Inthe caseofconnecting aCableModemyou mustconnectthe coaxialcablefrom
yourcableservicetothethreadedcoaxialcableconnectonthe back ofthe cable
modem.
Step1.ConnectingtheConsolePort
Forthe initialconfiguration ofyourVoIPGateway,you need touseterminal
emulatorsoftwareonaworkstation and connectittothe VoIPGatewaythe console
port. Connectthe 9-pinend ofthe consolecabletothe consoleportofthe VoIP
Gatewayand the otherend toaserialport(COM1,COM2orotherCOMport)ofyour
workstation.You canuseanextension RS-232cableifthe enclosed one istooshort.
Afterthe initialsetup,you canmodifytheconfiguration remotelythrough telnet
connections.
Step2.ConnecttheVoIPGatewaytotheWANport
Connectthe WANport(silver)on the VoIPGatewaytothe Ethernetportonthe
cablemodemusing the cablethat camewithyourcablemodem. The Ethernetport on
the cablemodemissometimeslabeled “PC”or“Workstation”.

Step3.ConnectingthePCtotheLAN
If you havemorethan one PC,you mustusean externalhub.Connectthe
10/100MLANPort(gold)onthe VoIPGatewaytoaportonthe hub using astraight
through Ethernetcable.If you onlyhaveonePC,you can connecttheVoIPGateway
tothePCdirectlywithout ahub. ForasinglePC,connect the10/100MLANportonthe
VoIPGatewaytothe NetworkAdapteron the PCusing acrossovercable(redtag).
Step4.ConnectingthePowerAdaptertoyourVoIPGateway
Connect thepoweradaptertothe portlabeled POWER on the rearpanelVoIP
Gateway.
Caution:TopreventdamagetotheVoIPGateway,firstmake sureyouhavethe
correctACpoweradapter. Please see theAppendices forACpoweradapter
specificationsforyourregion.
Step5.GroundingtheVoIPGateway
If youwanttoground theVoIPGatewaythenconnect agroundedwiretothe F.G.
(FrameGround)of theVoIPGateway.

If you arenotsurewhetherthe TCP/IPProtocolhasbeen installed,followthese
setupstocheck,and ifnecessary, installTCP/IPontoyourPCs.
