pulse rate. Do not use the product for any other
purpose. This product is not intended for use in
a hospital, physician’s oice, or any other health

The tubing presents a strangulation hazard. Keep
thisproductawayfromchildrenandthosewhore-
quire close supervision, e.g. people withmental
disorders. NEVER LEAVE CHILDREN OR THOSE
WHO REQUIRE CLOSE SUPERVISION UNATTEND-
EDWITHTHISDEVICE.
•
Do not drapetube around neck. This presents a
strangulation hazard.

Peoplewith disabilities, activity limitations, orwho
arephysicallyfrail,shouldbeassistedbyanother
personwhenusingthisunit.
•
Propercuffsizeis importantforaccuratemeasure-
ments.Onlyusethedeviceonadultswhohavethe
right upper arm circumference for this instrument.
See section ’12. Specifications’ forsuitable upper
arm circumferences.
•
Do not use any cuffs, tubes, parts and accessor-
ies other than those explicitly recommended by
the manufacturer for use with this product. Parts
and accessories not approved for use with the
de- vice may cause damage to your health and
to the product.
•
Electromagneticinterference:Avoidstrongelec-
tricalorelectromagneticfieldsinthedirectvicinity
ofthedevice(e.g.mobiletelephones,microwave
ovens)whileitisinoperation,asinaccuratemeas-
urementsmayresult.Topreventsuchinterference,
use the unit at a suicient distance fromsuch de-
vicesorturnthedevicesoff.
•
Thebloodpressuremonitormust not beused in
connectionwithahigh-frequencysurgicalunit.
•
Donotmeasureyourbloodpressurewhileoper-
ating a vehicle orin anysituationwhich requires
yourfullattention.
•
During the blood pressure measurement, blood
circulation must not be stopped for anunneces-
sarilylongtime. If the device malfunctions,remove
thecufffromthearm.
•
Avoid any mechanical restriction, compression or
bendingofthecuffline.
•
Donotallowsustainedpressureinthecufforfre-
quentmeasurements.Theresultingrestrictionof
thebloodflowmaycauseinjury.
•
Ensure that the cuff is not placed on an arm in
whichthearteriesorveinsareundergoingmedical
treatment, e.g. intravascular access or therapy, or
anarteriovenous(AV)shunt.
•
Donotusethecuffonpeoplewhohaveundergone
amastectomy.
CAUTION:
•
Thedeviceshouldnotbeusedwhenyourarmhas
beenwounded/injuredorwhenacatheterhasbeen
inserted.Suchusemayresultininjury.

Removeanykindofarmjewelryorthelikebefore
takingameasurement.Thiscouldcausebruises.
•
Do not place the cuffover heavyclothing (e.g. a
jacket or sweater sleeve) as the blood pressure
monitorwillnotbeabletotakeapropermeasure-
mentandthereisanelevateddangerofacquiring
hematomaorskinmarksduringthecourseofthe
measurement.
•
In case the cuff does not stop inflating, interrupt
themeasurementbypressingthe start/stopbut-
tonandopenthecuffatonce.
•
Do not disassemble the unit, it may result in in-
juries.
•
When applying the cuff, make sure there are no
wrinklesin the cuff. This could causebruises.
•
Do not exert any kind of pressure on the hose
duringmeasurement, e.g. laying your arms orany
other object on the hose. This could cause in-
correctmeasurements.
•
Blood pressure measurements canlead to tempor-
arymarksontheskinat thesiteofthecuffplace-
ment.Thisisespeciallythecaseinhighrepetition
rates,in hypertonicpatientsand inpatientswith
weakpulses.Inrarecasesamarkmaypersistfor
acouple of days. Please contact your physician
aboutthesespecificrisksofcuffpressureinyour
specific case.
•
Forhygienicreasonsthecuffis intendedonlyfor
theusebyoneperson.
•
Prolonged over-inflation (cuff pressure exceeds
300mmHgormaintainedabove15mmHgforlong-
erthan 3 minutes)of thebladdermay cause ec-
chymomaof yourarm.
•
Please note that when inflating, the functions of
thelimbinquestionmaybeimpaired.
•
Do not place the cuff over wounds as this may
causefurtherinjury.
•
Theaccuracyof any bloodpressuremeasurement
with this device can be affected by a multitude
of causes. Some can be avoided some have to
beacceptedat the timeof measurement.Speak
with your physician about possible causes affect-
ing your blood pressure.
•
Donotinflatethecuffunlesswrappedaroundarm.
•
Do not touch the unit, the tube and cuff and/or
pressanybuttonswhenmeasurementisinprog-

ress,exceptforstoppingthemeasurement.Doing
somaycauseincorrectreadings.
NOTICE:
•
Thebloodpressuremonitoris made upof preci-
sion electronic components. Accuracy of readings
andtheinstrument’sservicelifedependoncare-
fulhandling.Protecttheunitagainsthardknocks
(e.g.droppingtheunit),moisture,water,dirt,dust,
chemicals, extreme hot orcold temperatures, ma-
jor temperature fluctuations, direct exposure to
sunlight and heat sources which are too close
(e.g. stoves, heating radiators). This may damage
theunit. The devicemust be storedin the speci-
fied ambientconditions. Please see section’10.
Careand Maintenance’andsection ’12. Specifi-
cations’ for details.
•
Do not use any aggressive solvents, cleaning
agents,detergentsoranyotherstrongchemicals
tocleanthedevice.
•
Neverimmerseandorspillwateroranyotherliquid
ontothemonitororanycomponents,otherwiseli-
quidwillenteritandcausedamage.
•
Donotwashtheunitin awashingmachine,dish
washeror tumbledryer.
•
Observe thelocal regulationsformaterial disposal.
Disposeofthedevice,componentsandoptional
accessoriesaccordingtoapplicablelocalregula-
tions. Unlawful disposal may cause environment-
al pollution.
•
Never attempt to repair, open and/or disassemble
theunit(includingcuffandoptionalaccessory)or
adjustit yourself.Thismaydamagethe unitand
impairthe functions.If youneedtohave theunit
repaired, please contact our customer service.

submitting any complaint, first check the batter-
iesandreplacethem ifnecessary.
•
Changesormodificationstothedevicewillnullify
theuserwarranty.
•
Donotdroporinsertanyobjectintoanyopening
orhose.Thismaydamagetheunit.
•
Do not pressthebuttons with excessiveforceor
withpointedobjects.

Toconserve the batteries, the monitor switches
offautomaticallyifnobuttonsarepressedforone
minute.
•
The device is only intended for the purpose de-
scribed inthese instructions foruse. The manu-
facturerisnotliablefordamageresultingfromim-
properor carelessuse.
•
Ifyouareusingtheunitforthefirsttime,pleasere-
movetheprotectivefilmfromthedisplay.
•
The monitor can maintain the safety and per-
formance characteristics for a minimum of 10.000
measurementsor3years.
•
Furtherdocumentswhichincludeinformationfor
theCalibrationof the devicecan beaskedat the
serviceaddress.
•
The device can be tested in case of supposed
inaccuracyevery two years. Please contact the
nearestserviceaddress.
Cleaning and storing the device and cuff
Tokeepyourdigitalbloodpressuremonitorinthebest
conditionandprotecttheunitfromdamagefollowthe
directionslistedbelow:
•
Clean your device and cuff carefully only with a
slightlymoistenedsoft clothand dryit immediately
withasoftdrycloth.Donotpress.
•
Whenstoring the device, make sure that no heavy
objectsareplacedontopofit.
•
Donotfoldthecuffand tubingtightly.Thecufftube
shouldnothaveanysharpkinksandkeepitaway
fromsharpedges.
•
Iftheunitisstorednearfreezing,allowittoacclim-
atetoroomtemperaturebeforeuse.
•
Alwaysstorethe unitinitsstoragepouchafteruse.
•
This unit may not meet its performance specifica-
tionsifstoredorusedoutsideofthetemperatureand
humidity ranges (see section ’12. Specifications’).
•
Usetheunitconsistentwiththeinstructionprovided
inthismanual.
Advice on use
•
Forconsistency,alwaysmeasureyourbloodpres-
sureatthesametimeeachday.
•
Always wait at least 5 minutes betweenmeasure-
mentstoallowthebloodcirculationinyourarmto
returntonormal.Youmayneedtoincreasethewait

timedepending onyour individual physiological
characteristics. Because of normal physiologic chan-
gesandthemanyexternalfactorsinfluencingblood
pressure,itisunusualtoobtainidenticalbloodpres-
suremeasurements,evenwhentakenafewminutes
apart.Speakwithyourphysiciantodeterminewhat
isaffectingyourbloodpressureandwhichvariation
maybeseenasnormalinyourcase.
•
Whenperformingmultiplemeasurementsonanin-
dividual,waitfiveminutesbetweeneachmeasure-
ment.
•
Donottakeameasurementwithin30minutesofeat-
ing,drinking,smokingorexercising.Youshouldnot
bephysicallytiredorexhaustedwhiletakingmeas-
urement.
•
Repeatthemeasurementifyouareunsureofthe
results.
•
Measurementsareforyourinformationonly–they
arenosubstituteforamedicalexamination.Discuss
themeasurementswithyourdoctorandneverbase
anymedicaldecisionsonthem(e.g.medicinesand
their administration).
•
Donotusethebloodpressuremonitoronnewborns,
pregnant women or patients with pre-eclampsia.
Consultyourdoctorbeforeusing thebloodpres-
suremonitorduringpregnancy.
•
Cardiovascular diseases may lead to incorrect meas-
urementsorhaveadetrimentaleffectonmeasure-
ment accuracy. The same also applies to very low
bloodpressure,diabetes,circulatorydisordersand
arrhythmiasaswellaschillsorshaking.
•
Forreliablemonitoringandreferenceofbloodpres-
sure,keepinglong-termrecordsisrecommended.
•
Tominimizemeasurementvariationsduetophysic-
alactivity,restatleast5minutesbeforemeasuring
yourbloodpressure(or15 minutesafterstrenuous
activity).
•
Stressraisesbloodpressure.
•
Perform measurements in a quiet and relaxed en-
vironmentatroomtemperature.

Battery Handling Safety Precautions
•
Useonlythesizeandtypeofbatteriesspecified.
•
Besuretofollowthecorrectpolaritywheninstalling
thebatteries.Reversedbatteriesmay cause dam-
agetothedevice.
•
Donotmixdifferenttypesofbatteriestogether(e.g.
Alkaline and Carbon-zinc or rechargeable batteries)
oroldbatterieswithfreshones.Alwaysreplacebat-
teriesasasimultaneousset.
•
Ifthebatteriesinthedevicearedepletedorthede-
vicewill not beusedfora longperiodoftime,re-
movethebatteriestopreventdamageorinjuryfrom
possible battery leakage.
•
Donottrytorechargebatteriesnotintendedtobe
recharged;theycanoverheatandrupture(followbat-
tery manufacturer’s directions).
•
Donotdisposeofbatteriesinfire,batteriesmayex-
plodeorleak.
•
Cleanthebatterycontactsandalsothoseofthede-
vicepriortobatteryinstallation.
•
Removedischargedbatteriesfromtheproductand
dispose/recycle in compliance with all applicable
laws.
•
Keepbatteriesawayfromchildrenandpets.Bat-
teriesmay be harmfulif swallowed.Shouldachild
or pet swallowa battery, seek medical assistance

Slide the battery compartment cover in the direction
ofitsarrowtoremove.InsertfourAAalkalinebatteries
accordingtothe polaritymarkingsinsidethecompart-

Youcanalsooperatethisdevicewithamainspart.
Whendoingso,theremustnotbeanybatteriesin
thebatterycompartment.Themainspartcanbe
obtainedfromspecialistretailersorfromtheservice
address using order number 071.60.

Topreventpossibledamagetothedevice,the
bloodpressuremonitormustonlybeusedwith
themainspartdescribedhere.

Insertthemainspartintotheconnectionprovided
forthispurposeontheright-handsideofthe
bloodpressuremoni-tor.Themainspartmust

Afterusingthebloodpressuremonitor,unplug
themainspartfromthemainssocketfirstand
thendisconnectitfromthebloodpressure
monitor.Assoonasyouunplugthemainspart,

retained.

8. EvaluatingResults
Irregular Heartbeat:
This device can detect irregular heartbeat patterns
during measurement and will indicate them by
displaying
theirregularheartbeatindicator ..
This may be an indicator for arrhythmia, which is a
condition wherethe heart rhythm is abnormal. These
symptoms (omitted or premature heartbeats, slow or
excessively fast heart rate) may be caused, among
other things, by heart disease, age, physical
predisposition, excessive use of stimulants, stress, or
lack
of sleep. Arrhythmia can only be ascertained
through
examinationbyyour doctor.
Repeat the measurement if the Irregular Heartbeat
Indi
cator displays after a measurement. Rest for at
least
five minutes between measurements and do
not talk
or move during measurement. If the
icon appears
often, contact your doctor, since self-
diagnosis and
treatmentbasedsolelyonthetestresultsmaybedan-
gerous.Itisvitaltofollowyourdoctor‘s instructions
