Proper Placementand Clearance ofGrill
Never useyourgasgrill inagarage,porch,shed,
breezewayoranyotherenclosed area.Yourgasgrill is
tobe used outdoors only,atleast24 inchesfromthe
back and side ofanycombustiblesurface.Do not
locatethisapplianceunderoverheadunprotected
combustiblesurfaces.Do notobstructthe flowof
ventilation and combustion airaround the gasgrill
housing.
Thisoutdoorgasgrill isnotintended tobe installed in
oronrecreationalvehiclesand/orboats.
The LPgastankhasaShutOff Valve,
terminating inan LPgassupplytankvalve
outlet, thatiscompatiblewithaType 1tank
connection device.The LPgastankmust
alsohaveasafetyreliefdevicethathasa
directcommunication withthe vaporspaceof
the tank.
The tanksupplysystemmustbe arranged
forvaporwithdrawal.
The LPgastankused musthaveacollar
toprotectthe tankvalve.

Toreducethe chanceof"FLASHBACK" (see
CAUTION atleft)clean the BurnerTubesand
Burners before fullyassembling yourgrill.Re-
movethe CotterPinfromthe rearunderside of
eachBurnerusing apairoflong nosepliers.
CarefullylifteachBurnerup and awayfromthe
GasValveOrifice,then referto Figure 1 and
performone ofthesethree cleaning methods:

Bend astiff wire,(alightweightcoathanger
workswell)intoasmall hookasshown
below.Run the hookthrough the Burner
Tube and inside the Burnerseveraltimesto
removeanydebris.
UseaBurnerCleaning Brush,orabottle
brushwithaflexiblehandle.Run the brush
through the BurnerTube and inside the
Burnerseveraltimes,removing anydebris.
Usean airhosetoforceairthrough each
BurnerTube.The forced airshouldpass
debrisorobstructionsthrough the Burner
and outthe ports.

grill westronglyurge thatall PhillipsHead
screwsbe tightened withaPhillipsHead
screwdriver
CAUTION: Spidersand small insectsoccasion-
allyspinwebsormakenestsin the grillburner
tubesduring transitand warehousing. Thesewebs
canleadtoagasflowobstructionwhichcould
resultinafireinandaround the BurnerTubes.
Thistypeoffireisknownasa"FLASHBACK"
andcan causeseriousdamagetoyourgrill and
createan unsafeoperatingcondition forthe user.
Althoughan obstructed BurnerTube isnotthe
onlycauseof"FLASHBACK",itisthe most
common cause.
Toreducethechanceof"FLASHBACK",you
mustclean theBurnerTubesbeforeassembling
yourgrill,and atleastonceamonthinlate
summerorearlyfall whenspiders aremostactive.
AlsoperformthisBurnerTube cleaningprocedure
ifyourgrillhasnotbeenusedforan extended
period oftime.

3.Press the ElectricIgnitor.You shouldheara
clicking sound and yourassistantshouldsee
asmall blue spark withineachGasCollector
Box.Ifaspark ispresentthe Electrode Tips
areproperlypositioned.
4.Ifno spark isseen the Spark Gap shownin
Figure 8 needstobe adjusted asfollows:
Using anadjustablewrench,loosen theInside
Nutjustuntilthe GasCollectorBoxcanbe
maneuveredandturnedupward.
ThegapbetweentheSparkElectrode Tip and
SparkReceivershould beapproximately3/16".
Ifthe gap iswiderthan 3/16"useapairoflong
nosepliers andgentlysqueezethe Gas
CollectorBoxuntil the gap iscorrect.
Returnthe GasCollectorBoxtoitsoriginal
horizontalposition,securethe Inside Nutand try
theElectrodeCheckagain.
5.Ifno"clicking"soundisheardcheckthe
following common causes.
IgnitionAAbattery notinstalledproperly.
Electricwiresmaybeloose.Removethe
AAbattery,inspecttheIgnitorJunctionBox
found behind the ControlPanel,and connect
anyloosewires.
1.Removethe IgnitorCap located on the Grill
ControlPanel.
2.Placethe manufacturersupplied AA battery
intothe IgnitorSlot. Besuretoplacethe
positivepolefacing towardyou. See Figure 7.
3.Placethe Cap and the Spring overthe AA
battery ,then tighten the IgnitorCap ontothe
grill ControlPanel.

(counterclockwise).Useasoapywatersolution
tocheckallconnectionsforleaks before
attempting tolightyourgrill.See "Checking for
GasLeaks"on page 12.Ifaleakisfound,
turnthe TankValveoff and do notuseyour
grill until the leakisrepaired.Do thisleaktest
even ifthe grill wasclub assembled.
IMPORTANT: Beforecooking on yourgrill the
firsttime,washthe Cooking Gridsand Second-
