Thank you for having purchased a GOLDENOTE® product.
Introduction
The Goldenote® line of amplifiers
features unique and innovative technical
and aesthetic characteristics.
The S1 is a single ended Dual-Mono
solid state stereo integrated amplifier
that uses a proprietary Goldenote
electronic design called Mirror-Amp™
and a design couple the three
amplification stages without filtering
them at all.
The Mirror-Amp™ enables the preamplifier section to work as a sort super class A amplifier. It is
a the gain stage made with a proprietary cascode differential design with a current enable a
super-linear signal, thus virtually eliminating distortion.
The power supply is driven by three different custom IE transformers. Two transformers are
dedicated to the audio signal, the third one powers all the functions that could adversary affect
the sound of the amplifier, including the motorised volume control, the relays, the LED lights as
much as all the service powered stages.
To achieve best sonic performance the S1 does not have active or passive filters on the audio
signal path. The amplifier features four passive thermal switches switch off the amplifier power
when it reaches an internal temperature of 80°Celsius (180°Fahrenheit).
The S1 has a wide inductive and resistance acceptance so it can be matched with any kind of
audio cables.
Its chassis is made of Steel to minimize RFI and EMI interferences. Selected components have
strict tolerances.
The S1 can easily handle most of the speakers available on the market. It is also specially design
to drive high efficiency speakers for which the volume control is set up higher than other
amplifiers in its range. For that reason it is absolutely normal to eventually raise up the volume
knob very high over the second half of its rotation ability.

Positioning of the S1 Integrated Amplifier
The S1 integrated amplifier has been designed for home Hi-Fi systems. It ought therefore to be protected from any
eventual variations in temperature and humidity. Avoid using in the vicinity of radiators or other strong heating sources,
electrical and electronic motors, mobile phones etc.
The location in proximity of other audio components is not theoretically critical, but you should nevertheless pay attention
to this. If it should have to be moved after the installation, certain readjustments may need to be made again. In any case,
take care to switch OFF and detach the AC power chord from the AC wall plug the S1 integrated amplifier every time you
need to move it.
Operating Conditions
Once it has been correctly mounted and wired with its AC power Chord, and once the unit is been wired to a line input of
the amplifier with a proper interconnect cable, your S1 integrated amplifier is ready for use.
TO ACHIEVE HIGHEST POSSIBLE QUALITY SOUND PERFORMANCES THE S1 DOES NOT HAVE ANY OUTPUT PROTECTION.
SHORT CIRCUIT AND TOO LOW LOAD SPEAKERS (BELOW THAN 4 OHMS) THAT COULD IRREMEDIABLY DAMAGE THE
AMPLIFIER IF IMPROPERLY USED.
THE UNIT IS PROVIDED WITH FOUR THERMAL SWITCHES PUT ON BOTH CHANNELS HEAT SINKS AND POWER
TRANSFORMERS. BEFORE THE UNIT REACHES A DANGEROUS TEMPERATURES IT TURNS OFF AUTOMATICALLY UNTIL IT
WILL COLD DOWN TO A REGULAR OPERATING TEMPERATURE LEVEL.
TYPICALLY IF THE UNIT TURNS OFF DURING PLAYING TAKES 30 MINUTES TO COOL DOWN AND SWITCH IT ON AGAIN.
EVENTAULLY TEST THE UNIT WELL BEFORE CALLING ASSISTANCE FOR SERVICE.
NOTE: Never disassemble any part of the product for any reason whatsoever. The S1 integrated amplifier could be
irreparably damaged and the guarantee would be invalidated.

DISC* is the Phono dedicated INPUT. The Board is installed but the functionality is optional. Once installed you can switch MM and MC operating by
moving the small DIP SWITCH with 4 Micro-Switches once the cover is removed.
To select the MM option move the four Micro Switches towards the numbers 1,2,3,4 on the opposite side the set up is working MC.
DO NOT OPEN THE UNIT WITHOUT A WRITTEN PERMISSION OF YOUR LOCAL DISTRIBUTOR OTHERWISE THE WARRANTY
WILL NOT COVER ANY EVETUAL DAMAGE OF THE UNIT FREE OF CHJARGE.

Volume Control
The volume control of this unit is made with an high quality potentiometer made by ALPS. It is so precise that its error
ability to track is very low. Besides it is made with such materials that render its durability far superior than standard
audio potentiometer.
The remote volume control with its proper electronic board and power transformer (to avoid any kind of interferences on
signal path) works directly on a DC motors positioned on the back of the potentiometer to avoid the use of electronic
controllers can reduce sound quality.
The amplifier features the same remote control can handle even the Goldenote CD Players.
Remote Control
•The Volume i controlled by the UP&DOWN arrow keys.
•All the other remote keys are exclusively dedicated to control a Goldenote CD player.
•Eventually read the Goldenote CD Player owner’s manual to learn about the remote control working keys.

Warranty Certificate
The warranty certificate is enclosed separately and to be valid must be completed fill and returned to Goldenote factory or
the official distribution. In all countries where there is an official distribution network, the dealer must stamp the warranty
certificate. In compliance with the laws in force, the dealer may modify the official Goldenote warranty certificate fully or
partially without notice and without further mention being made in this instruction manual.
EVERY SINGLE GOLDENOTE UNIT HAS A WARRANTY ADHESIVE LABEL APPLIED ON THE CHASSIS SHOWS THE
GOLDENOTE LOGO. IF THE LABEL IS DAMAGED IN ANY PART THE WARRANTY WILL NOT COVER FREE OF CHARGE
SERVICE AND/OR RESTORING.
Customer Service
All GOLDENOTE® products are the result of meticulous technological research, and consequently their correct functioning is
guaranteed. In spite of this it is possible that problems may emerge which non-specialist users cannot resolve. In this case,
contact your dealer who will advise you on how to resolve the problem.
Do not return any object directly to the factory or to the national distributor or without being authorized to do so. In such
cases both GOLDENOTE® and the distribution agents operating within your territory decline responsibility of any kind.

WARNING
1. THE S1 DOES NOT HAVE ANY OUTPUT PROTECTION. SHORT CIRCUIT OR WRONG SPEAKERS MATCHING
(BELOW THAN 4ohms) COULD DAMAGE THE AMPLIFIER

amplifier can render shipping dangerous.
