LRAD Power Pack
Quick Install Guide
CHARGING
Important Notes
• Charging must be performed indoors to prevent the internal batteries and electronics from exposure to the elements while
the lid is open.
• All batteries lose capacity through self-discharge. For best performance, it is recommended that re-charge be applied
every 6 months or sooner while in storage, prior to putting power pack into service. Charge at a temperature between
5 °F (-15 °C) and 122 °F (50 °C).
• DO NOT store power packs in hot places—elevated temperatures can lead to capacity loss, leakage, or rupture. Power Packs
should be stored at a temperature above -4 °F (-20 °C) and below 140 °F (60 °C).
Procedure
1. Connect the AC power cable (item H) to an electrical outlet. Cable must be plugged into a 120/230 VAC ground fault circuit
interrupter (GFCI) outlet.
2. Once connected, the Pack will begin charging, and LEDs on the battery charger (item J) will illuminate.
The battery charger has the following LED indicators (shown above):
• AC Power: Illuminates blue when the power cord is plugged into an electrical outlet and AC power is being received.
• System Check OK: Illuminates green after the battery charger successfully completes a self test without any issues.
The self test analyzes batteries and connections to ensure charging can successfully take place.
• NOTE: The self test happens automatically whenever the charger receives AC power.
• NOTE: The self test can take up to two minutes.
• Charge Mode: Indicates the charging status.
• Charging: Illuminates red when charging. Will also flash red during system check.
• Conditioning: Illuminates amber to indicate batteries are holding at 14.6 VDC and charging while conditioning.
• Auto Maintain: Illuminates green when batteries are fully charged and being automatically maintained while
idle.
• Battery Bank Trouble Status: Illuminates red if there is a wiring problem or fault at one of the batteries connected to the
charger.
• Battery Type: Illuminates red for Flooded/STD AGM, the type of batteries used with the power pack.
3. Once sufficiently charged, unplug and store the AC power cord. The Power Pack is now ready for operation.
