4. PREPARATION
Loading the Batteryinto the Camera
Please load 3 AAA batteries into the batterycompartment as shown below:
(1) Slide the batterycover in the direction indicated bythe arrow:
(2) Insert the batteries asindicated on the inner side of the cover.
(3) Note correct polarityas shown below diagram.
(4) Close and lock the batterycover.

Note:
uExercise caution when opening the battery cover to
avoid damaging the battery compartment cover and
hinges.
uIf you remove the battery from the camera, you will
need to set the date and time again the next time you
reinsert the battery and use the camera.

Inserting and Removing an SD Card (not supplied)
The camera comes with 32 MB inbuild memorywhich allows you to store pictures &videos. Youcan expand
the memorycapacitybyusingan optional SD or MMC memorycard up to 1GB.
To insert a memorycard,refer to the figures shown below:
Insertingcard:
Make sure to turn off the camera.
Orient the memorycard correctlyand push it into the card slot as far as it will go. Itwill click into place.
Removing card:
To remove the SD/MMC card, gentlypush the card. After the card pops up, pull the card out of the slot.
Pull the memorycard out with your fingers in the opposite direction.
Note:
lDo not remove the SD/MMC card while the camera is processingdata (when the LED is flashing).
When a memorycard is fitted, movies and pictures are saved on card rather than on the built-in
memory.And, the SD card icon will be shown on LDC display.
lIt maybe necessaryto format the SD card the firsttime it is used; especiallyif the card has been
used in devices other than your camera. To format, see [Format] in SETUP MODE (see page 17).
lIf the Built-in memory/ SD card is full, the LCD displaywill show "MEMORY FULL" flashingin
red color. If the SD card is write-protected, the SD card icon will change in red color.
Note the orientation of the card. If it is inserted
incorrectly, it maybecome jammed

Protecting Data on an SD Card
The SD card comes withawrite-protect switch. When the write-protect
switch is set to the Lockposition,no further shots can be recorded. To
ensure that the camera can operatenormally,youshould set the write-
protect switch to the Unlock position before insertingthe SD card.
Ifyou insert a write-protected card, the media icon on the LCD displaywill become red.
Listed below is the approximate number of imagesthat can be stored cards in 32MB built-in memory. Actual
capacitymayvary(up to + 5%) dependingon the environment and color condition.

5. GETTINGSTARTED
Turning the Camera On
Press and hold down the [ON / OFF] button for 1 ~ 2 seconds to turn on the camera.
When you turnon the camera, you will hear aconfirmation-Beep, the Red LEDwill illuminate. When the Red
LED stops blinking, thecamera is ready.
Turning the Camera Off
Press and hold down the [ON / OFF] button for another 1 ~ 2 seconds to turn off the camera.
Checking BatteryPower
When the camera is on, you will see the batterypower indicator on the bottom left corner of the LCD monitor
screen. It shows you the batterypower level.

7. SETTINGTHE DEFAULT(Setup Mode)
MENU
Different menus are available for Movie, Photo, Playback, and Voice recordingmode.
To access the menu:
1. Press the MENU button to open the main menu under different mode.
The selected mode menu is displayed on the LCD screen.
2. Use the 3/4buttonon the 4 Waymulti function switch to
navigate through function items.
3. Use the [OK] button to enter to specific function item.
(The selected function/option is highlighted with color.)
4. Press [OK] to confirm the selection,
Or, press the MENU button twice to exit the mode menu.
SETUP MODE
You can customize the camera settings for your own use, as well as for shooting-related functions. Press the
[MENU] button to display a menu for the selectedmode. (The Setup menu is displayed in all modes.)
1. Power on the camera.
2. Press [MENU] button, and use the
3/4buttonto navigate to Setup icon.
3. Use the [OK] button to enter to Setup Mode.
4. Use 4-wayarrow buttontonavigate through theavailable function

Setting]
This item is for date & time setting.
lMove between Date, Time and Exit byusingLeft/Right buttons.
lAdjust date and time byusingUp/Down buttons, then select OK to validate each
change.
lSelect MENU to leave Time Settingwithout anychange.

-If you remove the battery from the camera, you will need to set the date and time again the

TO TAKE A PHOTO:
1. Press the Mode Button[ / ] to get into Camera mode.
2. Press [t]button repeatedlyto select photo resolution
setting[5MP] / [4MP] / [3MP] / [2MP] / [VGA],
Or, press [u]button to select photo resolution

3. To start shootingphoto, press [Shutter] once.
Note:
lBefore photo is taken, you can see number of [total no. of photos have beentaken] / [remainingshots] on
top right corner of LCD. The remainingshot is an approximation based on the unused memory
Menu Settings (Camera Mode )
When in Camera [ ] mode, you canuse thedefault settingsthat have alreadybeenchosenfor phototaking.
Ifyou want to changethesettingsto suit your needs, pressthe Menubutton. Then usethe 4-wayarrow keysto
go througheach settingand make adjustments.
The followingsections describe about the menu settings.
Changing resolution (CameraMode)
Your camera offers 5 choices in resolution:
5M: 2592 x 1944 pixels
4M: 2432 x 1824 pixels
3M: 2048 x 1536 pixels
2M: 1600 x 1200 pixels
VGA : 640 x 480 pixels
JTIPS - Choice of Resolution
- While in Camera mode, you can press [t] keyto toggle the resolution without enteringthe options menu.
u[5M] / [4M] / [3M] allows aphoto to be taken as sharp as possible, which is suitable for 7”x5”Photo
printout; too large for email.
u[2M] is suitable for 6”x4”Photo printout; acceptable for email.
u[VGA] is good for sharing with email, but it’s too small for photo printout

JTIPS Photo Resolution Vs Photo Quality:
uIn general, photos taken at higher resolution andquality contain more details and look sharper, but they
also take up more memoryspace as well as longer processing time for taking next photos. To maximize the
number of photos tobe stored, you can choosealower quality setting. To maximize the photo quality,
choose a higher setting
Using the Flash (CameraMode)
Incamera mode, press [O.K] buttontotoggle Flash mode.
Red-Eye
: Auto Flash

: No Flash
Using the Macro ( )
1. The macro mode is used to take close-up photos up to 30cm. Slide
the macro switch from Standard to Macro mode. The ( ) icon
appears on LCD monitor.
Slide the macro switch back to standard mode when takingpictures of far
awaysubstance (i.e. 1metre away)
Changing Zoom Level
While recording,you can press the [W]or [ T ]button to zoom
in/out the screen. The digital zoom can beset from 1xto 8xand
the magnification ratio isshown on the LCD monitor.
