P38J
Dear customer, congratulations on the purchase of the P-38J Lightning model. To enjoy building
and flying the model most, please read carefully the building instructions before you begin and
make sure that you understand the building process.
DESCRIPTION OF THE MODEL:
The P-38J model is completely made of the expanded polypropylene (EPP) and its low weight
starting at a mere 180 grams makes it an ideal model for flying in any environment. Thanks
to its powerpIants it is extremely suitable not only for a leisurely flying, but for the air combat
as well.
We suggest that you use our Microtex AC motors, either the Microtex 20/8/14 (for two LiPol
cells) or 20/8/18 (for 3 LiPol cells). Thanks to its well-engineered design the assembly of
the model would take only about 60 minutes. It would survive unharmed many crashes and
mid-air collisions in the air combat with other models.
BUILDING:
Unless otherwise stated, the whole model is built using the medium-thick CyA glue. Start with
gluing the aileron joiner (Fig. 1) in place. Then glue the main fuselage parts to the wing (Fig.
2). Ensure that the wing and fuselage planes take the proper respective angles (Fig. 3). Next
glue on the elevator and rudders (Fig. 4), ensuring again that the wing and tail surfaces are
at the proper relative angles (Fig. 5). Glue the fuselage nacelle (Fig. 6) in place. Taking the
(Fig. 7) as a guide, glue together the undercarriage mounting. Place the complete assemblies
into the fuselage nacelle (Fig.8) and the engine nacelle (Fig. 9). If you do not want to
have the undercarriage installed, omit also the mountings completely. For the machine with
undercarriage „down“, put the wheels on axles and secure with the quick locks (Fig. 10). At
this phase you may also glue the undercarriage doors in place (Fig. 11). Cut out the opening
for the elevator servo (Fig. 12), glue in place the elevator horn (Fig. 13) and install its push-
pull rod (Fig. 14). Glue in place the aileron horns and (Fig. 15) and cut out the opening for the
aileron servo (Fig. 16). Install the servo and the aileron push-pull rods (Fig. 17). Glue in the
motor mounting and connect the controller (Fig. 18). The connection diagram of the controller
is on (Fig. 19). Using the set-screw, mount the motor (Fig. 20) and insert the receiver into the
fuselage nacelle. Put the battery into the opening, cut in the fuselage nacelle (Fig. 21). Check
the centre-of-gravity position, balancing the model as necessary (Fig. 22). Now we have the
model built, only the application of decals and trimming the controls remaining. By connecting
the controllers into two channels of the receiver, you can utilise the mixer in the transmitter to
control the turning (yawing) as by the rudder.
Set the deflection of the controls to about 30 degrees for the first familiarisation flights,
adding exponential curve as you are used to. The model is quite sensitive and nimble. Always
take into consideration your capabilities at the given moment and fly so that you would not
endanger yourself or the people in your vicinity.
Many happy landings! Your Free Air.

You will need the following tools and materials:
CyA glue, CyA glue accelerator, sharp (modelling) knife, sandpaper. To complete the model
you need the following: RC receiver (MZK), servos (Waypoint) 2x, AC controller (2xTMM
0710-3), battery pack (2-3 LiPol cells of 720-1200 mAh). For the Microtex 20/8/16 motor
the 200/150 mm (8“/6“) propeller and two LiPol cells or a 180/150 mm (7“/6“) propeller
and three LiPol cells are ideal.
