How to use your Seretide®Evohaler®
with theVolumatic Spacer Device

This leaflet is intended for patients who have been prescribed Seretide Evohaler. This leaflet
has been designed to help you use your inhaler correctly. It should be used in conjunction with
the patient information leaflets for the Seretide Evohaler Device and Volumatic spacer, where
full information can be found and is not a substitute for reading them carefully. If you have any
questions about your medicine please speak to your healthcare professional.

• Fit the inhaler firmly into the end of theVolumatic,
opposite the mouthpiece. Check the mouthpiece
of the Volumatic inside and outside to make sure
that it is clean.
• Fit the two halves of theVolumatic device
together. Line up the notch on one half with
the slot on the other (these are marked with
small arrows), then press the two halves firmly
together.
• Take off the mouthpiece cover from the inhaler
and check inside and outside to make sure that the
mouthpiece is clean and free of objects.
• If the inhaler is new or has not been used for a
week or more, point the mouthpiece away from
you and release one or two puffs into the air.
• Remove theVolumatic device from your mouth.
• If you are to take a second dose, you should wait
at least a minute before repeating steps 5 - 7.
• After use, remove the inhaler from theVolumatic.
Replace the mouthpiece cover to keep out dust
and fluff.
• Press down with your finger(s) on the top of the
inhaler to release one puff of medicine. Then
breathe in slowly and deeply through
your mouth.
• Hold your breath for 10 seconds or as long as is
comfortable before breathing slowly out.
• You do not need to take the
Volumatic out of your mouth to
breathe out.You should hear the mouthpiece
valve ‘click’ or rattle as you breathe through it. If
you do not hear it, tilt theVolumatic up slightly
and try again.
• Hold the device as shown. Place the
mouthpiece of yourVolumatic in your mouth
between your teeth. Close your lips firmly
around the mouthpiece but do not bite it.
• Holding theVolumatic level breathe out gently
but not fully and then...
• Shake the inhaler 4 or 5 times to ensure that
any loose objects are removed and that the
contents of the inhaler are well mixed.
