dSCR GTU

The purpose of this guide is to enable the successful installation of
the dSCR GTU as part of a Global Invacom FibreIRS Installation.
This guide assumes that:
•The GTU will be connected to a suitable Global Invacom FibreIRS
Passive Optical Network (PON), providing minimum optical signal
levels of -12.2dBm* at the connection point of the GTU.
•The GTU will be been installed in a dry indoor environment and
mounted vertically with suitable fixings.
•The installation will be carried out by a competent person.
•All ferrule end faces of the FC/PC optical connectors are cleaned
prior to making a connection using a suitable fibre optic cleaning
kit.
•The installer has followed the installation guide for the ODU32 or
optical LNB.
* Based upon launch output of +7dBm
Cable and Connections
•Cables used should be industry approved coaxial cable and should
be terminated using an F type connector.
•Fibre optic cable should be Global Invacom approved single mode
with FC/PC connections.

Technical Supplement
Introduction
•
When pulling pre-terminated fibre cables please ensure the connector
is well protected, and that no force is applied to the end connector.

aligned with tags on unit.
Once aligned, push on fully and click cover downwards
To remove cover reverse the procedure

•All fibre connectors should be cleaned prior to any connections
being made.
•When connecting the fibre cable, align the key-way on the
connector with the key-way on the fibre receptacle. Failure to do
so will result in attenuation.
LED
•The green LED will flash if no RF power is detected or if there
is no optical power.
•The green LED will be constantly lit if RF power is detected.

Operation
•The unit must only be powered by the external power supply
provided.
•Before powering on for the first time please ensure all cables are
connected.
•On initial start up the unit may take a few seconds to calibrate,
please allow 10 seconds before performing any measurements.
•Check levels/quality for both satellite and terrestrial using an
appropriate meter.
•Once level/signal quality has been confirmed. The GTU should
be connected to either a wall faceplate or direct to the receiving
device.
Important –
•During operation the units may
become hot. This is normal, but the
installer is advised, where possible,
to avoid locations where high
ambient temperatures are expected.
•If there are any changes made to the
optical network all GTU units
connected should be power cycled to
ensure correct operation.
•Please ensure optical fibre is
connected on first boot up as the
GTU configures important features at
this time.
•The cover must be fitted during
normal operation.
