eRecovery- Create backup CD’s or DVD’s
Use Read Writable media for these backups. f there is an option to create
an Application CD, you will need to create this as well. Check with the

eSolutions team to see if they need to use the Application CD to post the
drivers. Once the backup CD’s are created, browse these CD’s and make
sure there is a drivers folder or HTML (under How to User directory) so that
we know the customers will have a driver disk. f there is no driver disk or
way for the customer to install drivers please make note of this below in
the Notes section.

eRecovery Notes:
E-Recovery/Running the created backup CD/DVD’s
f the system shipped with OEM recovery CD’s verify the E-RECOVERY instructions that
ship with the system/recovery CD’s are correct. f the instructions are not correct,
annotate and submit to eSolutions. Pictured screen shots should be taken of anomalies,
errors, or differences from the original setup.
Note differences in E-RECOVERY load compared to the initial Setup.
1.) As soon as the unit is owered on, Immediately start ta ing the Alt+F10 keys
(Alt needs to be ressed down when the F10 key is ressed, then release both and re eat)
2.) The customer will see “Windows is loading files”. At this oint the customer can sto ta ing
the Alt+F10 keys. (Customer will sometimes get an Edit Boot O tions screen, If they see
Windows Is Loading Files before the Boot O tion screen, they can ress enter and it will load the
eRecovery, otherwise ressing enter will load to windows.)
3.) Next it will say “Starting Windows”, then “Please wait a Moment”.
4.) The “Gateway Recovery Management” Program will come u , the first screen, or ste 1 will
ask to “Select Restore Ty e”.
5.) The first o tion on this screen will be “Com letely Restore System to Factory Defaults” with a
descri tion of this o tion below it.
6.) The second o tion on this screen below the first o tion will be “Restore O erating System and
Retain User Data” with a descri tion of this o tion below it. (There is also an Exit O tion at the
bottom which will allow you to exit out of the rogram and boot to windows.)
7.) When you select either o tion, it will go to ste 2 if a assword is created on the Recovery
rogram. It will rom t you to enter it, otherwise if no assword was setu it will ski to ste 3.
8.) On the ste 3 screen it will say “Notice” and ex lain how the o tion will erase all existing data
on the Gateway C: Drive and return the unit to factory defaults as well as making sure the unit is
lugged in to the ac ada ter and that all other devices are disconnected. At the bottom of this
screen you can select, “ revious”, “next” or “cancel”.

9.) When you select “next”, it will go to Ste 4: “Restore Destination” and give the “Hard Drive
Name”, “Partition Label”, and “Partition Size”. Again at the bottom you have 3 o tions: “ revious”,
“next” or “cancel”.
10.) When you select “next”, it will have a o u with a notice ex laining how this action will
erase all data on the Gateway artition and to click “OK” to continue or “Cancel” to abort.
11.) When you select “OK” it will go to Ste 5: “Restore Progress”. This age will give you the
Restore Source, Destination, S eed, Ela sed Time, Time Left, and Current Progress. Once the
rogress gets to %100 it will say “Please wait a moment” with a rogress bar at the bottom. This
bar will load without any indication of time ela sed or left. Once it gets to %100 it will go to Ste 6.
12.) Once Ste 5 is fully com leted, Ste 6 “Finished” will a ear and inform the customer that
the Restore has finished and to ress “OK” at the bottom to Restart the com uter.
13.) Once you select “OK” it will say “Please wait a moment”, then “Starting Windows”. From this
oint the unit will install the setu and devices and restart once more when finished. When the
unit restarts it will state “Starting Windows” again and the setu will continue with installation.
After a few moment it will load to the Windows Setu as it did when the customer first urchased
the unit. At this oint the customer can now setu the com uter settings and enjoy our roduct.
Additional OOBE Notes:
1.) This Unit shi s with Windows 7 Touch Screen Ca ability. The touch screen
ca ability is built into the Windows 7 OS and only functions within the OS. The
unit has touch screen software such as the Gateway TouchMusic, or Touch
Portal which is Interactive Multimedia software for touch screen use. The screen
su orts multi touch and requires nothing more then minimal ressure when
using. Also su lied with the unit is a screen cloth to wi e the screen of finger
rints. The touch screen feature is fast to res ond and as the touch screen is
built into Windows 7, if a customer accidentally deleted files ertaining to the use
of this feature, the OS would have to be com letely restored and it can not be
reloaded via the User Created A lication and Drivers disc.
