mAh),amotor(HCS-80/2Eorsimilarof about80 Woutput).
Descriptionofthemodel:|
ThemodeliscompletelymadeofEPP andhassomecarboncomponents. Withitsweightbeginning at 250 gramsit isanideal
modelforflyinginanysuitablespot(e.g. aschoolplaygroundorinthestreet).Itisintendednotonlyforexperiencedpilots,butalso
fortheadvancedmodellers.Topowerit youmayuseamotorfromourproduction,e.g.theHCS-80/2E,andthree LithiumPolymer
cells. Thankstoawell thought-outdesigntheconstructionwouldtakeonlyabout90 minutes.
Buildingprocess:
Unless otherwisestated,alljointsshouldbegluedwiththerapidCAglue.Startthebuildingbyassemblingtheenginenacelles(Fig.
1).Thengluethewingstothefuselagecentralpart,and,using asharp modellingknife, cuta1-2mmdeepslitintothewingfromboth
upperand lowerside.Press thecarbonrodintotheslitand gluetherefrombothsides, usingthethinCAglue(Fig. 2).Workonaflat
surface toensurethecompleteassemblyisnotdistorted.Insertthecarbontubethrough thelocationgroovesand slideontoit the
elevatorlever,thenthetwosecuringringsfromeachside, respectively(Fig. 3).Intheenginenacelles, cutthegroovesfortheelevator
axisbushings. Movethesecuringringstotheirextremepositionstoeliminateanyplayinthecarbontube. Thencarefullygluethe
rings,ensuringatthesametimethefreedomofmovementofthecarbontube. UsingtheFig. 4asaguide,glueinplace thebushings
fortheslabelevator. Pierce/drillaholethroughacubeofEPP andslideitontothecontrolrod,toserveasthecontrolrodguide.Glue
theelevatorservo inplace (Fig.5),settingthecorrectdistanceaccordingtothepositionof thecut-outinthenacelleandinstallthe
elevatorcontrolrods(Fig.6).
Checktheneutralpositionof theservo andgluetherespectivehalvesof theelevator(Fig.7).Ensuretheirplanesareparalleland that
theyareatthesameanglerelativetothewings. Gluetheenginenacellestothefuselage(Fig.8).Gluethefuselagemainpart(Fig.9)
andtheverticaltailsurfaces(Fig.10).UsingtheFig.11asaguide,gluethemotorbulkheadandtherearfuselagealuminiumdoubler,
screw-onthemotorbearers(Fig.12)and securethemotor.
Place thespeedcontrollerasperFig. 13.Gluetheenginenacelleupperpartinplace (Fig.14).Thelocationof theaccumulator
batteryisshownof theFig.15. Using ahand-heldsolderinggun,cutaholeforthereceiverintothefuselage(sothattheservo cables
wouldreachit).Ifthecontrollerservo cableislongenough, weneednottousetheextensionservo cable. Connectcableextensionsto
thecontrollerpowercables, orcuttheoriginalcablesshorterandsplice themwithnewcableslongasnecessary. Themodelisnow
readyforbalancing. Byshiftingthebatteries, set thepositionof thecentreof gravitytosome320 mmfromthemotorbulkhead.Then
cut, usingasoldering gun,anopeningforthebatterypack;thedimensionsof thebatteryopeningshallbesome2to3mmless thanthe
outerdimensionsof thebatterypack, sothatthebatterieswouldholdinplace withoutanyextrafixation.
Nowthemodeliscomplete;forthefirstflightset thedeflectionof thecontrolstothehalfof theirtravel. As themodel, thanks
tothepropellertorque,tendstoroll totheleft, setthetrailingedgeof therighthalfof theelevatorsome4mmup.Themodelhas
specificflightcharacteristics–thankstoitslayoutitcanflynotonlyfast, butalsoveryslow. Bearinmindthatthepropellertorque
effectismuchmorepronouncedduring slowflight, especiallyafterthelaunch,and themodelrollsslightlytoleft.
Thismodelisnotoy–thereforeavoidflyingincrowdedorsuchplaceswherehealthorpropertynotonlyofyourselves, but
alsoof third personscouldbejeopardised..
