8. Never run the engine in a poorly ventilated area where the exhaust fumes
may be trapped and not easily taken away.
9. When transporting the earth auger, turn off the engine and remove the
auger.
10. Replace the auger if there are cracks or other signs of damage on it.
11. Use unleaded petrol in a ratio of 25:1 for mineral oil and 40:1 for synthetic
oil.
12. Never fill the fuel tank with the engine running. Stop the engine and allow
it to cool before filling. Keep the engine clear from flames, sparks and
other heat sources when filling. Never smoke when filling the fuel tank.
13. Clear up any spilled fuel before operating the machine. Before starting
the machine, ensure you are a minimum distance of 3 metres from the
area where it was filled or fuel was spilled.
14. Always keep the handles of the equipment dry and clean.
15. Before starting ensure the auger is not locked.
16. Do not touch the auger or attempt servicing with the engine running.
17. Both after starting the engine and before stopping the engine, allow the
engine to run with no load for 2-3 minutes. Never suddenly stop the
engine at great speed.
18. Make sure that the bit does not turn when the engine is idling
19. Always hold the equipment with both hands. Keep all parts of your body
away from the auger, engine and exhaust.
WARNING: If used correctly, the auger is a powerful , fast, high
performance tool. If used improperly or without the due precautions
it could become a dangerous tool. For pleasant and safe work, always
strictly comply with the safety rules that follow and throughout this
manual.

Earth Auger FM52EA 5
Safety
19. When moving the equipment during operation the engine should be
idling.
20. Never touch the spark plug or wire when the engine is running as an
electric shock may occur.
21. Store the earth auger in an upright position with an empty fuel tank.
22. Regularly check, adjust, repair and clean the earth auger.
23. Never use a damaged ,modified, or improperly repaired or assembled
auger. Do not remove, damage or deactivate any of the safety devices.
Only use bit of the type indicated in the table.
24. Do not disassemble the pull start, you can be seriously hurt.
25. Once the equipment has reached the end of it’s working life, drain
the fuel tank into a suitable container and dispose of the fuel and the
equipment at an approved recycling centre.
26. Only loan your auger to expert user who are completely familiar with
augers operation and correct use. Give other users the manual with
operating instruction, which they should read before using the augers.
27. All saw service, other than the operations shown in the present manual,
should be performed by competent personnel.

Operation
Lubrication of the Reduction Gear box
The auger is supplied with TAMOIL TAMLITH GREASE
2 grease in the reduction gearbox. Remove the screw
(A) under the reduction gearbox and check for the
presence of grease.
Fitting the Auger Bit
Fit the output shaft (B) into the seat on the bit (D)
and secure it using the appropriate gudgeon pin
(C).
Fuel Mixture
Mix the petrol and oil in a ratio of 25:1 if using mineral oil or 40:1 if using
synthetic oil. When preparing the mixture, only use oil for two stroke
engine.
Shake the fuel container before filling. Refill when the engine is switched
off and far away from naked flames.
Before unscrewing the fuel tank cap, position the auger on a flat ,solid
surface to prevent fuel spills.
Petrol is very flammable. Select outdoor bare ground for fuelling. Never
add or replace fuel when the engine is in operation or before the engine
stops.
Do not leave the mixture in the fuel tank or in a fuel canister for a long
period of time.
Do not start the engine if fuel leakage is found. Do not run the engine until
the leak is fixed.

STARTING THE ENGINE
1. Put switch A in the “START”/I position .
2. Press safety lever (B) and throttle lever (C), lock it by pressing button (D).
3. Release lever (B) and (C).
4. Put the choke lever (E) in position “CLOSE” .
5. Push the primer bulb (F) a few times until the fuel comes out of the fuel
tube.
Operation
6. Pull the starter rope a few times until the engine starts.
When pulling the starting rope
Do not let the starter grip snap back
Do not pull the starter rope out all the way as it might break.
Guide it slowly back into the housing so that the starter rope can
rewind properly.
7. Put the choke lever (E) back to the original position “OPEN”. Once the
engine is running, press the throttle lever (C) to release button (D) and
let the engine idle.
Do not close the choke (E), when starting a hot engine.
When the engine is idling, the bit should not turn.

Earth Auger FM52EA8
STOPPING THE ENGINE
1. Bring the throttle to the idle position (C), and run it for 2~3 minutes at a
low speed until the engine cools.
2. Switch off the engine by putting the stop switch A, in the “STOP”/O
position.
3. Remove the bit, clean the machine.
Operation
WARNING: Avoid stopping the engine suddenly when it is
running at high speed. Doing so could cause damage to the
machine.
AIR FILTER
Every 25 hours, remove the cover (K), and the filter (G). The filter should be
washed with petrol and dried before refitting it.
CARBURETTOR
Screw (H), must be adjusted so that the engine promptly responds to sharp
accelerations and gives good idle operation and gives maximum power
during the cutting phase.
Idle screw (L), is adjusted in order to ensure a good safety margin between
idle turning and clutch engagement.
Weather conditions and altitude may affect carburation.
Maintenance
L

Earth Auger FM52EA 9
Maintenance
FUEL FILTER
Check the fuel filter (M), periodically. Replace it if too dirty . A dirty filter can
cause difficult starting and lower engine performance.
ENGINE
Clean the cylinder fins with compressed air or a brush periodically. Dangerous
overheating of engine may occur due to impurities on the cylinder fins.
SPARK PLUG
Remove the spark plug cover, unscrew the spark plug.
If carbon deposits are found, clean the electrode with abrasive paper and
adjust the electrode gap to 0.5-0.6mm.
BIT
Always check the drill bit. Sharpen or replace it if necessary.
The removable impact bit (P), and the non-removable blade (Q), can be bought
from the dealer.
Check and repair the blade (R), (S), and the bit tip (T), regularly. Or contact the
dealer to replace.

1. Follow all the maintenance procedures described previously.
2. If storing for a long period of time, clean the auger completely and
grease the metallic part.
3. Remove , clean and oil the bit to prevent rusting.
4. Empty the fuel tank and put the cap back on.
5. Remove the spark plug and pour a small amount of oil into the cylinder.
6. Pull the starting rope several times to rotate the crankshaft to distribute
the oil. Put the spark plug back in.
