Installation Overview
TheGenTentXKiinstallsinthreeeasysteps:
Strapit:InstallRatchetBuckle,AngleBraces,and
ExtensionArms.
Frameit:Installframerodtothecenterconnector,then
intothecorrectholeintheExtenderArm,andrepeaton
allfourcorners.
Coverit:SlidetheGenTentcanopyovertheframe,then
securebyslidingtheelasticstrapsundertheExtender
Arm.
OncetheGenTentisinstalled,itcanbeleftinplace
duringgeneratorstorage,oreasilyremovedandstored
separately.Shouldyouwishtostorethegeneratorwith
theGenTentattached,werecommendreleasingthe
elasticstrapstokeepthemfreshandready.
Forsimplifiedtransport,theGenTentCanopy,GenTent
FrameandtheExtenderArmsandleavingtheAngle
Bracestrapmountinplace.Alternatively,theentire
strapmountedassemblycanberemovedwhileleaving
theExtenderArmsinstalled.

Strap It: Install the Ratchet Strap Mount
NOTE:Thefollowingstepsaredoneforinitialinstallation.Onceinstalledthefirsttime,
theentirestrappedassemblycanbetakenoffandreinstalledquicklyandeasily.
Getting Familiar with the Angle Brace and
Extender Arms

ThisAngleBraceandExtensionarmsworktogetherwiththeKevlarratchetbuckle
systemtocreateastableandstrongmountingpointfortheGenTentonyourinverter
generator.Pleasefamiliarizeyourselfwiththesecomponents:
‐ Kevlarstrap–thisstrapisblackand1”wide.ItisinstalledthroughtheAngle
Braces.Itisattachedtoaratchetbucklefortighteningtheassemblytoyour
invertercase.
‐ AngleBrace–thiscomponentisheldtothefourcornersofyourcase,and
createsamountingandadjustmentpointfortheExtenderArms.
‐
FootGrommet–yourpackagewillcontain16totalgrommets,onebagof8
witha5/8”outsidediameter(thesmallgrommet)andonebagof8witha1”
outsidediameter(thelargegrommet).Thesegrommetsarepressedontothe
fourpinsoftheAngleBracetocreatemounting“feet”.Thefeetgripthecase
withoutmarringthesurface.Differentsizesareusedtoprovideforoptimalfit
oncaseswithdifferentcurvature.
‐
ExtenderArm–thiscomponentsnapsintoplaceontheAngleBraceaswellas
intootherExtenderArms.Amaximumof3ExtenderArmspercornerwillbe
usedduringsetupandoperation.

Step 1: Determine the first Angle Brace Location
TodeterminethelocationofthefirstAngleBrace(whoseheightisthenreplicatedon
theothercorners)followthisprocedure:
1. PlacetheAngleBraceonacorneradjacenttotheelectricalpanel.Locatethe
AngleBracesothatitisslightlyundertheelectricalpanel.
2. Translatethisheighttothelocationoftheexhaustpipeontheinverter.Ifthe
AngleBraceisatthesameheightastheexhaustpipe,lowertheAngleBrace
sothatitisbelowtheexhaustpipe.ThisisnecessarytopreventtheKevlar
strapfromblockingtheexhaustpipe.
WARNING:NevermounttheKevlarstrapsothatitblocks,orisindirect
lineof,theexhaust.TheKevlarwillwithstandtheheat,however,blocking
theexhaustcandamagetheinvertergenerator.
3. MeasurethisheightfromthegrounduptothebottomoftheAngleBrace.
ThisprovidestheinitiallocationoftheAngleBracesonallfourcorners.
NOTE:SomeInverterspositiontheexhaustabovetheheightofthe
electricalpanel.Inthiscase,itisoktohavetheAngleBracesatdifferent
heightsontheexhaustsideascomparedtotheelectricalpanelside.The
resultwillbeaslopedGenTentcanopy,butperformanceisnotaffected.
Step 2: Install the Foot Grommets
Thefootgrommetsprovidethebasiclevelingofthemountassemblyontheinverter
generator.Followthisproceduretodeterminewhethertousesamesizedgrommetson
eachAngleBrace,smallgrommetsontop/largeonbottom,orlargeontop/smallon
bottom.
ObservethecornercurvatureofyourcasewheretheAngleBraceswillbeinstalled.It
willeitherberelativelyvertical,orwillhaveapositiveslopeornegativeslope(please
seediagrambelow):

smallgrommetsonthebottomlegsasshownhere:
Onceinstallationofthegrommetsiscomplete,testfitanAngleBraceontothelocation
wheretheywillbeinstalled.Foranycasethatisnotvertical,theAngleBraceshouldbe
morehorizontalthanthetestfitpriortoinstallingthegrommets.
Step 3: Thread the Kevlar Strap
TheobjectiveforthisstepistothreadtheKevlarStrapthrougheachofthefourAngle
Braceswithouttwistingtheorientationofthestrap.Theratchetbucklehasa
ratchetinghandlethatisusedtotightenthestrapthatisfedthroughthecenterslot.

Selectalongsideoftheinvertercasetopositiontheratchetbuckle.Thiswillprovide
maximumleverageandstabilityduringthetighteningoperation.
‐ LaytheBuckleonitssideparalleltotheinvertercase
‐ Beginningwherethestrapissewntothetopofthebuckle,slideyourfingers
acrossthetopofthestrapuntilyoureachtheedge.Thestrapisnoworiented
properlyforthreading(andyouwillavoidtwistingthestrap).
‐ SelecttheAngleBracethatwillbemountedonthefirstcorner
o OrienttheAngleBraceasitwillbeinstalledsothatthegrommet
feetareinthecorrectposition
IMPORTANT:ThreadtheendofthestrapthroughtheAngleBracesothat
thestrapgoesbehindthecentersectionoftheAngleBraceandlaysflat
againstthecornerguidesasshownbelow.
NOTE:Duringfinaladjusting,besuretopositionthestrapbehindthe
fourguidepinsattheleftandrightedgesoftheAngleBrace
o Repeatthisoperationforeachofthethreeremainingsubsequent
corners.

Step 4: Strap the Assembly to the Inverter Case

2.Pullstrapthrough,removingtheslack(figure3below)
3.Tightenthestrapbyratcheting(openingandclosingthehandle)(figure4below)
HOWTOLOOSENTHERATCHETBUCKLE
‐ Youmayfindthattheassemblyneedstobeadjustedbutthatthestrapistoo
tight.Theratchetbucklecanbeloosenedeasily.
‐ TheRatchetBucklehasabrasscolored,springloadedreleaseonthe
ratchetingarm.Pullthereleaseandfullyopentheratchetarm.
‐ Letgoofthereleaseandclosetheratchetarmabouthalfway.Thestrapwill
loosenbyonetooth.Repeatasnecessarysothatadjustmentscanbemade.

Referencingthebasicinstructionsabove,pulltheKevlarstrapthroughuntilthereislittle
slackleftinthestrap.
Whileholdingthestraptaut,slidetheAngleBracesontotheInverterCase.
Whilecontinuingtoholdtheendstraptaut,cranktheratchetafewtimesuntilthe
assemblyistightenoughthatisstaysonthecase.TheAngleBracescannowbe
adjusted.

MakethefinaladjustmentbyputtingtheAngleBracesintheirpredeterminedlocation.
MakesurethattheKevlarstrapissittingproperlyintheAngleBrace.Thestrapmust
layflatbehindtheguidepinsasshownbelow:
Whiletighteningthestrap,watchtheAngleBracesectionstobesuretheyarenot
pulledoutofposition.Ifanybegintomovethenslideitbackintopositionbefore
tighteningfurther.Theassemblyisproperlytightwhenthegrommetsshowdistinct
flatteningasshownbelow.

Step 5: Connect the Extender Arms
ProperlyinstalledExtenderArmswillmakearectanglearoundtheinverterthatis
approximately36”by24”forGenTent10k(and42”by29”forGenTent20k)when
viewedfromabovetheInvertergenerator.SeeFigure14.Actualmeasurements
canbewithinabouttwoinchesofthesedimensionswithoutaffectingfitand
performanceoftheGenTent.
ThefirstExtenderArmforeachcornersnapsintotheAngleBrace.AdditionalExtender
Armscanthenbesnappedinplaceasneededtogetthefull‐lengthextenderarm
required.InstallationbeginsattheAngleBracesconnectedtotheexhaustside.Once
thesearesetinplaceandadjustedtoensureexhaustgasseswillbedispelledandnot
collectedinsidethecanopy,simplemeasurementscantakeplacetosettheremaining
ExtenderArms.

Disassembling the Strap Mounting Parts
REMOVINGEXTENDERARMS
‐ ExtenderArmsareeasilyremovedfordisassembly.Thisprocedurerequiresa
smallflatbladescrewdriverorsimilar.
‐ Puttheflatbladeintheremovalslotonthetoporbottomprongofthe
ExtenderArmthatistoberemoved.
‐ Twistthebladetowardthetipoftheprong(towardtheExtenderArmor
AngleBracefromwhichthispartisbeingremoved)
o Thistwistingmotiondisengagesonepivotpin
‐ Whiletwistingtheblade,eitherpushdownontheExtenderArm(iftheblade
isinthetopprong),orliftontheExtenderArm(ifthebladeisinthelower
prong).
o TheExtenderArmwillslideoutandfree.
REMOVINGSTRAPMOUNTINGASSEMBLYFROMTHEINVERTERGENERATOR
‐ TheRatchetBucklehasabrasscolored,springloadedreleaseonthe
ratchetingarm.Pullandholdthisreleaseandopentheratchetarmtoitsfully
openandflat.
‐ Toloosenthestrapandadjust
o Letgoofthereleaseandclosetheratchetarmabouthalfway.The
strapshouldloosenslightly.Repeatasnecessarysothat
adjustmentscanbemade.
‐ Tocompletelyremovethestrap:
o ThefixedsideoftheRatchetBucklealsohasaspring‐loadedrelease.
PullandholdthisreleaseandtheKevlarstrapcanbepulledallthe
wayout.
