN COM ZONE: background musicline signal input or background music amplifier.
16.- OPEN RELE IN: paging line signal input or paging amplifier.
17.- ZONE 1-6 OU : zones 1-6 output, to connect the loudspeakers or corresponding amplifiers to each
zone, euroblock connectors.
18.- UNER/CD/ APE: signal source inputs, 2 x RCA connectors, selectable using the control on the front
panel TUNER/CD/TAPE.
19.- MICRO: microphone input with XLR connector, admits signals from balanced and unbalanced
microphones 30 - 600 Ω and balanced electret condenser microphones which require 48 V phantom
power supply, present in pins 2 and 3 of the XLR connector.
The microphone connected to the MICRO input will only be sent to the zones activated for the MIX
MUSIC-PAGE OUT output.
In the configuration of the system as a 100 V line switching unit the microphone audio will be broadcast
through the background music amplifier.

CAU ION: when connecting and disconnecting an unbalanced microphone the switcher must be in the
MIC position. If the switcher is in the P ANTOM +48 V position this could cause damage to the
microphones. When using microphones which do not require phantom power supply, make sure
the switcher is put in the MIC position, given that the voltage present in pins 2 and 3 of the XLR
connector could cause damage to the microphones.
20.- MICRO GAIN: MICRO input gain control.
21.- CONSOL GAIN: gain control of remote microphone mod. M-203.
22.- CONSOL VOLUME: volume control of remote microphone mod. M-203.
23.- CONSOL: input connector for microphone with zone selector mod. M-203, RJ-45 connector. The
microphone input mod. M-203 is only sent to the PAGE OUT paging output. A maximum of 6
microphones mod. M-203 can be used.
INS RUC IONS FOR USE
CONNEC ION OF MICROPHONE M-203
For the connection of microphone mod. M-203 a Cat.5 type cable is used. This cable is connected to the
CONSOL output of the mixer mod. MXZ-2036 and to the LINE IN input of the first microphone mod. M-203.
In the event of having more than one microphone they should be connected in cascade from the LINK OUT
output of the first to the LINE IN input of the second and so on.
CHIMES
The chimes can be used in two ways:
- The chimes can be played remotely through the microphone mod. M-203. Select the zone or zones to
which you wish to send the chimes using the buttons ZONE 1 to 6. Then, press the TALK button which
activates the chimes and open the microphone to page in the selected zones.
- To play the chimes from the amplifier, they must be activated on the rear panel using the PRIORITY contact
closure. Closing these contacts activates the chimes and attenuates the level of the auxiliary input (TAPE,
CD o TUNER) in the zones that are selected. These inputs will remain attenuated as long as the contacts
are closed.
INPU PRIORI Y
The priority function automatically reduces the level of the inputs with lower priority so that the paging or
message broadcast through those with higher priority can be clearly heard.
The input signal for the microphone mod. M-203 has maximum priority over the rest of the inputs and is
activated when the TALK button on the microphone is pressed. When the priority is activated, the MICRO
inputs, messages 1 or 2 and the auxiliary input (TAPE, CD or TUNER) are automatically attenuated, so that
the message is clearly heard.
In the next priority level message 3 is found, which is activated by pressing the ALARM button on the
microphone mod. M-203 for approximately two seconds. This input has priority over the MICRO inputs,
messages 1 and 2 and the auxiliary input (TAPE, CD or TUNER), which will remain attenuated as long as the
message is active or PRIORITY contact closure is closed.
The next level of priority is formed by the PRIORITY contact closure (which activates the chimes) and
messages 1 or 2. These inputs have priority over the auxiliary input (TAPE, CD or TUNER), which will remain
attenuated as long as the message is active or the PRIORITY contact closure is closed.
MESSAGE PLAYBACK
To play messages 1 or 2, select the message you wish to play using the contact closure on the rear panel.
Then press the PLAY MESSAGE button on the front panel to play it and the STOP button if you wish to stop
playback.
Note: for message playback, the NORMAL/ALARM selector must be in ALARM mode.
To play message 3 press and hold the ALARM button on the microphone mod. M-203. The message will be
broadcast in the selected zones if the mixer is configurated in NORMAL mode, or in all the zones if the mixer
is configurated in ALARM mode. The message will be played continuously until the ALARM button is pressed.

CONNEC ION
Make the connections with the amplifier and all the components of the audio system switched off and
disconnected from the power supply.
The system can operate as an auxiliary line switching unit, which requires one amplifier per zone, or as a
100 V line switching unit, with one amplifier for background music and another one for paging.
Once the connections have been made according to your needs, connect the devices to a power supply
and switch them on. After use, do not forget to switch off and disconnect the devices from the power supply.
EXAMPLE OF CONNEC ION AS 100 V LINE SWI CHING UNI
In this configuration one amplifier is required for background music and another one for paging. The power
of each amplifier must be the same as the combined power of the loudspeakers istalled in all the zones.

In this configuration one amplifier per zone is required. The power of each amplifier must be the same as the
power of the loudspeakers installed in each respective zone.

This product has been tested and has passed the corresponding quality control prior to being put on the market.
FONES AR guarantees the suitability of the product for its specified use during a period of 2 years from the delivery date
and commits itself to repair or substitute the goods as expressed in the Spanish law “La Ley General para la Defensa de los
Consumidores y Usuarios, Real Decreto Legislativo 1/2007 16 Noviembre”.
The lack of conformity in the first six months after purchase, due to a manufacturing defect, will be rectified with no more
than showing the proof of purchase. After six months FONES AR reserves the right to demand proof of the product being
sold with that problem.
This warranty does not include damage produced by: inappropriate use or negligence, accidents, worn out parts due to use,
breakages, burns, spilt liquids or other substances, excessive humidity, battery deterioration and internal manipulation of the
device, the software or its components by unauthorized persons, and in general any use that is unrelated to the nature and
purpose of the product.
If any service is needed during the warranty period because of lack of conformity, please contact the business or distributor
where the product was purchased in no more than 2 months after being conscious of the problem. It is only necessary to
contact FONES AR if it is impossible or imposes an undue burden for them to solve it..
To benefit from this warranty it is necessary to show the proof of purchase with the date clearly visible, with no corrections
or crossing out
