IMPORTANT SAFETY
INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING! TO REDUCE RISK OF INJURY TO PERSONS:
Read instructions before operating. Injury may result
from improper use. Never remove covers.
• This lift chair should never be left unattended when in operation.
• Unplug lift chair from outlet before relocating or troubleshooting.
• Do not connect an extension cord to this unit.
• Close supervision is necessary when this lift chair is used by, on, or near children,
invalids, disabled persons, or pets. Do not allow children to play on or under this
mechanized furniture or operate the mechanism.
• Use this lift only for its intended use as described in the operating instructions.
• Do not use attachments not recommended by the manufacturer.
• Keep all cords away from heated surfaces and pinch points.
• Do not use outdoors. INDOOR USE ONLY.
• To disconnect, turn all hand controls to the off position, then
remove plug from outlet.
• Do not allow food particles and/or liquids to fall into the hand control switch
opening. Failure to do so may impair the functionality of the control switch.
• Always leave in an upright and closed position. Keep hands and feet clear of
mechanism and all moving parts. Leg rest must be completely closed before
getting in or out of the chair. Only the occupant should operate the chair.
• Never sit on the leg rest when open.
• Do not sit on the arms of the recliner.
• Completely close and secure the reclining mechanism before
moving motion furniture.
• Avoid exposing upholstered furniture to burning cigarettes or cigars, open flames
and high temperatures.
• Do not exceed recommended weight limit (see page 6).
CAUTION: If you notice damage to the wires leading to massage units, severe
wear on hand control cord and/or hand control and if hand control does not
function properly, unplug your lift chair immediately and call your authorized
COMFORTLIFT provider for service. Otherwise, serious personal injury may result.
DANGER! TO REDUCE RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK:
Never use pins or other metallic fasteners with this lift
chair. Discard the lift chair if the covering shows any sign of
deterioration, such as checking, blistering, or cracking.
Keep dry. Do not operate in a wet or moist environment.

This section describes the features of your lift chair. Carefully review the function
and location of each item described, and note that the illustrations and open
locations shown in this manual may not reflect the type of lift chair that you own.

1. Open box from the top (as shown in Figure 1).
2. Remove chair back, plastic wrap, and cardboard shipping material (as shown in Figure 2).
3. Turn box on side with the back of the seat facing the floor (as shown in Figure 3).
4. Slide out of the box and set upright (as shown in Figure 4).
5. Locate plastic bag in back of seat unit. Bag contains chair motor wire, hand control
wand, 8’-10’ft. power cord and transformer (as shown in Figure 5).
6. Place hand control in seat and attach cord to velcro at back of seat (as shown in Figure 6).
Note: The hand control can be positioned to the left or right of the chair depending on your preference.
7. Route wall plug around outside arm and plug directly into the electrical outlet. Do not
use an extension cord.
8. Place lift chair back on seat arms and fold flap back exposing connecting brackets (as
shown in Figure 7). Make sure hand control is in the seat.
9. Tilt back toward back brackets and align back brackets with seat brackets and press
down firmly until it clicks (as shown in Figures 8 and 9 and Diagram 9A).
IMPORTANT - Make certain that back is locked down properly - you should not be able
to remove back. Failure to properly install back could cause serious injury.
10. Using the hand wand, raise the chair into an upright or standing position. Connect
velcro on bottom edge of back flap with velcro on bottom edge of lift chair frame (as
shown in Figure 10).
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
IMPORTANT: READ THROUGH ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE BEGINNING!
Position your new lift chair in close proximity to a standard (110 AC) wall outlet
which is free from obstacles. Make sure you allow enough space between the back
and nearest obstruction so that you can easily recline. This clearance may vary from
style to style due to different back heights used. Level your chair using the leveling
glides on the metal base of the chair. These glides can be adjusted up and down by
rotating clockwise to lower and counter clockwise to raise the base (4 per chair).
Not all floors are perfectly flat and level. These glides will help compensate for the
height difference found in some floors. After the chair is leveled, turn chair over and
unwind power cords. Route the power cord so it is free from the metal base and other
obstacles which could pinch or cut the cord. Plug the power cord into a standard (110
AC) outlet (DO NOT use an extension cord). For some international applications, a
voltage converter may be required.
Your new COMFORTLIFT chair works on a low voltage DC motor that reduces
the standard household current (110 AC) to a 29v DC. The COMFORTLIFT lift
mechanism is equipped with an internal thermal shutoff switch to prevent the motor
control box from overheating. If the motor stops during a shifting cycle, allow the lift
chair to remain in this position for 10 minutes. This will allow the motor control box to
cool and reset itself. Normal use can resume after cooling. If the problem continues,
contact your authorized COMFORTLIFT dealer for assistance.

BATTERY BACKUP
Your COMFORTLIFT chair is equipped with a battery back-up that will automatically
activate during power failure. This system is designed to take you from full recline to
the closed position. Your battery back-up system is powered by two 9-volt batteries
(not included). The two battery terminals are located in the external transformer.
Always make sure your lift chair is equipped with two fresh batteries in case of power
failure. The batteries need to be replaced every time the back-up system is used or
once a year if the battery back-up system has not been used. To install batteries,
remove trap door on external transformer with a screwdriver, or push forward with
your fingers (bottom chamber type) or with the spring clip (top chamber type). Snap
battery terminals to the batteries and insert into the chamber. Reattach the door.
WEIGHT
COMFORTLIFT chairs with an independent motor for the backrest and an independent
motor for the footrest have a weight capacity of 500lbs. All other lift chairs will have
a 350lbs. weight capacity. Exceeding this will void your warranty and could cause
damage to the lift and harm to the operator.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
To ensure your COMFORTLIFT chair provides maximum comfort and years of trouble-
free operation, some routine maintenance and inspection will be required. Inspect the
fabric on a regular basis for pulls, tears, or gaps. Refer to the Fabric Care instructions
on the following page for fabric cleaning instructions.
Regulate the seat and back padding by shifting foam or fiber to help maintain a crisp
and well-tailored look. Some lift chair styles are supplied with a full pad over removable
chaise pad. This pad is attached with velcro and can be removed for regulating,
replacing, or cleaning (refer to the Fabric Care instructions on the following page for
fabric cleaning instructions).
Visually inspect the power cord for any cracks or wear. Periodically check the hand
control cord for cracks, wear, holes and loose wires.

FABRIC CARE
We only use the finest upholstery materials because the beauty of your furniture
depends on it’s cover. Choose the right methods to clean fabric on your lift chair.
Before cleaning, always reference the cleaning codes and instructions below:

Water-based cleaning agents and foam may be used for cleaning.
This fabric may also be cleaned with mild, water-free cleaning solvents.

This fabric should be vacuumed or brushed lightly to remove soil.

THREE YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY

We wanted to the original owner/purchase to be free of defects in
workmanship and materials for a period of three (3) years from the
date of purchase. All other components of the COMFORTLIFT chair
are warranted to be free of defects in workmanship for one year from
the date of sale to the original owner/purchase.
LIMITATIONS ON WARRANTY
Thewarrantycontainedhereinshallbeinlieuofanyotherwarranty,expressorimplied,
including but not limited to any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a
particular use. Liability for incidental or consequential damages under the warranty
is excluded. Some states do not allow limitation of incidental or consequential
damages, therefore this limitation may not apply to you. This warranty gives you
specific legal rights and you may also have other rights that vary from state to state.
The following additional limitations apply to all warranties contained herein:
1. Warranties extend to the original purchaser only and are not transferable.
2. Warranties do not apply to rental, business, commercial, institutional or
other non-residential use.
3. All warranties are subject to the availability of repair and replacement parts
and are limited to a one-time replacement. Shipping and handling costs
are not included.
4. Replacement cover dye lots vary from shipment to shipment and may not
exactly match the original.
5. Warranties do not apply to any conditions caused by damage, improper use
or abuse occurring after the date of sale to the original purchaser. Such
damage, improper use or abuse will void all warranties.
FRANKLIN’S OBLIGATION
Franklin’s obligation under this warranty is limited to repairing or replacing at
Franklin’s discretion, any part(s) of the chair covered by warranty that are found to
be defective in workmanship or materials upon examination by Franklin, or a Franklin
designated agent. Cost of packing and shipping the entire piece to and from the
factory, if necessary, is not covered by this warranty. Any merchandise deemed not
repairable by the manufacturer will be prorated through the dealer based on the
original date of purchase.
HOW TO OBTAIN WARRANTY BENEFITS
To obtain warranty benefits under the warranty, contact the dealer from whom you
purchased this merchandise. If you move away from the area serviced by your dealer
