TROUBLESHOOTING - NORMAL OPERATION
The following may occur during the normal operation
of your unit.
1. Unitprotection:
Compressor
• Thereis a 3-minute compressor protection delay.Af-
ter the compressor stops operation, it will restart in 3
minutes.
• The unit will blow cold air while in the HEAT mode,
whenthe indoorheatexchanger isinone ofthefollow-
ing situations and the set temperature has not been
reached:
a. When heating has just started.
b. Whiledefrosting.
c. Low temperature setting.
• Theindoor or outdoorfanstopsrunning when defrost-
ing(Heatingmodelsonly).
Defrosting (Heatingmodelsonly)
• Frostmayaccumulate on the outdoor unit duringheat
cycle when the outdoor temperature is low and the
humidity is high, resulting in lower heating efficiency
oftheunit. When this happens, the unitwillstopheat-
ingoperationandbegindefrostingautomatically.
Defrost time may vary from 4 to 10 minutes, depend-
ingontheoutdoor temperatureandtheamountof frost
buildupontheoutdoorunit.
2. A white mist coming out from the indoor unit.
• Thismistmaygenerateduealarge temperaturediffer-
encebetweeninletairandoutlet air,whileintheCOOL
modein anindoorenvironmentthathasahigh relative
humidity.
• Thismistmay also begeneratedduetomoisture from
thedefrosting process(whentheunit restartsinHEAT
modeafter defrosting).
3. Faint noises coming from the unit.
• A low hissing sound caused when the compressor is
runningor has juststoppedrunning. Thisis the sound
oftherefrigerant flowing or coming to astop.
• A low “squeak”, when the compressor is running or
has just stopped running. This is caused by heat ex-
pansionandcold contraction of the plasticpartsinthe
unit,dueto temperature changes.
• When the unit is first turned on, you may hear the
louverreturningtoitsoriginalposition.
4. Dust is blown from the unit.
This is a normal condition when the air conditioner has
notbeen used for alongtimeor during thefirstuseofthe
unit.
5. An unusual smell comes from the indoor unit.
This is caused by the indoor unit giving off smells ab-
sorbedfrombuildingmaterial,furnitureorsmoke.
6. The air conditioner migrates to FAN ONLY mode from
HEATorCOOL mode.
When the indoor temperature reaches the temperature
setting on the unit, the compressor will stop automati-
cally and the unit turns to FAN only mode. The com-
pressor will resume when the indoor temperature rises
on COOL mode or falls on HEAT mode to the set point.
7. Dripping water may be generated on the surface of the
indoorunit when cooling in a high, relativehumidity set-
ting(relativehumidityhigherthan 80%). Adjust the hori-
zontal louver to the maximum air outlet position and se-
lectHIGHfanspeed.
8. Heatingmode
The air conditioner draws in heat from the outdoor unit
and releases it via the indoor unit during heating opera-
tion. Whentheoutdoortemperature falls, heat drawn in
bytheairconditionerdecreasesaccordingly. Atthesame
time,heatloadingoftheairconditionerincreasesdue to
larger difference between indoor and outdoor tempera-
ture. Ifa suitable temperature is not achievedby the air
conditioner,use ofasupplementalheating deviceissug-
gested.
