2. Handling Precautions
•The MB2144-227-01 is precision-manufactured to improve dimensional accuracy and to ensure
reliable contact. These products are therefore sensitive to mechanical shock, and must be handled
carefully. To ensure correct use in the appropriate environment, use the products only as instructed
in Section 4 "Using the Products" and Section 5 "Connection”.
•The bypass capacitor for the microcontroller (MCU) and power supply, the jumper plug for
switching the C terminal and two connectors for connection with the universal cable assembly are
mounted on the probe header. Be sure to read Section 4 "Using the Products" and Section 5
"Connection”, before using the probe header to prevent incorrect cable connection, which could
cause incorrect operation or product failure..
•Because ports 0 and 1 of the MCU are connected with cables, they are susceptible to noise. If ports
0 and 1 are used as input ports, drive the element connected to the ports with a current of 1 to 2
mA when the port outputs an L level voltage. Be careful not to read ports only with a pull-down
resistor connected, because the values may not be correctly read.

3. Notes on Designing
■ Restrictions of PC board design for the user system
Once the probe header is connected to the user system, the heights of parts mounted in the space
around the probe header are restricted.
The PC board of the user system must be designed with due consideration given to this restriction
(Figure 1).
*: The height differs slightly depending on how the socket is engaged.

4. Procedure for set
■ Setting the jumper plug to switch the C terminal
The jumper plug for switching the C terminal on the probe header is used to switch the C terminal
capacitive-termination.
A 0.1 µF capacitor is mounted on the probe header to perform C terminal capacitive-termination.
Depending on the operating environment, change the setting of the jumper plug to select whether
C terminal capacitive-termination is performed on a user system or on the probe header. When
the product is delivered, the jumper plug is set to side 3 (the probe header side). When C terminal
capacitive-termination is done on the user system, set the jumper plug to side 1.

5. Procedure for connection
■ Connecting the universal cable assembly
To connect the universal cable assembly and the probe header, connect the two 34-pin connectors of
the universal cable assembly and the two 34-pin connectors on the probe header.
•The connectors on the universal cable assembly, and the mounting section of the connectors on the
probe header are marked "A" and "B" to distinguish the connections. Correctly connect connector
A of the universal cable assembly to connector A on the probe header, and connector B of the
universal cable assembly to connector B on the probe header.

■ Connecting the probe header to a user system
To connect the probe header and the user system, connect the probe header to NQPACK064SB*
mounted on the user system using YQPACK064SB.
1) An index mark (one corner of the YQPACK064SB or NQPACK064SB is clipped) indicates the
first pin on the YQPACK064SB and on the NQPACK064SB. Mount the probe header by using the
index marks to align the first pins.
2) After connecting the probe header to the user system, secure the probe header using the supplied
screws*. Secure the probe header to the NQPACK064SB by inserting the screws in the holes
drilled in the four corners of the mounting part of the MCU. Be sure to secure the probe header
evenly at the four corners with the screws. Tightening the screws too much may damage the probe
header and NQPACK064SB.
*: The NQPACK064SB and screws for securing probe header are supplied with the product.

6. Mounting Mass-production MCUs
■ Mounting
In order to mount a mass production MCU on the user system, use the HQPACK064SB140 which is
supplied with the product.
1) To mount a mass production MCU on the user system, match the index mark (▲) on the
NQPACK064SB mounted on the user system with the index mark (●) on the mass production
MCU.
2) Confirm that the mass production MCU is correctly mounted on the NQPACK064SB. Next, insert
the HQPACK064SB140 into a NQPACK064SB (see Figure 5).
The pin of HQPACK064SB140 is thin and easy to bent. Insert NQPACK064SB after confirm that
the pin of HQPACK064SB140 is not bent.
3) Insert each HQPACK064SB140 screw for securing in each of four tapped holes on the
HQPACK064SB140, and then first tighten the screws in opposing corners followed by the two
remaining screws.
To tighten the screws, use the special screwdriver supplied with the NQPACK064SB to finally
tighten the four screws in sequence. Tightening the screws too tight might result in defective
contact.
