Initial setup
Procedure:
¤Connect the PBX to the mains Connect the computer.
¤Go through the basic configuration with the Setup assistant, including configuring the net-
work settings and the outside line.
¤Set up the PBX in its intended place of use or install it in a 19-inch rack.
¤Establish connections with the local network and, if applicable, with the telephone network
(VoIP, ISDN, FXO).
¤Connect phones.

Before setting up your device, read the safety precautions and the notes on
installation location in the manufacturers‘ notes.
Only use the supplied power cable.

Initial setup
Basic configuration
The PBX is now ready for operation and needs to be adjusted to the local network infrastructure
of the company. For the settings, use the Web interface of the PBX. When you first log on to the
user interface, a Setup wizard will start automatically. This guides you step by step through the
main settings.
Default settings:

¤Start your Web browser Enter the IP address of the PBX in the address field: 192.168.0.50
. . . the login window opens
¤Log on as adminstrator: Enter the login name (admin) and PIN (0000).
Pay attention to upper/lower case . . . The Web user interface of the PBX opens
¤Set the language for the assistant. Next
¤The next page is for importing a backup. Skip this page with Next
¤Choose your country Next . . . the country-specific settings are loaded, e.g. dialling tones,
ISDN and FXS/FXO parameters
¤Change the PIN for the administrator ID admin Next
You can now close the Setup wizard and enter the other settings later via the Administration
menu of the user interface.
Now close the assistant with: Finish installation and reboot . . . the PBX is rebooted.
You can now log on under the admin user ID with the newly assigned PIN and perform the con-
figuration.

The configuration is done via a Web browser on the computer you have connected to
the PBX.
The network configuration of the computer must be set to obtain the Internet
address automatically.
However, it is recommended that you complete the whole wizard if you want to inte-
grate the PBX into the local network and successfully set up an outside line.

Adjusting the network configuration
¤Enter the IP address of the PBX in the local network. The PBX requires a fixed IP address. This
may have to be taken into account when configuring the DHCP server in the network.
¤Adjust the settings for the subnet mask, standard gateway (DHCP server) and DNS server to
the network.
Disabling the DHCP server
The PBX is equipped with an integrated DHCP server, which is already enabled on delivery. If
another DHCP server is active in the network, the one on the PBX must be disabled.
¤Disable the DHCP server with the Enable internal DHCP server switch.
Configuring the e-mail server
For e-mail communication, the e-mail server must be set up.
¤Enable e-mail communication with the Enable Email delivery switch and enter the data for
the SMTP server.
¤Or skip this step with Next if you want to configure the e-mail later.
Configuring an outside line
Configure an outside line. The PBX supports SIP, ISDN and analogue connections (T640 only).
The access data is available from your telephone provider.
¤In the list next to Outside line, select the type of the outside line (SIP, ISDN or FXO) and enter
the data for the connection.
The configured connection is entered in the configuration as a SIP or TDM gateway. A gateway
group is automatically set up for the connection. All incoming and outgoing connections are
routed via this gateway group.
You can use the Administrator menu to set up further gateways and gateway groups and to
adjust the routing to the needs of your company.
Entering users
¤Enter three users with their First name, Last name and Extension.
You create the users with the user IDs demo101, demo102, demo103 and the PIN 0000.
Closing the Setup wizard
On the last page of the wizard you can check your settings again.
Detailed information on the settings is provided in the Administrator Guide.
To change settings: ¤Select the tab Adjust the settings as you wish Click through the
wizard again to the end
Confirm your settings: ¤Submit settings . . . the PBX is rebooted
Depending on the network settings made, you might no longer have access to the
user interface from the computer. If necessary, re-establish the connection with a
new IP address.

Installing in a server rack

Installing without a server rack
If you are not installing the PBX in a server rack:
¤Attach the supplied self-adhesive rubber nubs to the underside of the chassis to position the
device securely on a desktop.
Attaching the earthing cable

both sides of the device chassis
using the supplied screws.
¤Place the device on a pre-installed
shelf in the rack.
¤Attach the ends of the brackets to
the vertical tracks of the rack frame
using standard 19-inch rack bolts

Connecting to the local network (LAN)
Connecting IP phones
The LAN ports support PoE (Power over Ethernet) in compliance with the IEEE 802.3af-2003
standard, i.e. they supply power via the Ethernet cable if the connected device is PoE-capable
(e.g. a Gigaset IP phone).
To get the PBX up and running, you need to activate the licence.
To do this, log in to the Gigaset portal for sales partners, open the section for T440/
T640 PRO and activate the license there, or activate the phone system directly using
the license file provided.

¤Connect the LAN port (GE or FE) to a
Gigabit Ethernet or Fast Ethernet net-
work, e.g. to the port of a switch.
To ensure that the PBX is recognised in the local network, you may need to adjust the
network configuration to the local infrastructure, i.e. the IP address must be in the
same subnet ( p. 4).

Startup
Activating the phones
After the initial configuration, you must enter the PBX users, set up extensions and assign them
to the phones. This is done via the Administration menu of the user interface.
¤Start the Web browser Enter the IP address of the PBX in the address field Log on as
administrator.
The PBX automatically detects the following Gigaset phones connected to it or to the network:

Vorgehen:
¤Telefonanlage mit Stromnetz verbinden Computer anschließen.
¤Grundkonfiguration mit Installationsassistenten vornehmen: u. a. Netzwerkeinstellungen

¤Telefonanlage am Einsatzort aufstellen oder in 19-Zoll-Rack einbauen.
¤Verbindungen mit lokalem Netzwerk und ggf. mit Telefonnetz (VoIP, ISDN, FXO) herstellen.

Grundkonfiguration
Die Telefonanlage ist nun betriebsbereit und muss an die lokale Netzinfrastruktur des Unterneh-
mens angepasst werden. Für die Einstellungen verwenden Sie die Web-Oberfläche der Telefon-
anlage. Bei der ersten Anmeldung an der Bedienoberfläche startet automatisch ein Installations-
assistent. Dieser führt Sie Schritt für Schritt durch wichtige Einstellungen.
Voreinstellungen:

¤Web-Browser starten IP-Adresse der Telefonanlage ins Adressfeld eingeben: 192.168.0.50
. . . das Anmeldefenster wird geöffnet
¤Als Adminstrator anmelden: Anmeldename (admin) und PIN (0000) eingeben.
Groß-/Kleinschreibung beachten . . . Die Web-Bedienoberfläche der Telefonanlage wird
geöffnet
¤Sprache für den Assistenten einstellen Weiter
¤Es folgt eine Seite, über die Sie eine Sicherung einspielen können. Seite mit Weiter über-

töne, ISDN- und FXS/FXO-Parameter

Assistenten jetzt abbrechen: Installation abschließen und Neustart . . . die Telefonanlage
wird neu gestartet.
Sie können sich jetzt unter der Benutzerkennung admin mit der neu vergebenen PIN anmelden
und die Konfiguration durchführen.
Weitere Einstellungen
Netzwerkkonfiguration anpassen
¤IP-Adresse der Telefonanlage im lokalen Netzwerk eingeben. Die Telefonanlage benötigt
eine feste IP-Adresse. Dies muss ggf. in der Konfiguration des DHCP-Servers im Netzwerk
berücksichtigt werden.
¤Einstellungen für die Subnetzmaske, den Standardgateway (DHCP-Server) und die DNS- Ser-
ver an das Netzwerk anpassen.
DHCP-Server ausschalten
Die Telefonanlage ist mit einem integrierten DHCP-Server ausgestattet, der bei Auslieferung
aktiviert ist. Wenn ein anderer DHCP-Server im Netzwerk aktiv ist, muss der DHCP-Server der
Telefonanlage ausgeschaltet werden.
¤DHCP-Server mit Schalter Internen DHCP-Server einschalten ausschalten.
E-Mail-Server konfigurieren
Zur Übertragung von E-Mails muss der E-Mail-Server eingerichtet werden.
¤E-Mail-Übertragung mit Schalter E-Mail-Versand einschalten einschalten und die Daten für
den SMTP-Server eingeben.
¤Oder Schritt mit Weiter überspringen, um die E-Mail-Konfiguration später vorzunehmen.
Amtsanschluss konfigurieren
Konfigurieren Sie einen Amtsanschluss. Die Telefonanlage unterstützt SIP, ISDN und analoge
Anschlüsse (nur T640). Die Zugangsdaten erhalten Sie vom Telefon-Provider.
¤Aus der Liste neben Externe Leitung die Art des Amtsanschlusses auswählen (SIP, ISDN oder
FXO) und die Daten für den Anschluss eingeben.
Der konfigurierten Anschluss wird als SIP- oder TDM-Gateway in die Konfiguration eingetragen.
Es wird automatisch eine Gateway-Gruppe für den Anschluss eingerichtet. Alle eingehenden
und ausgehenden Verbindungen werden über diese Gateway-Gruppe geroutet.
Sie können über das Administrator-Menü weitere Gateways und Gateway-Gruppen einrichten
und das Routing an die Erfordernisse des Unternehmens anpassen.
Um die Telefonanlage in das lokale Netzwerk einzubinden und eine Amtsleitung
erfolgreich in Betrieb zu nehmen, wird jedoch empfohlen, den Assistenten vollstän-
dig durchzuführen.

¤Drei Benutzer mit Vorname, Nachname und Nebenstelle für die Benutzer eingeben.
Die Benutzer werden mit den Benutzerkennungen demo101, demo102, demo103 und der
PIN 0000 angelegt.

Auf der letzten Seite des Assistenten können Sie die Einstellungen noch einmal prüfen.
Aufstellen
Einbau in einen Serverschrank
Montagebreite: 19 Zoll, Höhe: 1 HE.
Aufstellen ohne Serverschrank
Wenn Sie die Telefonanlage nicht in einen Serverschrank einbauen:
¤Mitgelieferte selbstklebende Gumminoppen an der Unterseite des Gehäuses anbringen, um
das Gerät rutschsicher aufzustellen.
Einstellungen ändern: ¤Register auswählen Einstellungen wie gewünscht
anpassen Assistenten noch einmal bis zum Ende durchführen
Einstellungen bestätigen: ¤Einstellungen speichern . . . die Telefonanlage wird neu gestar-
tet
Abhängig von den vorgenommenen Netzwerkeinstellungen haben Sie jetzt keinen
Zugang mehr vom Computer auf die Bedienoberfläche. Ggf. Verbindung mit neuer
IP-Adresse wieder herstellen.
¤Montageadapter an beiden Seiten
des Gehäuses anbringen . Verwen-
den Sie dazu die mitgelieferten
Schrauben.
¤Gerät in einem vorinstallierten Regal
im Serverschrank plazieren.
¤Enden der Montageadapter an
den vertikalen Trägern des Server-
schrankrahmens festschrauben. Ver-
wenden Sie dazu Standardschrauben

Um die Telefonanlage in Betrieb zu nehmen, müssen Sie die Lizenz aktivieren.
Melden Sie sich dazu am Gigaset-Portal für Vertriebspartner an, öffnen Sie den
Bereich für T440/T640 PRO und nehmen Sie dort die Lizenzaktivierung vor oder akti-
vieren Sie die Telefonanlage direkt mittels der zur Verfügung gestellten Lizenzdatei.

Subnetz liegen ( S. 11).

Die LAN-Anschlüsse unterstützen PoE (Power over Ethernet) entsprechend des IEEE 802.3af-
2003 Standards, d. h. sie liefern Strom über das Ethernet-Kabel, wenn das angeschlossene Gerät
PoE-fähig ist (z. B. ein Gigaset IP-Telefon).
Telefone in Betrieb nehmen
Im Anschluss an die Erstkonfiguration müssen die Benutzer der Telefonanlage eingetragen,
Nebenstellen eingerichtet und den Telefonen zugewiesen werden. Sie verwenden dazu das
Administrator-Menü der Bedienoberfläche.
¤Web-Browser starten IP-Adresse der Telefonanlage ins Adressfeld eingeben als Admi-
nistrator anmelden
Die Telefonanlage erkennt automatisch folgende an der Telefonanlage oder im Netzwerk ange-
schlossenen Gigaset-Telefone:

Procédure :
¤Brancher l'autocommutateur privé sur le secteur Brancher l'ordinateur.
¤Effectuer la configuration de base avec l'assistant d'installation : configurer notamment les
réglages réseau et le raccordement réseau.
¤Installer l'autocommutateur privé sur le lieu d'utilisation ou le monter dans un rack 19 pouces.
¤Etablir les connexions avec le réseau local ou avec le réseau téléphonique (VoIP, ISDN, FXO)
le cas échéant.
¤Brancher les téléphones.

est raccordé au secteur. Le voyant
POWER s'allume sur la face avant.

Raccordement de l'ordinateur
Configuration de base
L'autocommutateur privé est maintenant prêt à fonctionner et doit être adapté à l'infrastructure
réseau locale de l'entreprise. Pour les réglages, utiliser l'interface Web de l'autocommutateur
privé. Lors de la première connexion à l'interface utilisateur, un assistant d'installation démarre
automatiquement. Ce dernier accompagne l'utilisateur étape par étape dans les principaux
réglages.
Réglages par défaut :
Démarrage de l'assistant d'installation
¤Démarrer le navigateur Entrer l'adresse IP de l'autocommutateur privé dans le champ
d'adresse : 192.168.0.50 . . . la fenêtre de connexion s'ouvre
¤Se connecter comme administrateur : Saisir le nom de connexion (admin) et le PIN (0000).
Respecter les majuscules/minuscules . . . L'interface utilisateur Web de l'autocommutateur
privé s'ouvre.
¤Régler la langue pour l'assistant Suivant
¤Une page permettant de rétablir une sauvegarde s'ouvre. Passer la page avec Suivant
¤Sélectionner le pays Suivant . . . Les réglages spécifiques au pays sont chargés, par
exemple les tonalités, les paramètres ISDN et FXS/FXO
¤Modifier le PIN pour l'identifiant administrateur admin Suivant

La configuration est réalisée via un navigateur Web sur l'ordinateur, raccordé à l'auto-
commutateur privé.
La configuration réseau de l'ordinateur doit être réglée pour l'acquisition automa-
tique d'une adresse internet.
