Preparing the Rhea Conditioning Unit (RCU):
With the RCU plugged
in, add hot tap water
to the 1.0cup mark of
the removable bowl.
The Warm indicator
light will automatically
illuminate.
Place the lid securely
on the bowl.
Press the Cook button
DOWN.
The Cook light will
remain illuminated
while the water heats.
When the water is boiling and the patient is
ready:
Press the Cook button
UP.
The water will
discontinue boiling
and the Warm
indicator light will
illuminate.
Remove the RCU lid.
Place the appliance
into the strainer with
the internal (teeth) side
down, the occlusal side
facing up.
Submerge the strainer
with the appliance in
place into the boiling
water for a count of
12 seconds. no longer.
Remove the appliance
from the water and
turn it internal (teeth)
side down onto a
paper towel. Shake
off excess water.
Immediately seat the
appliance into the
patient’s mouth.
Instruct the patient
to bite down rmly
and ask them to
hold this position for
5 seconds.
Check all contacts as
usual.
Note: The RCU will automatically switch to Warm if the water
bowl disengages from the heating element. Unplug the RCU
when not in use.

Disinfect strainer and boil pot after each patient use. Cold
sterilize with spray disinfectant and rinse thoroughly between
uses.
