Legs
Raise front of unit and block. Do not lay unit on it’s back.
Position square leg insert into font leg retainer opening and
tap up until it seats at collar ange. Repeat at rear of unit
using round leg insert, making sure all four legs are adjusted
to same height. Legs can be adjusted to overcome an uneven
oor
Assembly of Filter Quick in a Battery
All heavy duty batteries equipment is aligned and tted at
the factory, from left to right and must installed in this order.
There is a diagram provided with every heavy duty battery.
A. All such units should be placed in their respective battery
position. Detach valve panels and, to prevent damage,
remove them from the area where the battery is being
assembled.
B. Level each unit by adjusting the 6”legs, or where legs are
not used, adjust level with shims. Check for level across
front and back tops and on the burner box sides, using a
spirit level. Readjust legs, if required.
C. Connect units together by mating the unions at each
end of the manifold. (Adjoining units must have
matching unions, unless the union parts are of the same
specication, a leakproof connection cannot be assured).
Hand tighten unions at this point.
D. The units should be fastened at the rear by inserting 5/16”
bolts through the holes provided at the rear of the burner
box sides. Install washer and nut and hand tighten. Be
sure of proper unit alignment in the battery before nal
tightening of these bolts or unions. Improper tightening
will cause“fanning”or “bowing” of batteried units.
Assembly of Return Lines
(Refer to Fig. 1)
From the“Tee”on the lter and the Fryer interconnect as
follows:
A. On the left side of the“Tee”install item 4 (1/2 pipe 2-1/2”
long) and the male half of the union item 5. Use Teon
tape on the threads.
B. On the right side of the“Tee”install item 7 (1/2 pipe 12”
long) and the female half of the union item 5. Use Teon
tape on the threads.
C. On the end units of the Filter/Fryer Battery use a pipe
plug on the open ends of the“Tee”. Use Teon tape on the
threads.
Assembly of Drain Tubes
(Refer to Fig. 1,2,3)
NOTE: Drain tube assembly is to be done after units are
batteried.
1. Install close nipple 13 in ball valve.
2. Slip gasket 14 over close nipple.
3. Place drain tube 1 or 8 (see special note) over close
nipple.
4. Install washer retainer 15 and nut retainer 16 and tighten
securely.
5. Install gasket 12 and cover 13 as shown securing with two
wing nuts.

Part #1382606 Rev 2 (12/07)Page 6
6. Cap the extreme right and or left drain tube by installing
the gasket 17 and cover 18 on the end of the drain tube.
Clamp in place as shown in Fig. 3.
7. All remaining drain tube joints must be fastened. Place
gasket 17 between joint and fasten with clamps as shown
in Fig. 3.
8. Special note concerning the use of item 1 and 8.
A. The rst Fryer to the right of the lter uses item 1
– 12”drain tube and any successive Fryer uses Item 8
– 17”drain tube. Refer to Fig. 1.
B. If there is only one Fryer to the left of the lter use
item 1 – 12”drain tube. If there is more than one Fryer
to the left use item 8 – 17”drain tube. Use item 8 on
any successive Fryers until you reach the last Fryer on
the left use item
1 – 12”tube.

OPERATION
Filter Quick
IMPORTANT: never operate the lter unless the fryers
have been brought up to a cooking temperature, and lter
heater has been turned on for at least 30 minutes.
The Filter Quick System revolves around two original
inventions – one, the Power shower that snaps into the
frypot and – two, the self-aligning lter holder that can be
lifted out and cleaned easily.
1. Shut down Fryer by rotating thermostat dial clockwise.
2. Snap power shower into frypot connection. The inlet tube
on the Power shower snaps into a tting in the frypot.
3. Open Drain Valve. Drain valve safety switch will turn Fryer
o if operator forgets.
4. Pull lter lever to start lter pump., clean ltered fat
is pumped to the Power shower. A carefully designed
shower pattern directs jets of hot fat down over every
inch of the frypot. Crumbs and sediment are ushed o
sides and splash area into the ltering system.
5. After shorting is completely ltered, close drain valve,
allow fryer to ll before disengaging the lter level to turn
o the lter pump.
6. Remove power shower assembly
7. Set Temperature to start cooking
The entire ltering operation is automatic and usually
requires only three (3) minutes in the 35 lbs fryer. The
operator does not have to handle a hot hose, which can
be dangerous, or change a hot lter. Employees are free to
do other tasks while ltering is in progress. As many as six
35 lb GARLAND gas fryers may be batteried together and
manifolded to a single Filter Quick System. One fryer may
be ltered while others are still in use. As each is ltered and
relled, the next fryer can be ltered by moving the Power
shower and repeating the operation.
Changing Filter
1. Removing the lter holder is accomplished by gently
pulling the insulated handle on the lter holder towards
you, disconnecting the lter from the pump and pulling
the caster-mounted drain drawer out of the cabinet
2. Once you have disconnected the lter, you are now ready
to pull out the drain pan and remove the crumb screen.
3. Remove the dirty lter paper and replace with clean new
paper. The dirty lter paper can be removed, its holder
cleaned and clean lter paper and lter powder installed
– all in a slack time period. Use extreme caution not
to contaminate the lter holder with sediment when
removing the dirty lter paper.
4. Push the drawer back into place. The self-aligning slip
connection is made to the pump and the system is ready
for use. The complete change is made in less than a
minute.
The Filter Quick system saves fat, labor costs and makes a
formerly hard job easy

Part #1382606 Rev 2 (12/07)Page 8
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
NEVER operate the fryer or the lter without shortening in
the system.
The shortening should be ltered as often as needed. If a
heavy volume of breaded food is fried, it may be necessary
to lter as often as every hour. This will increase the life of the
shortening and produce a better tasting product. If you are
using solid shortening, the lter heater should be left ON all
night to prevent shortening solidication in the pump and
the pan.
Your lter Quick System is designed to allow ltration several
times per day. Frequent ltration will extend the life of your
shortening and also result in a better fried product. Use it
often to save money.
Frequency of ltration depends upon types of red products
and amount of breading, meal crumbs, etc., that accumulate
in the fryers. Heavy accumulations require more frequent
ltering. The best rule to follow is to lter“before you think
it is needed”. Even with a product such as French fries, you
should lter 2-3 times per day for best results.
The frypot should be cleaned periodically. This operation can
be combined with disposing of the used shortening. After
the fryer has been empties, the frypot should be drained and
the drain valve closed. Fill frypot to oil mark with water and
correct amount of Fryer N’Griddle Cleaner, then lower your
baskets into the frypot and bring the water to a boil for 10-15
minutes. Now you are ready to empty and wipe the frypot
dry.
IMPORTANT When draining WATER from the frypots, be
sure to remove the lter pan and direct the drain pipe into a
refuse pan or stock pot. DO NOT allow water to be drawn into
the pump.
