once this item has run its life span, we kindly ask You to
dispose of it in an environmentally friendly way, by
putting it in the separate bins for electrical/electronic
waste, or to bring it back to your retailer who will collect it for free.

PCI Card Installation
1. Turn off your computer and unplug the power cord.
2. Remove the outer cover of your computer (refer to your
computers manual if needed).
3. Before handling and installing your Hamlet FireWire 400 PCI
Card, ensure that you have properly grounded yourself by first
touching a metal part of your PC case or by wearing an
antistatic wrist strap (grounding yourself will prevent you from
getting shocked and from unintentionally damaging your PC's
components).
4. Locate an available PCI slot (usually white colored).
5. I present, remove the back plate (the small piece of metal that
covers the opening for the PCI card).
6. Insert the HFWCI card carefully into the PCI slot.
Important Note: There is only way to mount the card, so if you
are having problems inserting the card into the PCI slot, make
sure that it is oriented correctly. Be sure that the gold contact
pins of the PCI card are seated completely inside your
computer’s PCI slot. Be aware that it may take some force to
get the card fully seated in the slot.
7. Secure the card to the computer case with a screw.
8. Replace your computer’s cover and plug in the power cord.
Once installed the PCI card into your computer you can proceed
with driver installation. Please refer to the following pages for the
correct installation procedure.

Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP Installation
1. Windows 98SE, ME, 2000 and XP will detect the new
hardware and install the required driver automatically.
2. Once the driver installation has finished, you can verify the
correct installation in the Device Manager window.
3. Right-click on My Computer icon on Desktop and select
Properties from the context menu.
4. Select the Hardware tab in the “System Properties” window
then click the Device Manager button on the panel.
5. If “VIA OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller” device
is shown below the “IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers” item, it
means that the driver has been installed successfully.
Windows Vista/7 Installation
1. Start your computer running Windows Vista or 7 (Seven).
2. The system will automatically detect the new device and install
the required driver.
3. The device will be installed in a few moments.
4. To verify the correct installation, open the “Computer
Management” window, select Device Manager and check that
“VIA OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller” is displayed
under “IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers” item.
Your new Hamlet FireWire card is now successfully installed and
ready to use.
