Product liability
In accordance with the liability of the manufacturer for their products as dened in the German "Product Liability
Act", the information contained in this brochure (product information and proper use, misuse, product perfor-
mance, product maintenance, obligations to provide information and instructions) is to be observed. Failure to
comply releases the manufacturer from their statutory liability. GEZE shall not be liable if devices from other
manufacturers are used with GEZE equipment.
1 Safety instructions
1.1 General Information
The specications in this description always refer to the factory standard conguration. Changes in the software
conguration of the control unit may only be carried out by qualied personnel trained by GEZE. A warranty claim
against the manufacturer or distributor of the control unit does not exist for damage that is due to interventions
in the control unit which are not authorised by the manufacturer or its distributor.
The specications in this description have to be observed when connecting components. Planning and calcula-
tion of the power network is to be done by an installer and has to be carried out in accordance with the statutory
regulations (in Germany for example in accordance with MLAR).
XBefore the system is approved for operation carry out and log an insulation measurement of the supply net-
work of the system.
XIf support is required for planning and erecting the system, contact GEZE.

Safety instructions
These instructions must be followed in order to ensure the safety of persons.
XEliminate all the faults in the system immediately.
XAlways keep the mounting instructions at hand near the central unit (e.g. in a plastic envelope directly at the
front door of the emergency power supply unit).
Duties of the owner-operator
XSecure workplace against unauthorised entry.
XEnsure that mounting, commissioning and maintenance are only carried out by qualied personnel authorised
by GEZE. If unauthorised changes are made to the system, GEZE cannot be made liable in any way whatsoever
for any resulting damages.
XEnsure that the keys for the control cabinet and the RWA switch are only available for instructed personnel.
Electrical system
XBefore working on the electrical system, interrupt the power supply (mains and battery) and verify the safe
isolation from supply.
XEnsure that the connection to the power supply is only carried out by a qualied electrician. The power con-
nection and safety earth conductor test must be carried out in accordance DIN VDE 0100-600
XUse a customer-accessible double pole overload cut-out as the line-side disconnecting device in accordance
with the permissible current carrying capacity of the cable.
After the system housing has been opened, live parts are exposed. The system has to be disconnected from the
supply and battery voltage before every intervention in the central unit. The connecting terminals for system
components in parts have a low voltage of ≤50 V.
XDo not the activate the mains and battery voltage until all system components have been connected.
XWhen replacing the batteries use only batteries approved by GEZE.
XEnsure that the control unit cannot be opened by unauthorised persons.
XUse only cables prescribed in the cable plan provided. Lay shields in accordance with the wiring diagram.
XSpecify cable types (e.g. re protection cables) and required degree of protection in agreement with the local
inspection authority.
XAlways use insulated wire-end ferrules for wire cores.
XInsulate the cores that are not used.
XSecure loose cables with cable ties.
After-sales service maintenance
A safety-related test with maintenance has to be carried out by a GEZE-authorised specialist as required – at least
once a year. You are given written proof of the test. All the batteries have to be replaced at the latest after 4 years.
Spare parts
GEZE does not accept any warranty if products from other manufacturers are used with GEZE equipment.
XUse only original GEZE parts for repair and maintenance work.
Regulations and standards
Warranty claims require mounting, installation and maintenance in accordance with the manufacturer's speci-
cations by a specialist company. Observance of all the relevant statutory regulations and instruction in correct
operation lie in the responsibility of the owner-operator or the installer commissioned by the owner-operator
respectively.
XMaintain the system in accordance with the statutory regulations.
XObserve the maintenance specications.
XObserve the latest versions of directives, standards and country-specic regulations, in particular:

1.2 Behaviour in the event of a re
WARNING!
Danger of fatal injury in case of malfunctions during a re since the rescue routes can ll with smoke!
The system has to function free of faults.
XEliminate all the faults immediately.
XIf the yellow fault display of the RWA switch lights up, inform those responsible immediately.
The emergency functions of the RWA emergency power supply unit are triggered by the RWA switch in case of a
re.
In order to reset a re alarm the RWA emergency power supply unit may only be opened by an instructed opera-
tor. The safety instructions and re protection regulations in particular must be observed.
1.3 Intended use
With the emergency power supply unit rooms are ventilated and in case of a re smoke extracted automatically.
The MBZ300 emergency power supply unit fullls sound engineering practice and conforms to the applicable
safety regulations. The system is designed solely for use in dry rooms.
2 Functions and properties
The RWA emergency power supply unit is the central control unit to which all components are connected. The
RWA emergency power supply unit controls the behaviour of the components, supplies them with power and
bridges power outages.
The RWA emergency power control unit controls the smoke and heat extraction (RWA) of stairwells, factory build-
ings etc. Windows and smoke extraction openings can be controlled for normal ventilation operation. In the case
of a re alarm the windows and smoke extraction openings are opened or closed automatically, depending on
the conguration of the RWA emergency power supply unit.

All the units are located in a lockable surface-mounted housing made of painted sheet steel (RAL 7035) with
locking insert (two-way key bit, 3 mm) in enclosure rating IP 30. The housing dimensions depend on the version
and equipment of the central unit.
2.3 GEZE MBZ300 modular principle
Hardware conguration
àThe modules can be mounted on a standard top-hat rail (TS 35). After correct connection the module is recog-
nised immediately and integrated automatically into the system via the BUS. Faults and errors during connec-
tion are indicated through rapid ashing of the status displays or through the fault display (see chapter5.1.5).
Software conguration
àFire compartments and ventilator groups can be congured variedly thanks to the modular system.
àThanks to the possibilities of the software conguration and the extensive eld of application of the modules,
special installations in the central unit are hardly necessary for special applications.

Mounting sequence (overview)
XBefore starting work check the completeness and correctness of the delivery using the delivery note (central
unit size, batteries, modules, etc.). Later complaints can no longer be recognised.
XCheck the conguration of the equipment of the RWA emergency power supply unit and adapt/extend if
necessary.
XFasten the housing securely and keep easily accessible for maintenance.
XMount the drives and control elements (observe the permissible connection values and specications of the
respective mounting instructions).
XIntroduce the lines through the cable glands in the central unit.
XConnect external components.

Minimum and maximum equipment

with 24 A each). If more performance is required, several units can be congured via the software as a com-

3.1.1 Determining the correct equipment of the central unit
Switching power supply units and power modules
The number of required switching power supply units and of the required power module extensions PME results
from the maximum drive current. The power module PMis always required. One PME each is required for every
further switching power supply unit.
