the watchful care of a responsible adult.
B. Be alert and turn the machine off if children or pets enter the work area.
C. Ne er allow children to operate the Wood Chipper.
Safety with Petrol - Powered Machines
WARNING
Petrol is a highly flammable liquid. Petrol also gi es off flammable apor that can be easily
ignited and cause a fire or explosion. Ne er o erlook the hazards of petrol. Always follow
these precautions:
A. Ne er run the engine in an enclosed area or without proper entilation as the
exhaust from the engine contains carbon monoxide, which is odorless, tasteless, and a
deadly poisonous gas.
B. Store all fuel and oil in containers specifically designed and appro ed for this
purpose and keep away from heat and open flame, and out of the reach of children.
C. Replace rubber fuel lines and grommets when worn or damaged and after 5 years
of use.
D. Fill the petrol tank outdoors with the engine off and allow the engine to cool
completely. Don't handle petrol if you or anyone nearby is smoking, or if you're near
anything that could cause it to ignite or explode. Re-install the fuel tank cap and fuel
container cap securely.
E. If you spill petrol, do not attempt to start the engine. Mo e the machine away from
the area of the spill and a oid creating any source of ignition until the gas apors ha e

dangerous and will cause damage to the engine and to the other mo ing parts of the
machine. If required, see your authorized dealer for engine go ernor adjustments.
I. Keep combustible substances away from the engine when it is hot.
J. Ne er co er the machine while the exhaust is still hot.
K. Do not operate the engine with the air cleaner or the carburetor air intake co er
remo ed. Remo al of such parts could create a fire hazard. Do not use flammable
solutions to clean the air filter.

D. Know the correct and incorrect methods of Chipping woods. Ne er using an incorrect
or unsafe method.
Starting
1. Position your Wood Chipper on flat, dry ground and then lower and lock in place the
foot plate to stabilise the machine. Make sure the machine cannot be mo ed.
2. Make sure the fuel shut-off al e is in the “ON” position.
3. Mo e the choke control le er to the “CHOKE” position (should only be needed if the
engine is cold).
4. Mo e the throttle control le er to the “FAST” position.
5. Turn the Ignition Switch to the “On” position. Grasp the recoil starter handle and

Wood Chipping
NOTICE
The diameter of wood and branches should be no bigger than 100mm.
WARNING
Do not place your hands into the chute when loading. This is a ery UNSAFE method and
could result in injury to your hands.
Do not reach or step across the rail while the Wood Chipper is running. This is a ery
UNSAFE method which could cause personal injury, e en death.
When Blocked
If the Roller stops while chipping wood or branches, stop the engine. Remo e the wood or
branches that are blocking the roller, and then restart the engine and chip again.
If the wood or branches cannot be remo ed by hand then
it is possible to rotate the drum in re erse. On the left side
(when facing the hopper) bearing housing, remo e the two
nuts indicated that secure the co er. Underneath is a
square dri e that can be used (with a suitable socket or

Part I : Maintaining The Wood Chipper
Belt Tension
The tension of the belts should be checked before each use. Additionally when the machine
is new or after the belts ha e been replaced, the tension should be checked after the first 15
minutes of use as new belts will stretch.
To adjust the tension, loosen the four mounting bolts that secure the engine plate to the
chipper. The plate can then by mo ed backwards or forwards using the two adjusting bolts.
To adjust the bolts, loosen the lock nuts then mo e the adjusting bolts backwards or
forwards the required amount. Once the adjustment is correct, tighten the lock nuts. You
should be careful to adjust each bolt by the same amount. Finally, re-tighten the four
mounting bolts.
Lubrication
NOTICE
All Bearings of your Chipper are sealed units and should ha e sufficient lubricant to last the
life of your machine with normal use.
Remo ing the Blades
To remo e the blades for sharpening, you will need a 17mm socket with no inner taper, as
the bolt heads are shallow. If a socket with inner taper is used, there is a possibility of
rounding the bolt head as the socket will slip.
When refitting the blades, you should use a small amount of mild thread lock to secure each
bolt.

PART V: Troubleshooting and Parts List
Most problems are easy to fix. Consult the Troubleshooting Table below for common
problems and their solutions. If you continue to experience problems, contact the dealers in
your area.
WARNING
Before performing any maintenance procedure or inspection, stop the engine, wait fi e
minutes to allow all parts to cool. Disconnect the spark plug wire, keeping it away from the
spark plug.
Troubleshooting Table
SYMPTOM POSSIBLE CAUSE
The engine won’t start.
(Please refer to the
engine user manual
for engine-specific
procedures.)
Is the ignition switch in the “ON” position
Is the fuel shut-off valve on
Are you using fresh, clean fuel If the fuel is old, change it. Use a
fuel stabilizer if you keep fuel longer than 30 days.
Is the spark plug clean If the spark plug is dirty or cracked, change
it. If it’s oily, leave it out, hold a rag over the plug hole and pull the
recoil cord several times to blow out any oil in the cylinder, then
wipe off the plug and reinsert it.
Is there sufficient oil Check the engine oil level and if necessary
top up to the correct level.
Is there dirt in the carburetor Undo the bolt holding the float
chamber to the carburetor, empty out any fuel and clean the inside
using fresh clean petrol. Remove the jet in the bottom of the
carburetor and clean it. Refit the jet and the float chamber.
The engine lacks power
or is not running
smoothly.
(Please refer to the
engine user manual
for engine-specific
procedures.)
Check that the Throttle Lever is in the “Run” position.
Is the air filter clean If it’s dirty, change it following the
procedure in the engine manufacturer’s owner’s manual.
Is the spark plug clean If it’s fouled or cracked, change it. If it’s
oily, leave it out, hold a rag over the plug hole and pull your recoil
cord several times to blow out any oil in the cylinder, then wipe off
the plug and reinsert it.
Are you using fresh, clean unleaded gas If it’s old, change it. Use
a fuel stabilizer if you keep gas longer than 30 days.
Does your engine have the right amount of clean oil If it’s dirty,
change it following the procedure in the engine manufacturer’s
owner’s manual.
Check the oil level and adjust as needed.
13

Engine smokes.
(Please refer to the
engine user manual
for engine-specific
procedures.)
Check the oil level and adjust as needed.
Check the air filter and clean or replace if needed.
You may be using the wrong oil—too light for the temperature.
Refer to your Engine Owner’s Manual for detailed information.
Clean the cooling fins if they’re dirty.
Machine does not seem
to have full chipping
power.
The belts may be too loose and slipping. Adjust or replace belts as
need.
Note that if the oil le el is low and the machine is not le el, the oil le el sensor will not allow
the engine to start. This is normally the first check to make if the engine does not start. See
the separate engine manual for the correct oil le el.
