LIMITED WARRANTY
• Subject to the term and condition of thi Limited Warranty a herein tated, all Gile Enterpri e , Inc.,
Food ervice Equipment and part purcha ed new from an authorized Gile Enterpri e , Inc., repre entative
are warranted a to defect in material or workman hip for a period of 24 month from the date of in talla-
tion, provided, however, that with regard to labor co t in connection with thi warranty, ee below. All in tal-
lation mu t be made by a qualified in talling agency in accordance with all applicable code and/or regula-
tion in the juri diction in which in talled. Limited warranty coverage i extended to the original owner only
and i void if the unit i re old.
• During the Limited Warranty period, Gile Enterpri e , Inc. will replace or recondition, at it factory, any part
or part of thi unit which Gile Enterpri e , Inc. in pector judge defective, provided the unit ha been ub-
jected to normal u age, properly in talled, operated and erviced. Thi Limited Warranty doe not cover co -
metic damage, and damage due to act of God, accident, mi u e, alteration, negligence, abu e of the Gile
Food ervice Equipment or the u e of unorthodox repair method . All part replaced under thi Limited
Warranty carry only the unexpired term of thi Limited Warranty. Limited Warranty ervice may be furni hed
only by an authorized Gile Enterpri e , Inc., repre entative.
• If Limited Warranty ervice i reque ted, Gile Enterpri e , Inc., will end factory-authorized ervice repre-
entative to repair, recondition, replace or in pect unit of it manufacture with uch labor being rendered
without co t to owner for twenty-four (24) month from the date of in tallation. Otherwi e, ervice, includ-
ing labor and tran portation charge or other expen e , in connection with the removal or in tallation of any
part or part upplied under thi Limited Warranty, are pecified on the original ale contract between the
purcha er and the authorized Gile Enterpri e , Inc., repre entative.
•Failure to use Giles OEM repalcement parts and OEM replacement filters may void this Limited Warranty.
• Gile Enterpri e , Inc. re erve the right to change or improve it equipment and part in any way without
obligation to alter uch equipment or part previou ly manufactured.
• Gile Enterpri e , Inc. make no further warrantie , expre or implied including implied warrantie of mer-
chantability or fitne for a particular purpo e, and ha no other obligation or liability not pecifically tated
herein.
• Repair or replacement a provided under thi limited warranty i the exclu ive remedy. Gile Enterpri e , Inc.,
hall not be liable for any incidental or con equential damage for breach of any expre or implied warran-
ty on thi product, except to the extent prohibited by applicable law. Any implied warranty of merchantabil-
ity or fitne for a particular purpo e on thi product i limited in duration to the duration of thi limited war-
ranty.

• C nsult a qualified electrician t ensure that:
a. Installation is in com liance with all electrical s ecifications and local building codes.
b. Circuit breakers and wiring are of sufficient rating and gauge for su lying ower to this equi ment.
c. Unit is ro erly grounded during installation. Im ro er grounding may result in electrical shock to the user.
• Impr per installati n, adjustments, alterati ns, service, r maintenance c uld result in seri us injury, even death;

•DO NOT use r st re flammable liquids, r materials pr ducing flammable vap rs, in the vicinity f this r any

• Ensure the unit is p siti ned in a safe l cati n, and that the leveling legs have been pr perly adjusted s that the
unit is level and stable.
• The unit must remain in the upright (vertical) p siti n.
• Exercise care when rem ving the w d crating and m ving the unit fr m the shipping skid. The unit is very
heavy (stand m unted units will be extremely t p-heavy). Use appr priate handling equipment and/ r sufficient
manp wer t lift and m ve the unit.
•DO NOT perate the unit unless y u fully understand the c mp nents and their intended functi n (see Secti n
3).

• The electr nic c mp nents n the C ntr l Panel are impact-sensitive. Exercise care ar und the C ntr l Panel t
av id damage and maintain pr per perati n.
• When cleaning the unit DO NOT:
a. Steam clean.
b. Use roducts containing chlorine or other caustic chemicals.
c. Use abrasive roducts, steel wool or scouring ads.
•DO NOT alter, add attachments r therwise m dify this equipment!
•DO NOT attempt t dry the EAC cell after cleaning by installing it and running the H d t f rce air dry, r by
running an appliance bel w the H d in attempt t heat dry the cell. This can p tentially damage the EAC
system leading t failure and v iding the warranty. The EAC cell must air dry at ambient r m temperature,
preferably vernight.
• Take care n t t bend the c llecti n fins r break the i nizer wires n the Electr static Air Cleaner (EAC) cell.
D ing s will prevent the system fr m pr perly capturing grease particulate, and cause p wer t the appliance
underneath the H d t be shutd wn.
• Failure t c mply with CAUTION n tices may result in equipment and/ r pr perty damage, and v id the
warranty.
CAUTION
NOTE:
•If the crate is damaged up n receipt, immediately inspect the unit and n tify the freight c mpany f any damage t the
unit.
•T aid the electrician, r technician during installati n r service, an electrical wiring diagram is pr vided with the unit. It
sh uld be attached t the unit’s rear panel.
•C mply with all appr priate state and/ r l cal heath regulati ns regarding the cleaning and sanitati n f equipment.
•Consultation with a rofessional HVAC com any may be required for some installations for ur ose
of confirming ro er room air exchange rate, and to determine the heat load ca abilities of the
existing air conditioning system.
•Exhaust ventilati n is rec mmended f r areas in which recirculating h ds are used. Giles rec mmends 50 CFM per linear
f t f h d space. This am unt c uld vary based n l cal c des and the site-specific installati n requirements.
•The s und level f the H d when perating is appr ximately 73 dB.

by Giles Foodservice Equipme t, Mo tgomery, Alabama (USA), hereafter referred to as "Giles". These two models
are available as either a ceili g hu g, or a sta d mou ted model. The sta d mou ted versio measures 72” from
the floor to the bottom edge o the hood skirt.

2. Installation
2-01. Unpacking
This section summarizes procedures necessary to install the new FSH-5 or FSH-6 Hood. Before installing or servicing
this equipment, please read the contents of this manual thoroughly. Following these procedures will help to ensure
a safe and proper installation.
NOTE:
•A HVAC specia ist may be required for some insta ations to confirm proper air
exchange and the heat oad capabi ities of existing air conditioning systems.
•Exhaust ventilation is recommended for areas in which recirculating hoods are used. Giles recommends 50 CFM
per linear foot of hood space. This amount could vary based on local codes and site-specific installation require-
ments.
The unit is palletized on a wooden shipping s id and protected with a wooden framewor ; secured with high-tensile
plastic strapping and wrapped in machine applied stretch-wrap. Following these steps to unpac .
1. Position the palletized unit in an area that has sufficient space for unpac ing.
2. Cut and remove stretch-wrap and all strapping. Remove all auxiliary items which are pac ed with the unit and
set aside in a safe place.
3. Use appropriate tools to remove the protective wooden framewor from around the unit.
!! IMPORTANT NOTE:
If the palletized unit shows signs of damage, immediately inspect the equipment and other pac aged compo-
nents, and notify the freight company of any damages.
The unit is very heavy and bul y! Use suitable equipment and/or sufficient manpower to lift and move the hood
from the shipping s id ... see Section 1-4.4, Hood Weights.
!CAUTION
4. In many cases, to facilitate ease of movement, it is preferable to leave the unit on the base s id until time to
install it in the desired permanent location. Carefully remove the Hood from the shipping s id using suitable
equipment and/or sufficient manpower, and safe wor practices.
!! IMPORTANT NOTE:
When removing the unit from the s id, ta e precautions not to damage to the bottom edge of hood s irt. If pos-
sible, it is advisable to rig and lift the hood from the topside, utilizing the hood’s hanging brac ets.

Exhaust Air Outlet
1. Do not obstruct the exhaust air outlet. Maintain a minimum clearance of 14 inches (355.6mm)
between the air outlet and ceiling, or any overhead obstructions.
2. Ensure that the intended mounting site is structurally sound and capable of supporting the hood’s weight.
See Section 1-4.4, Hood Weights.
DO NOT ALTER, ADD ATTACHMENTS, OR OTHERWISE MODIFY THE EQUIPMENT.
!CAUTION
NOTE:

•The sound level of the hood when operating is approximately 73 dB.
1. Ensure the hood is level, left to right and front to bac . Use 1/2” All-thread to
hang Hood and install fasteners as shown above.
2. Ensure all mounting fasteners are tight and secure. To perform properly, the
ceiling mounted Hood must have Bac splash and Side S irts installed, see
Section 2-3.2. Hood Skirt Insta ation.

Hood S irts MUST be installed on ceiling mount Hoods to ensure proper capture performance.
1. Pee a protective fi m from parts before assemb ing.
2. Apply a bead of Hi-Temp Silicone (included) to the top flanges of both Side S irts.
3. Attach Left and Right Side S irts to hood with enclosed fasteners (do not tighten completely).
4. Apply a bead of the Hi-Temp Silicone to the top flange of the Rear Bac splash S irt.
5. Attach Rear S irt to hood with enclosed fasteners (do not tighten completely) .
6. Fasten Left and Right S irts to Rear S irt.
7. Completely tighten all fasteners and wipe any excess silicone from the assembled S irt.
