FAQ GMSela How to Connect Serial Console with uCon
1. Introduction
This procedure describes how to connect the serial console of a GMSela to a computer.
2. Required Tools
Mini USB cable (Type-A plug to Mini-B plug)
Windows Computer with installed terminal software, recommended is uCon (http://www.umonfw.com/ucon/)
Any other serial port terminal software may work as well
3. Connect GMSela
Connect the Mini USB cable to the CONSOLE connetor of your GMSela

4. Find COM port in Windows
Turn on your GMSela
In Windows under Device Manager-> Ports (COM & LPT), your GMSela appears as USB Serial Port
Remember the COM port of the USB Serial Port
5. Connect with uCon
Start uCon terminal software
Choose the COM port of your USB Serial Port
Choose baud rate 115.2K from the dropdown
Press [OK] to connect

6. Navigating the console
If the startup process of the instrument is finished, you can press [ENTER] key on your keyboard
The main menu will appear
Each menu point has a letter assigned
Press the key of the menu you want to select (e.g. [C] to enter the configuration menu, press [C] again to edit current
configuration)
Always confirm your selection pressing [ENTER]
At the bottom of each sub-menu, further navigation options are listed

7. Save and apply configuration changes
Press [Esc] to exit the configuration menu
Press [C] to save the configuration as "current"
In the main menu, press [R] to restart the instrument
After the restart, the configuration changes are applied
