Installing Your G2 Grease Guard

Tools Required
The following tools are required for the installation
Of the G2 Grease Guard:
5/16” Hex key (provided with unit)
5/16” Hex head drive socket

Drill (recommended for 5/16” hex head screws

Drill (recommended for 5/16” hex head screws
Industrial type Scissors – (sharp)
Tape measure
Permanent Marker
Straight edge
WARNING!!!
Do not under any circumstances use a utility knife to cut the filters!!!
Utility knives will cut through to the roof surface causing serious damage
To the roof.

Step 1: Inspect the G2 Boxes
Extrusion Box:
G2 Frame Extrusions
G2 Hold Down Poles
G2 Curb Flashing
Filter Box:
G2 White Filters
(Pass Thru-Layer &
Air Flow Barrier)
G2 Filter Composite
(Blue Filters)

G2 Fire Shield

G2 Fire Shield
G2 Hardware Kit
Hardware Kit:
G2 Instruction Booklet
G2 Corners for Frames
G2 Corners for Flashing
G2 Hold Down Pole Connectors
Screws (for flashing installation)
5/16” Hex Key (for frame assembly)

Step 2
Start with grease free roof!!!
Step 3
Assemble the frame
Clean the roof using hot soapy water
or a mild degreaser.
Using the Hex Key (provided) attach
the G2 corners to the G2 extrusions.

Step 4
Center the G2 frame around the fan
Step 5
Prepare the G2 Fire Shield
Using a tape measure center the G2 frame
around the curb of the exhaust fan.
Using the industrial type scissors cut
the curb out of the G2 Fire Shield.
WARNING!! The seam needs to be
on the adjacent side of the grease drain.

Step 6
Prepare G2 filter media for installation
Step 7
Install the G2 Fire Shield
SEAM
GREASE DRAIN
Using the cut Fire Shield as a template
mark the remainder of the filter media
with the permanent marker.
Then using the industrial type scissors
cut out the remainder of the filter media.
F.Y.I.. This will only work if the G2 unit
is square around the fan.
Seams need to be on the adjacent side
of the grease drain.

Step 8
Install G2 Air Flow Layer
Step 9
Install G2 Filter Composite
Seams need to be on the adjacent side
of the grease drain.
White Barrier Layer goes towards
the roof.

Step 9a
Install G2 Filter Composite
Step 10
Install G2 Pass Thru Layer
Barrier layer needs to over lap at the seams.
Seams need to be on the adjacent side of the
grease drain.
Seams need to be on the adjacent side
of the grease drain.

Step 11
Install G2 Flashing & Corners
Step 12
Install G2 Hold Down Poles
Cut the flashing to the size of the fan curb.
Using the Drill & 5/16” hex head drive
socket attach the flashing to the curb.
Using the Drill & 5/16” hex head drive
socket attach the flashing corners.
Lay out the hold down poles on all
4 sides of the fan.
Using the hold down poles connectors
attach the hold down poles together.
