Type approvals

The GROHE Red boiling water storage heater with a filter

system must be installed with the safety assembly provided

and must only be used with this in India.

The boiling water storage heater with filter system may only

be operated together with an original GROHE Red boiling

water fitting.

Application

The GROHE Red boiling water fitting supplies boiling water

in addition to hot and cold tap water. Boiling and mixed water

flows into the GROHE Red fitting through separate pipes and

flows out through two separate areas of the flow straightener.

The boiling water storage heater is designed to heat and store

drinking water in pressurised systems.

The boiling water storage heater is suitable for connection to a

mains system with a maximum water pressure of 0.8 MPa.

It must not be connected to hot water.

The filter system measures the flow rate using a sensor and

from this calculates the remaining capacity of the filter cartridge

as a function of the set litre capacity. If the filter cartridge litre

capacity set on the display unit is exceeded, the values are

displayed as negative values.

The water filtrate is classified as Category 2 according

to EN 1717.

Safety notes

GROHE Red boiling water storage heater:

This device is not intended for use

by persons (including children) with

physical, sensory or mental impairments

or a lack of experience or knowledge

in using devices of this type.

Children must be supervised to ensure

that they do not play with the device.

Danger due to electric shock. Avoid

damaged power supply cables. In the

case of damage, the boiling water

storage heater must be replaced by the

manufacturer or its customer service

department or an equally qualified person.

Caution: Risk of scalding. Escaping

water is boiling hot. Never touch the end

of the spout in order to swivel the spout

as it becomes extremely hot.

• The boiling water storage heater must be connected to

a permanent power supply with earth wire.

• Installation may only be performed in frost-free rooms.

• The boiling water storage heater is only suitable for indoor use.

• The boiling water storage heater must be placed in an

upright position.

• The boiling water storage heater and plug must not be

directly or indirectly sprayed with water when cleaning.

• The boiling water storage heater must not be opened.

•Useonly genuine replacement parts and accessories.

The use of other parts will result in voiding of the warranty

and the CE identification, and could lead to injuries.

If the boiling water storage heater is to be drained, the safety

assembly of the boiling water storage heater must be removed.

Invert the boiling water storage heater and allow the water to

run out.

However, we strongly advise against draining the boiling

water storage heater. There is a significant risk of

damaging the boiling water storage heater.

Electrical installation

Electrical installation work must

be performed only by a qualified

electrician. This work must be carried

out in accordance with the regulations

to IEC 60364 -7-701 (corresponding

to VDE 0100 Part 701) as well as all

national and local regulations.

• Extension cables are not permitted between the electrical

socket and boiling water storage heater connection.

Installation

Refer to the dimensional drawings on fold-out page I.

Install fitting, see fold-out page II, Figs [1] and [2].

Insert the fitting in the sink aperture. This will require leading

through the hoses one at a time.

Note: If support plate (A) is omitted, the clamping length can

be increased by 15mm, see Fig. [1].

Safety assembly connection, see Fig. [3].

1. Connect T-piece (B) provided to the drainage pipe.

2.Connect funnel (C) to the T-piece (B).

3.Install safety assembly (D) on funnel (C).

Filter head and filter connection, see also technical product

information for the wall holder and the filter cartridge and

Fig. [4]. Note direction of flow.

1.Install the pressure hose (E) at the filter head input and

install the sensor (G) at the filter head output. Note direction

of flow. The sensor (G) must be installed horizontally.

2.Install the display unit (H).

Use suitable screws and if applicable wall plugs (not included

in the scope of delivery).

Flush pipes thoroughly before and after installation

(observe EN 806).

Filter system connection, see Fig. [5].

1.Install adapter (J) on the service valve.

2.Screw the pressure hose (E) of the filter system onto the

adapter (J).

3.Screw the hose (K) onto the sensor (G).

Storage heater connection, see Figs. [2] and [6].

Install storage heater taking into consideration the

available hose lengths.

Do not connect voltage supply yet.

1.Connect safety assembly (D), see Fig. [6].

2.Screw hose (K) to safety assembly (D) using the seals

provided, see Fig. [6].

3.Secure storage heater pressure hose (L) marked blue

to safety assembly (D) using the seals provided.

To prevent overpressure, the outlet

valve (D2) of the safety assembly

must not be covered, see Fig. [3].

Connect fitting, see fold-out page III, Fig. [7].

1.Screw fitting pressure hose (M) marked blue to adapter (J).

2.Unscrew plug (N1) from storage heater pressure hose (N)

marked red.

3.Screw fitting pressure hose (O) marked red to storage

heater pressure hose (N) marked red.

4.Connect the fitting pressure hose (P) marked 100 °C

to connection (P1) on the storage heater.

Open the service valve and check connections for

watertightness.

Filling storage heater with water, see Figs. [3], [8] and [9].

1.Open shut-off valve (D1) at safety assembly (D), see detail,

Fig. [3].

2.Pull button (Q1) on handle (Q) of fitting outward and turn the

handle anti-clockwise, see Fig. [8].

3.Fill the storage heater until water comes out the spout of the

fitting.

4.Connect voltage supply via mains plug (R), see Fig. [9].

5.Press and hold button (S) on storage heater for at least 2

seconds to switch on the storage heater. The red indicator

lamp (S1) indicates that the storage heater is switched on.

Important note

The volume of water in the storage heater will expand

as it is heated. The expansion water must drip out

at funnel (C) of safety assembly (D), see Fig. [3].

This process is necessary and normal.

The spout must not be fitted with any downstream

resistances in the form of air bubblers (e.g. mousseurs)

or components reducing flow (e.g. restrictors) as these

will result in damage to the storage heater.

Setting the litre specification (600 litres is preset at the

factory), see Fig. [10].

The GROHE Red boiling water system is now fully

installed and ready for operation.

The date of installation must be noted on the

maintenance sticker and affixed at a visible location

on the storage heater.

Adjusting the storage heater temperature

The hot water temperature can be adjusted using temperature

selection handle (T) on the storage heater, see fold-out page III,

Fig. [8] and [9].

1.Heat up the storage heater to the maximum temperature

(approx. 30 minutes).

2.Move lever (U) to the stop in the open hot water position,

see Fig. [8].

3.Measure the temperature of the running water using

a thermometer.

4.Turn temperature selection handle (T) until the required

temperature is reached, see Fig. [9].

Operating the fitting

Note:

In order to prevent incorrect operation and for protection

against injury, we recommend affixing the sticker provided.

Open lever (U) to draw water, see Fig. [8].

Pull button (Q1) on handle (Q) outward and turn and hold

handle (Q) anti-clockwise to draw boiling water. Handle (Q)

closes automatically.

Press and hold button (S) for at least 2 seconds to switch

the storage heater on or off, see Fig. [9].

Maintenance

In the case of interventions in the

mains supply or maintenance work,

the GROHE Red boiling system

must be bled as steam jets could

otherwise occur.

Close the service valve, switch off the storage

heater and disconnect the mains plug.

Wait until the storage heater and fitting have

cooled down. Open the lever to depressurise

the storage heater.

Inspect and clean all parts, replace as necessary and lubricate

with special grease.

I. Filter

See technical product information with the filter cartridge for

information on replacing the filter.

Resetting the filter capacity on the display unit (H), see

fold-out page IV, Fig. [10].

After a new filter cartridge is inserted, the filter capacity must

be reset as follows:

Note: The litre specification programmed for the filter cartridge

is retained.

Battery (H1), see fold-out page IV, Fig. [11] and [12].

The battery must be replaced 7 years after commissioning the

fitting, at the latest.

1.Loosen screw (H2) and remove cover (H3), see Fig. [11].

2.Remove battery (H1) and replace, see Fig. [12].

Caution: Note correct polarity.

Note: No settings saved by the user will be lost when changing

the batteries or if the battery discharges.

Assemble in reverse order.

II. Cartridge (V), see fold-out page IV, Fig. [13].

1.Lever out the plug (W) and remove set screw (X).

2.Remove the lever (U) and cap (Y).

3.Remove screw coupling (Y1) and remove cartridge (V).

Assemble in reverse order.

When installing the cartridge (V), ensure that the seals are

correctly fitted. Screw in screw coupling (Y1) and tighten.

III. Flow straightener

Remove and clean flow straightener (13 263), see fold-out

page I.

Assemble in reverse order.

IV. Safety assembly

The GROHE Red boiling water storage heater includes a safety

assembly. The safety assembly (D) provides a way of checking

whether the expansion water is flowing unobstructed from the

storage heater via funnel (C), see fold-out page II, Fig. [3].

The expansion water drips out as the water is being heated.

The outlet valve (D2) must be actuated twice a year to check

whether it is blocked. To do this, carefully open the outlet

valve (D2) briefly in an anti-clockwise direction until water

escapes at the funnel.

Service

Note the Fault/Cause/Remedy table for information on

eliminating problems.

If the problem cannot be rectified, disconnect the mains plug

to shut off the voltage supply. Note down the serial number

of the storage heater on the rear of the device and get in touch

with GROHE Customer Service or contact the GROHE

Service Hotline under T[email protected].

The GROHE Red boiling water storage heater cannot be

repaired. If servicing is required, the complete storage heater

must be replaced.

In order to ensure correct operation, maintenance must be

performed on all hot-water-bearingpartsby GROHE Customer

Service every five years.

Following any service/maintenance work, the boiling water

storage heater must be re-filled, see section Installation.

During cleaning and maintenance work, ensure that these are not performed by children.

Disposal
