Sehr geehrter Kunde,
sehr geehrte Kundin,
wir danken Ihnen für den Kauf dieses Qualitätsproduktes von GENIE. Bitte lesen Sie
diese Anleitung zunächst vor Inbetriebnahme sorgfältig durch.
Beachten Sie insbesondere die folgenden Vorsichtshinweise. Bitte bewahren Sie
diese Anleitung für eine spätere Einsichtnahme auf, bei einer Weitergabe des Artikels
bitte die Anleitung mitgeben. Bei Fragen zum Gerät oder Beanstandungen finden Sie
bitte unsere Service-Informationen am Schluss dieser Anleitung.
Wichtige Hinweise
1. Stellen Sie die Waage auf einen festen Untergrund, damit sie einen sicheren
Stand hat und nicht durch Herunterfallen zerstört werden kann.
2. Benutzen Sie das Gerät nicht in der Nähe von Wasser oder sonstigen
Flüssigkeiten. Vermeiden Sie den Kontakt zu jeglicher Flüssigkeit. Sollte das
Gerät dennoch feucht oder nass werden, sollte es umgehend trockengewischt
werden.
3. Vermeiden Sie den Kontakt mit übermäßigem Schmutz und Staub ebenso wie
harte Stöße.
4. Stellen Sie die Waage möglichst nicht in der Nähe von Heizgeräten oder
sonstigen Geräten, die Hitze produzieren, auf.
5. Achten Sie beim Batterietausch immer auf die richtige Polung (+/-).
6. Bei längerem Nichtbenutzen des Gerätes sollten Sie die Batterien aus dem Gerät
entfernen.
7. Sofern das Gerät in irgendeiner Weise beschädigt wurde oder nicht mehr
ordnungsgemäß funktioniert, ist qualifiziertes Servicepersonal gefordert. Wir
verweisen an dieser Stelle auf unsere Garantiebestimmungen und Service-
Informationen am Ende dieser Betriebsanleitung.
Sicherheitshinweise im Umgang mit Batterien/Akkus
Warnung! Es besteht Erstickungsgefahr durch Batterien/Akkus.
•Halten Sie Kinder von Batterien/Akkus fern.
•Suchen Sie im Falle eines Verschluckens sofort einen Arzt auf.
Vorsicht! Es bestehen unterschiedliche Gefahren im Umgang mit Batterien/Akkus.
•Versuchen Sie niemals, nicht aufladbare Batterien wieder aufzuladen, schließen
Sie Batterien/Akkus nicht kurz und/oder öffnen Sie Batterien/Akkus nicht.
Überhitzung, Brandgefahr oder Platzen können die Folge sein.
•Unsachgemäßer Umgang mit Batterien/Akkus kann Ihre Gesundheit und die
Umwelt gefährden. Batterien/Akkus können giftige und umweltschädliche
Schwermetalle enthalten (Cd = Cadmium, Hg = Quecksilber, Pb = Blei).

Daher ist eine getrennte Entsorgung und Verwertung von Altbatterien für
Umwelt und Gesundheit unumgänglich.
•Die Anschlussklemmen dürfen nicht kurzgeschlossen werden.
•Werfen Sie Batterien/Akkus niemals in Feuer oder Wasser.
•Setzen Sie Batterien/Akkus keiner mechanischen Belastung aus.
•Auslaufende Batterien/Akkus können das Gerät beschädigen. Im Falle eines
Auslaufens der/s Batterie/Akkus entfernen Sie diese sofort aus dem Gerät, um
Beschädigungen zu vermeiden. Seien Sie beim Umgang mit beschädigten oder
auslaufenden Batterien/Akkus besonders vorsichtig und verwenden Sie
Schutzhandschuhe.
•Vermeiden Sie den Kontakt mit Haut, Augen und Schleimhäuten. Spülen Sie bei
Kontakt mit Batteriesäure die betroffenen Stellen sofort mit reichlich klarem
Wasser und suchen Sie umgehend einen Arzt auf. Vermeiden Sie extreme
Bedingungen und Temperaturen, die auf die/den Batterie/Akku einwirken
können, z. B. auf Heizkörpern oder in direktem Sonnenlicht.
•Verwenden Sie ausschließlich den angegebenen Batterietyp/Akkutyp.
•Unterschiedliche Batterietypen/Akkutypen oder neue und gebrauchte
Batterien/Akkus dürfen nicht zusammen benutzt werden.
•Batterien/Akkus sind mit der richtigen Polarität einzusetzen.
•Schalten Sie das Gerät aus und entnehmen Sie die Batterien/Akkus, wenn Sie das
Gerät längere Zeit nicht nutzen.
•Leere Batterien/Akkus sind aus dem Gerät zu entfernen und sicher zu entsorgen.
•Die Batterien/Akkus sind vor der Entsorgung des Geräts zu entfernen.
•Sie sind gesetzlich verpflichtet, Batterien bei Ihrem Händler bzw. über die vom
zuständigen Entsorgungsträger bereitgestellten Sammelstellen zu entsorgen.
Wichtig:
Das LCD-Display kann u.U. beeinflusst werden durch elektromagnetische Effekte, z.B.
durch den Betrieb eines Radios in der unmittelbaren Nähe des Gerätes. In solchen
Fällen sollten Sie die Störungsquelle ermitteln und entfernen. Ggf. müssen Sie die
Waage danach erneut aus- und wieder einschalten.
Batterie Einlegen
Achtung: Wichtiger technischer Hinweis vor der ersten Inbetriebnahme!
Entfernen Sie bitte das Isolierband vom Batteriefach.
1. Drehen Sie die Waage herum und legen Sie sie vorsichtig auf eine saubere,
gerade Unterlage.
2. Öffnen Sie nun das Batteriefach.
3. Legen Sie eine "CR2032"-Batterie in das Batteriefach ein und achten Sie darauf,
dass die positive Seite nach oben zeigt.
4. Schließen Sie anschließend das Batteriefach.

Batteriestatus
1. Wenn auf dem Display das Batteriesymbol erscheint, deutet dies auf einen
niedrigen Batteriestand hin.
2. Öffnen Sie das Batteriefach wie oben beschrieben und tauschen Sie die beiden
Batterien durch neue Batterien aus.
3. Verbrauchte Batterien dürfen nicht im Haushaltsmüll entsorgt werden, sondern
müssen in dafür ausgerüsteten Sammelzentren entsorgt werden!
Batterien entnehmen
Führen Sie folgende Schritte durch, um die Batterien zu entnehmen.
1. Nehmen Sie die Batteriefachabdeckung ab.
Vorsicht! Kurzschlussgefahr.
➔Entnehmen Sie Batterien nur mit einem nicht leitfähigen Gegenstand, z. B. ein
Holz- oder Kunststoffspatel.
2. Entnehmen Sie die Batterien.
3. Setzen Sie die Batteriefachabdeckung wieder auf.

Funktionsweise
Einschalten der Waage
1. Schalten Sie die Waage ein, indem Sie die Taste “TARE/ ON” drücken und
kurzhalten.
2. Auf dem LCD Display erscheinen kurz alle Anzeigen, dann folgt die eingestellte
Gewichtseinheit.
3. Die Waage schaltet sich bei Nichtbenutzung automatisch nach ca. 1 Minuten
aus.

Wiegen
1. Schalten Sie die Waage wie zuvor beschrieben ein.
2. Legen Sie das zu wiegende Objekt auf den Glasteller. Das exakte Gewicht wird
grammgenau ermittelt.
Einstellen der Maßeinheit
Durch Drücken der Taste „UNIT“ (Einheit) können Sie zwischen den Einheiten Gramm
(g) und Unzen (oz) wechseln. Die gewählte Einheit wird durch einen kleinen Pfeil im
Display angezeigt.
Benutzung der Zuwiege-Funktion (tara):
1. Schalten Sie die Waage wie oben beschrieben ein.
2. Auf dem LCD Display erscheint „0g / 0.0oz“
3. Legen Sie das zu wiegende Objekt auf den Glasteller. Das Gewicht wird
angezeigt.
4. Drücken Sie nun die Taste “ TARE/ ON” erneut. Das Gewicht wird gelöscht und
die Waage zeigt nun erneut den Nullwert „0g / 0.0oz“ an.
5. Nun legen Sie das nächste Objekt auf die Waage, um dessen Wert zu ermitteln.
Hinweis: Nach Entfernen aller Objekte von der Waage wird ein negativer Wert
angezeigt. Drücken Sie „TARE/ ON” erneut, um den Wert zu löschen.
Überladung
Wenn das Gewicht der zugeführten Objekte die maximale Ladekapazität der Waage
von 176 oz bzw. 5kg überschreitet, erscheint im Display „EEE“. Entfernen Sie
unverzüglich das Gewicht vom Glasteller der Waage, um Schäden an dem Gerät zu
vermeiden.
Ausschalten
1. Die Waage kann manuell ausgeschaltet werden, indem die Taste“ TARE/ ON” für
mindestens 2 Sekunden gedrückt und gehalten wird.
2. Bei Nichtbenutzung schaltet die Waage sich automatisch nach ca. 1 Minuten aus.
Pflege & Reinigung
Reinigen Sie die Waage mit einem weichen, feuchten Tuch. Vermeiden Sie aggressive
Reinigungsmittel und stellen Sie die Waage nicht direkt ins Wasser.

Entsorgung
Entsorgen Sie Verpackungsmaterialien entsprechend den lokalen
Vorschriften.
Das nebenstehende Symbol bedeutet, dass elektrische und
elektronische Altgeräte aufgrund gesetzlicher Bestimmungen
getrennt vom Hausmüll zu entsorgen sind. Entsorgen Sie Ihr Gerät
bei der Sammelstelle Ihres kommunalen Entsorgungsträgers.

Dear Customer,
Congratulations on your purchase of the GENIE Digital Scale. This is a precision
instrument designed specifically to provide reliability, durability, and outstanding
performance. To ensure the scale continues to deliver peak performance, please
read these operation instructions carefully and thoroughly prior to initial usage.
Important
1. Place the scale on an even surface for a secure stand.
2. The manufacturer does not warrant this unit to be waterproof. Do not expose
this product to rain or moisture.
3. Avoid contact with too much dirt and dust as well as impacts.
4. Do not use the scale under sun or keep it away from heating appliances such as
oven, stove, etc.
5. Be aware of the correct polarity (+/-) when changing the battery.
6. If you do not use the device for a longer period, we suggest taking out the
batteries.
7. Use the scale for its intended purpose only.
Safety information regarding handling batteries
Warning! Risk of suffocation through batteries.
•Keep batteries out of reach of children.
•Seek medical attention immediately if one is swallowed.
Caution! There are different risks involved when dealing with batteries.
•Never attempt to recharge standard batteries, never short circuit batteries
and/or open batteries. Doing so leads to a potential risk of overheating, fire or
explosion.
•Improper handling of batteries/rechargeable batteries can endanger your health
and the environment. Batteries/rechargeable batteries may contain toxic and
environmentally harmful heavy metals (Cd = cadmium, Hg = mercury, Pb = lead).
Therefore, hand in used batteries at a municipal collection point. Therefore,
separate disposal and recycling of spent batteries is essential for the
environment and health.
•Ensure the connection terminals are not short-circuited.
•Never throw batteries into a fire or water.
•Never expose batteries to any mechanical loads.
•Leaking batteries could cause damage to the device. If a battery should start to
leak, remove it from the device immediately to prevent any further damage.

Take the utmost care when handling damaged or leaking batteries and always
wear protective gloves.
•Avoid any contact with the skin, eyes, and mucous membranes. Rinse any parts
of the body which have meet battery acid with plenty of clean water and contact
a doctor immediately. Avoid extreme conditions and temperatures which could
affect the batteries, e.g., by placing them on radiators or exposing them to direct
sunlight.
•Only use batteries of the type specified.
•Never use batteries of different types or new and old batteries together.
•Ensure batteries are inserted with the correct polarity.
•If the device will not be used for a longer period, switch the device off and
remove the batteries.
•Remove empty batteries from the device and dispose of them according to the
applicable directives.
•The batteries must be removed from the device before its disposal.
•You are legally obliged to dispose of batteries at your dealer or at the collection
points provided by the responsible waste disposal authority.
Note:
The display value may be affected by electromagnetic influences, e.g., when a radio
is operated in the immediate vicinity of the device. The product can be used for its
intended purpose again when the interference is discontinued but may need to be
switched on again to re-start.
Battery Installation
Attention: Important technical advice for first use!
Please tear off the battery protection.
1. Turn the entire scale upside down and reset it securely on a firm, flat surface.
2. Remove the battery door.
3. Install one “CR2032” battery in the battery compartment, ensuring that the
positive side faces upward.
4. Close the battery door.
Battery Status
1. If the battery symbol appears on the display, this indicates a low battery level.
2. Open the battery compartment as described above and replace the two
batteries with new ones.
3. Used batteries must not be disposed of in household waste but must be taken to
collection centres equipped for this purpose!

Remove batteries
Follow these steps to remove the batteries.
1. Remove the battery cover.
Caution! Danger of short circuit.
➔Remove batteries only with a non-conductive object, e.g., a wooden or
plastic spatula.
2. Remove the batteries.
3. Replace the battery compartment cover.

Operation
Activating the Scale
1. Turn the scale on by pressing “TARE/ ON” key
2. The LCD screen will show all characters for a few seconds and then 0g or 0.0oz
will be shown on the display.
3. The scale turns off automatically after being idle for one minute.
Weighing an Item
1. Turn on the scale.
2. Place an item on the platform and the exact weight of item will be displayed.
Selecting Weight Unit
By pressing the "UNIT" key, you can switch between the units grams (g) and ounces
(oz). The selected unit is indicated by a small arrow in the display.

Using the tare mode:
1. Turn the scale on.
2. “0g/0.0oz” will be shown on the display.
3. Place an item on the weighing platform and read the value accordingly.
4. Press the “TARE/ ON” again. The weight of this item will be eliminated, and the
reading will change to “0g/0.0oz”.
5. Place next item on the weighing platform and get the reading.
Note: The scale will display a negative reading when you remove all items. Press the
“TARE/ ON” key once and the negative reading will disappear.
Overload
When the loading capacity exceeds the maximum capacity (176 oz or 5 kg) of the
Digital Scale, “EEE” will be displayed on the LCD screen. Remove the item(s) from the
scale platform to avoid damage to the scale.
Power Off
1. The scale can be power off manually by pressing the “TARE/ ON” key for 2
seconds
2. The scale turns off automatically after being idle for one minute.
Maintenance
Clean with a soft cloth. Do not immerse directly into water or detergent, scrub with
abrasive material or use corrosive cleanser.

Disposal
Packaging materials must be disposed of according to local
regulations.
The adjacent symbol indicates laws dictate that electrical and
electronic apparatus no longer required must be disposed of
separate from domestic waste. Dispose of your device at a
collection point provided by your local public waste authority.

Defective or empty batteries must be recycled in accordance with
Directive 2006/66/EC and its amendments. Return batteries and
the device via the collection points provided.
Observe the identification on the packaging materials during the
waste sorting process; they are identified by abbreviations (b) and

Conservez ce mode d’emploi afin de pouvoir le consulter ultérieurement et si vous
cédez l’article, remettez SVP aussi le mode d’emploi au nouvel utilisateur. Si vous
avez des questions ou des réclamations concernant l’appareil, veuillez-vous référer

Observations Importantes
1. Placer la balance sur une surface ferme afin qu'elle ne puisse pas bouger et ne
risque pas de tomber.
2. Ne jamais utiliser l’appareil à proximité d’eau ou de tout autre liquide. Éviter
tout contact avec un liquide quelconque. S'il arrivait toutefois que l'appareil soit
humide ou mouillé, essuyez-le immédiatement.
3. Éviter tout contact avec poussière et saletés importantes. Éviter les grands
chocs.
4. Éviter de placer le pèse-lettre à proximité d’appareils de chauffage ou de toute
autre source de chaleur.
5. N’utiliser que les piles lithium fournies ou des piles équivalentes de type CR2032.
Toujours remplacer, le cas échéant, les deux piles. Ne pas combiner piles neuves
et piles usagées. Veiller à respecter la polarité des piles (+/-) lors du
remplacement des piles.
6. Enlever les piles de l’appareil si ce dernier n’est pas utilisé pendant une période
prolongée.
7. Si l’appareil a été endommagé d’une quelconque façon ou ne fonctionne plus
parfaitement, adressez-vous SVP à un technicien qualifié. Nous nous référons ici
à nos conditions de garantie et aux informations SAV fournies à la fin de ce mode
d’emploi.
Consignes de sécurité lors de la manipulation de piles/accus
Avertissement ! Risque d'étouffement dû aux piles/accus.
•Tenez-les piles/accus hors de portée des enfants.
•En cas d'ingestion, appelez un médecin de toute urgence.

Prudence ! L'utilisation de piles/d'accus recèle différents dangers.
•N'essayez jamais de recharger des piles non rechargeables, ne court-circuitez pas
les piles/accus et / ou ne les ouvrez pas. Ces actions pourraient entraîner une
surchauffe, un risque d'incendie ou leur explosion.
•Une utilisation inappropriée des piles/accumulateurs peut mettre en danger
votre santé et l'environnement. Les piles/accumulateurs peuvent contenir des
métaux lourds toxiques et nocifs pour l'environnement (Cd = cadmium, Hg =
mercure, Pb = plomb). Ramenez les piles usées à un poste de collecte communal.
C'est pourquoi l'élimination et le recyclage séparés des piles usagées sont
indispensables pour l'environnement et la santé.
•Ne pas court-circuiter les bornes.
•Ne jetez jamais les piles/accus dans du feu ou de l'eau.
•Ne soumettez pas les piles/accus à des contraintes mécaniques.
•Une fuite des piles/accus peut endommager l'appareil. En cas de fuite d'une
pile/d'un accu, retirez-la/le immédiatement de l'appareil pour éviter toute
dégradation. Manipulez-les piles/accus endommagés ou qui fuient avec une
précaution très particulière ; portez des gants de protection.
•Évitez tout contact avec la peau, les yeux et les muqueuses. En cas de contact
avec l'acide de la pile, rincez immédiatement et abondamment les zones
touchées à l'eau claire et consultez un médecin sans délai. Évitez des conditions
et des températures extrêmes qui peuvent affecter la pile/l'accu, en les posant
sur des radiateurs ou en les exposant à un ensoleillement direct.
•Utilisez exclusivement le type de pile/d'accu indiqué.
•Différents types de piles/d'accus ou des piles neuves et usagées/des accus neufs
et usagés ne doivent pas être utilisés ensemble.
•Insérez-les en respectant la polarité correcte.
•Débranchez l'appareil et retirez-les piles/les accus si vous n'utilisez pas ce
dernier pendant une période prolongée.
•Retirer les piles/accus vides de l'appareil et les éliminer en toute sécurité.
•Retirez également celles-ci/ceux-ci avant d'éliminer l'appareil.
•Vous êtes légalement tenu de vous débarrasser des piles chez votre revendeur
ou dans les points de collecte mis à disposition par l'organisme de recyclage
compétent.
Important : dans certaines circonstances, il peut arriver que l’affichage à cristaux
liquides soit exposé à une influence électromagnétique, par exemple si une radio
fonctionne à proximité immédiate de l’appareil. Dans ces cas, nous vous
recommandons d'identifier la source de perturbation et de l'éloigner. Il peut alors
être nécessaire d'éteindre et de rallumer le pèse-lettre.

Insertion Des Piles
Attention : Remarque technique importante avant la première mise en service !
Veuillez retirer le ruban isolant du compartiment à piles.
1. Retournez la balance et posez-la avec précaution sur une surface plane et
propre.
2. Ouvrez le logement des piles.
3. Insérez les deux piles lithium fournies dans le logement des piles. Vérifiez la
polarité : le pôle plus (+) doit se trouver vers le haut.
4. Refermez ensuite le logement des piles.
Statut Des Piles
•Le symbole affiché indique que les piles sont faibles.
•Ouvrez le logement des piles comme indiqué plus haut et remplacez les deux
piles boutons par de nouvelles piles. Utilisez uniquement des piles du type
CR2032.
•Ne pas jeter les piles usagées dans les ordures ménagères mais les rapporter à
un point de collecte spécifique !
Retirer les piles
Exécutez les étapes suivantes pour retirer les piles.
1. Faites coulisser vers le bas le couvercle du compartiment à piles
Attention ! Risque de court-circuit.
➔Ne retirez les piles qu'avec un objet non conducteur, par exemple une
spatule en bois ou en plastique.
2. Retirez les piles.
3. Remettez le couvercle du compartiment à piles en place
Le couvercle du compartiment à piles se verrouille en place en émettant un
"clic". Un signal sonore retentit pour confirmation.

Allumage Du Pèse-Lettres
1. Allumez la balance en appuyant quelques instants sur la touche « TARE/ ON ».
2. Toutes les informations sont visibles pendant quelques instants sur l’affichage
LCD, puis l'unité de poids paramétrée s'affiche (en général 0 g ou 0.0 oz).
3. En cas de non-utilisation, la balance s'éteint automatiquement après env. 1
minutes.
Pesage
1. Allumez la balance en suivant les indications précédentes.
2. Posez l’objet devant être pesé sur le plateau en verre. Le poids exact est affiché
au gramme près.
Réglage De L’unité De Mesure
Une fois la balance allumée, appuyez plusieurs fois successivement sur la touche «
UNIT » pour changer d’unité de mesure.

Utilisation de la fonction tare :
1. Allumez la balance en suivant les indications précédentes.
2. L'information « 0 g / 0.0 oz » est indiquée sur l'affichage LCD.
3. Posez l’objet devant être pesé sur le plateau en verre. Le poids est affiché.
4. Appuyez une nouvelle fois sur la touche « TARE/ ON ». Le poids est effacé et la
balance affiche de nouveau la valeur zéro « 0 g / 0.0 oz ».
5. Posez maintenant l’objet suivant sur la balance pour pouvoir le peser.
Remarque : dès que tous les objets sont retirés de la balance, celle-ci affiche une
valeur négative. Appuyez une nouvelle fois sur « TARE/ ON » pour pouvoir effacer
cette valeur.
Surcharge
Si le poids des objets posés est supérieur à la capacité de charge maximale de la
balance (176 oz ou 5 kg), l'affichage indique « EEE ». Enlevez immédiatement les
objets posés sur le plateau en verre de la balance pour éviter d'endommager
l'appareil.
Arrêt
1. Pour éteindre manuellement la balance, il suffit d'appuyer pendant au moins 2
secondes sur la touche « TARE/ ON ».
2. En cas de non-utilisation, la balance s'éteint automatiquement après env. 1
minute.
Entretien & Nettoyage
Utilisez un chiffon doux et humide pour nettoyer la balance. N’employez pas de
détergent agressif et ne posez pas directement la balance dans l’eau.
