GVC-2200-V Operation & Maintenance Manual
1. Introduction
Goodway’s Vapor-Steam Cleaner (GVC-2200-V) is a self-contained high temperature dry
vapor steam cleaning system designed for a wide variety of commercial and industrial
cleaning applications. It is intended primarily for the removal of dirt, grime, grease, mold,
mildew and bacteria. The combination of high temperature/dry vapor steam action, specially
developed cleanser and professional cleaning tools have proven highly effective and efficient
for most cleaning applications.
Use steam only, or with GVC-500 cleanser -
For most applications, steam alone should be sufficient. Only where the dirt is unusually
heavy and/or compacted, such as with hardened or compacted grease, is usage of our
universal cleanser GVC-500 really necessary.
2. Safety and Warnings
2.1 Authorized operation
IMPORTANT: Authorized operators only, in full accordance with all
recommendations given herein, and with all effective regulations in force.
2.2 Safe operation
Goodway Technologies Corp. products are designed and built to give continued
superior and safe performance, provided:
a. They are commissioned, operated and maintained in accordance with the
recommendations given in this Manual, and
b. Periodic attention is given, as necessary, to maintain the equipment in good
functional order. Recommended maintenance guidelines are provided in Section 8
“Maintenance”.
The function of this equipment is to facilitate safe, effective and efficient cleaning.
Use of the GVC-2200-V in conditions outside of the recommendations provided in this
manual can affect performance and reduce the effective service life, and can present
potential risk to users; under such circumstances no liability for damage or injury can be
accepted by Goodway Technologies Corp..
2.3 Legal scope of this Manual

2.4 Safety Regulations
2.4.1 Usage – The Goodway’s Vapor-Steam Cleaner must be used only for its
designated purpose: a steam generator with cleaning accessories. The
Vacuum must not be used for any other purposes other than those described
in this manual; i.e. it is not designed to pick up general dirt. Goodway
Technologies Corp.. will not be held liable for any damages caused from
improper, incorrect or unreasonable use.
2.4.2 Power Supply - Before connecting GVC-2200-V, check that the data on the
voltage rating plate are the same as the main electrical supply. The rating plate
is found at the rear of the GVC-2200-V. Goodway’s Vapor-Steam Cleaner
MUST BE GROUNDED. Use of a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) for
additional safety is strongly recommended.

GVC-2200-VVAC Page 4 of 16 August 22, 2002

GVC-2200-V Operation & Maintenance Manual
2.4.6 The steam temperature can reach 290°Fat the outlet, so never point the steam
in your direction, at other people or animals, as this presents a real danger of
scalding.
2.4.7 In the event of breakdown or malfunction, switch off the GVC-2200-V and refer
to Section 11 “Fault Diagnosis” and Section 8 “Maintenance” sections.
Contact an authorized service technician for repairs. Any unauthorized
tampering with the GVC-2200-V voids the warranty.
2.4.8 Electrical appliances and fittings (TV, radio, lights, etc.) should never be
cleaned with steam, even when not connected to a power supply.
2.4.9 Where the application of detergent is required, use only our specialized
cleanser GVC-500 in the black top cleanser canister. Likewise, do not put any
other detergents or other chemical substances (especially perfumed) in the
canister, as noxious gases may occur due to the high temperature. GVC-500 is
specially formulated for use in combination with high temperature dry vapor
steam.
2.4.10 The main ‘on/off’ and both pistol-grip switches must be off (‘O’) when
connecting the steam/vacuum hose to the GVC-2200-V.
2.4.11 Ensure that accessories are locked securely onto the pistol-grip, by pulling both
parts against each other. They must be firmly fixed.
2.4.12 Exercise care when accessing internal components. For instance, steam-
associated components (e.g. drain screw) get extremely hot during operation
and cool down very slowly after use.
2.4.13 Do not use on or near heat sensitive materials; this can damage such
materials!
2.4.14 If you are unsure whether the material you want to clean is suitable for steam
cleaning, check first with a trial application on a small unobtrusive piece of the
same material.
2.4.15 Do not use the small round metal brush on polished or scratch-sensitive
materials.
2.4.16 Use only on internal glass surfaces that are heat resistant. Exercise utmost
care when cleaning glass surfaces in low temperatures; gently pre-heat the
glass with steam beforehand to reduce the possibility of damage and injury.
2.4.17 The GVC-2200-V must never be immersed in water. Failure to comply with
this warning will endanger life.
2.4.18 Always store the GVC-2200-V in a safe, dry and frost-free place. Exercise
care when storing directly after use as residual heat remains for some time.
Goodway Technologies Corp.. accepts no liability for loss, injury or damage caused by
improper use.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 First Inspection
a. Remove the GVC-2200-V from its original packing and check for possible
transportation damage (in which case do not use – contact Goodway
Technologies Corp. for advice). Retain the packaging for future use.
b. Check that all accessories are present (see Section 3 “Accessories”).
c. Secure the bar handle to the rear of GVC-2200-V with the 4 bolts provided.
d. Place extensions in the intended metal brackets.
4.2 Filling the Canisters
a. Fill the water canister with clean cold tap water (if not using cleanser, fill the
cleanser canister also with similar water). Cleanser can be used only in the
cleanser canister (with the black top) and never in the water canister. Universal
Cleanser GVC-500 is supplied ready diluted. The use of softer water extends the
descaling intervals for your GVC-2200-V.
b. Position both canisters upright in the GVC-2200-V and fit the respective
caps/connecting hoses. Hand-tighten the caps on the canisters.
Attention: No cleansers or chemicals are to be used in the water canister
4.3 Connecting the hose assembly
Ensure that all switches on the pistol-grip are in the “OFF” position. The hose assembly
socket is located at the lower front of the GVC-2200-V, behind a hinged flap, into which
the hose assembly is plugged (round red button downwards) and secured. Attach the
Vacuum hose into the round hose socket located to the right of the hose assembly
socket. Insert and turn in a clockwise direction to secure.
The hose assembly must be connected to the GVC-2200-V before switching on.

4.5. Power supply/switching on the GVC-2200-V
a. ENSURE THAT ON/OFF AND HEATING SWITCHES ARE IN ‘OFF’ POSITION
(‘O’ IS VISIBLE ON BOTH SWITCHES).
b. Connect the power cable plug into a suitable power supply socket (the required
power supply is indicated on the rear of Goodway’s Vapor-Steam Cleaner). THE
GVC-2200-V MUST BE GROUNDED. See 2.4.2. Should an extension power
cable be required, ensure it is rated at 20 amps and not more than 50 feet in
length, fully uncoiled.
c. Plug in at the power supply socket. Then switch on only the (left) main ‘on/off’
switch on the GVC-2200-V.
d. The water pump will automatically pump up to one (1) gallon of water from the
water canister into the boiler*. After the pump cycles, typically after approximately
15 seconds, push the Heating switch on.
e. After about 10 - 12 minutes the maximum working pressure is achieved in the
boiler and the green control (Ready) light shows.
*The GVC-2200-V is delivered without water in the boiler, the first time it is operated
may take longer for the pumping to cease, after which please remove the stick-on
warning label from the heating switch before operating.
f. Turn the steam volume regulator counter-clockwise to maximum.
g. Operate the steam switch on the pistol-grip (red button) to clear the hose of air for
approximately 15 seconds. The steam gauge will indicate pressure reduction, and
GVC-2200-VVAC Page 8 of 16 August 22, 2002

GVC-2200-V Operation & Maintenance Manual
the green Ready light will go out. Now turn off the steam switch and wait (up to 2
minutes) until the green Ready light turns back on, indicating steam re-
pressurization.
h. Switch on the steam again, and set the steam Volume regulator as required –
generally this would be slightly below maximum.
i. Press and hold the cleanser trigger switch on the pistol-grip until liquid flows from
the nozzle; this will prime the cleanser/water function. (The vacuum trigger switch
has a locking device to prevent over use of the vacuum. This is located on the
pistol grip above the vacuum trigger switch. Slide the locking device from right to
left to lock and left to right to unlock). The GVC-2200-V is now ready for use.
4.6 Connecting the accessories
a. Select the most appropriate accessories according to the intended application. All
the accessories (except the small round brushes) can be connected to the
extensions as well as to the pistol-grip. The accessories connect with a locking clip
system and the procedure is always the same.
b. The pistol-grip and extension wands have locking clips. Turn the clips clockwise
(when viewed facing the pistol-grip) to open the lock and turn counter-clockwise to
close the lock.
c. Insert the selected accessory fully onto pistol grip or extension and rotate the
locking clip clockwise to secure both parts. Check that both parts are tightly
connected by gently trying to pull them apart.
4.7 To start cleaning
Check that the steam flow is appropriate, but not excessive, for the accessory and
application. If necessary, adjust the steam volume regulator accordingly.
Principal rule of steam cleaning:
Use only as much steam as you actually need.
Effective cleaning is generally obtained through the combination of heat, slight
moisture, agitation and (possibly) cleanser.
Too much steam will soak the cleaning area, and may reduce cleaning efficiency.
Some cleaning applications may require the use of cleanser. The injection of cleanser,
using the black toggle switch, significantly reduces the steam volume through heat
absorption, so a higher steam volume may be needed. Once the cleanser function is
primed, just a short press of the toggle switch is sufficient to inject cleanser into the
steam. Using more cleanser than necessary wastes cleanser and reduces the steam
(and cleaning) efficiency. Practice should indicate the optimum mix for each different
application.
Note: when cleaning with the steam Volume regulator fully opened, the steam pressure
will decrease more rapidly.
During use the green (Ready) light will turn off and on automatically, indicating that the
GVC-2200-V is reheating and re-pressurizing.
4.8 Refilling the canister with water during cleaning
GVC-2200-VVAC Page 9 of 16 August 22, 2002

GVC-2200-V Operation & Maintenance Manual
When the fluid level in either canister is too low, an integrated security system
automatically switches off the pump and electronic functions. The amber ‘Fill’ control
light indicates that canister refilling is required.
First, switch off the Heating, then the main on/off switch. It is recommended that the
GVC-2200-V be disconnected from the mains power supply.
Refill the canisters as necessary. Reconnect power, switch on the main ‘on/off’, wait for
the pump to cease operating and then push on the Heating. The amber ‘Fill’ control
light should now go out automatically, indicating the canisters are sufficiently full to
recommence cleaning.
Ensure that both the fluid canisters are always installed in their receptacle correctly, and
keep all other objects out of this area. Never put anything on or around the canisters as
this may affect the fluid measurement system, which operates on a loading principle.
Should an audible signal be heard during operation, or the red Service control light
illuminate, switch off and disconnect the GVC-2200-V immediately from the power
supply, and refer to ‘Fault Diagnosis’.
4.9 Draining the recovery tank during cleaning.
It will be necessary to empty the recovery tank during cleaning and also during the
process of refilling the water.
If the soilage tanks are not emptied at this time an automatic cut off float mechanism will
activate and the Vacuum will cease to operate.
Switch off first the Heating, then the main on/off switch. It is recommended also that the
GVC-2200-V be disconnected from the main power supply.
The drain tank spigot is located on the back of the GVC-2200-V. Open clockwise and
drain the recovery tank contents. To rinse the recovery tank, open the GVC-2200-V’s
top cover; unscrew the drain recovery tank locking screw, remove the tank’s lid. Flush
the tank out with clean water, remove any excess debris, replace the tank lid and
refasten the locking screw. Close the drain spigot, turn counter-clockwise, reconnect the
power, switch on the main ‘on/off’, wait for the pump to cease operating and then switch
on the Heating. When the green ready light comes on, resume cleaning tasks.
4.10 Emergency Procedures
In the event of any malfunction, including any leakage or interruption/change to
its normal operation, unplug the GVC-2200-V immediately and take appropriate
measures to ensure that the safety of operators, other persons and property is
not endangered.
The cause of the malfunction should then be investigated by suitably authorized, trained
and experienced persons only. If the suggested actions fail to remedy the problem, then
advice should be sought from Goodway Technologies customer service.
5. After Use
1. Ensure that both red (steam) and cleanser trigger switches on the pistol-grip are off.
2. Turn off Heating switch.
3. Switch off main ‘on/off’ switch.
GVC-2200-VVAC Page 10 of 16 August 22, 2002

4. Disconnect power cable from power supply socket.
5. To disconnect the steam hose - press the red button on the underside of the steam
hose plug and gently pull the plug towards you.
6. To disconnect the Vacuum hose from the Vacuum socket, turn counter-clockwise and
gently pull towards you.
7. Place the accessories and the steam/vacuum hose in the intended spaces.
6. Application
6.1 General surface cleaning: (use only low to medium steam)
Most surfaces can be cleaned using minimal steam, without cleanser. Utilizing the
vacuum option to quickly and effectively remove any liquid residue and debris leaving
the surface dry and without streaks.
6.1.1 Cleaning hard surfaces, e.g. floor/wall tiles, stainless steel:
¾Turn the steam regulator towards minimum (use little to medium steam).
¾Do not apply pressure on the brush.
¾Let the steam do the work.
¾Move the brush slowly over the area to be cleaned; do not scrub.
¾Use the vacuum where applicable to remove excess moisture and debris.
Waxed floors should not be cleaned with steam, due to the possibility of removal of the
wax layer! Not appropriate for re-waxing !
6.1.2 Cleaning carpet stains (use low to medium steam)
Do not use steam on Velour and wool carpets
Use caution with looped carpet tuft
Carpets and upholstery fabric’s are cleaned using the carpet and fabric cleaning tools.
Set the steam regulator to the lowest setting, then adjust the steam volume for the
required amount of steam to remove the dirt, grime and or grease. Always pull the tool
in your direction using a criss-cross pattern over the area being cleaned. The use the
vacuum to remove excess moisture and dirt or grease from the area just cleaned.
6.2 Cleaning internal glass surfaces (use low steam)
Do not attempt to clean glass surfaces other than those which are heat resistant. The
GVC-2200-V is not suitable for external window cleaning.
GVC-2200-VVAC Page 11 of 16 August 22, 2002

GVC-2200-V Operation & Maintenance Manual
In minus or low temperatures pre-steam the glass surface before starting to clean it.
Always use low steam.
Application A (with glass cleaner)
First only use the steam (on low pressure) on the glass surface. Then switch off the
steam and wipe the condensed water with the glass cleaner wiper (without pressure)
from the top to the bottom of the glass surface.
Application B (with brush)
Place a small cloth over the brush. Now wipe the surface with the brush a few times
using steam. Switch on the Vacuum and wipe the surface with the glass cleaner using
vertical strokes from the top to the bottom of the glass surface.
6.3 Operating the Vacuum
The Vacuum is operated by means of the red trigger switch located on the pistol grip.
6.4 Specialty cleaning
For cleaning ingrained dirt, or joints, corners and other places that are difficult to reach,
use the hooked nozzle. Slant the nozzle angle a little on the area to be cleaned so that
the pressure and steam work together to lift and remove the grease and dirt.
Clean with gentle movements at about 1.5 inches (without the small round brush) above
the surface. The small round brush needs direct contact.
Heavily soiled surfaces can be pre-treated; spray cleanser by holding the cleanser
switch down before using steam. A ‘hot water mix’ function is also available by holding
the cleanser switch down while the steam switch is operated.
7. Maintenance
7.1 Maintenance requirement
a. Do not expose to freezing temperatures. Only use clean tap water to refill the
boiler (do not use distilled water).
b. Clean regularly with a damp cloth. Occasionally, the high-grade steel cabinet may
be rubbed with a little mineral oil or stainless steel polish to maintain its polished-
steel finish.
c. Should the GVC-2200-V require servicing, this must be conducted by Authorized
personnel only. Do not dismantle or undertake procedures not described in this
manual. Such action voids the warranty. Notify all service requirements to
Goodway’s customer service.
7.2 Descaling the GVC-2200-V
The boiler requires descaling after every 200 hours use (approx. 2 months typical
usage) to maintain optimal operation. Please contact Goodway’s customer service.
Only Authorized and trained persons must undertake descaling procedures. For
this reason the descaling procedures have been removed from this version of the
Manual.
