Caution: It is recommended that the assembly be performed by two persons.
Assembling the Patient Lifter
1. Remove the lifter base from the carton and place the lifter base on a flat, level and dry surface
(see Figure 2).
2. Place the stretcher holder onto the lifter base (see Figure 3).
3. Remove black plastic protective caps from lifter mast (see Figure 3).
4. Insert the bottom of the lifter mast and hydraulic pump assembly into the mast sleeve (through
the stretcher holder) on the lifter base (see Figures 2 & 3).
5. The notch on the end of the lifter mast fits over the round tube at the bottom of the mast
sleeve (see Figure 3).
6. Position and lock the lifter mast into the mast sleeve. When assembled correctly, the lifter
mast will not be able to rotate (see Figure 3).
7. Check that the lifter mast is locked into position, and that the hole in the lifter mast is aligned
with the threaded hole in the mast sleeve (see Figure 3).
8. Screw the knob into the threaded hole in the mast sleeve. Tighten to lock the lifter mast to the
lifter base (see Figure 3).
Note: Keep lifter mast and lifter base locked at all times, except when removing lifter mast from
the lifter base for storage.
9. Locate the NC 3/8 – 20 x 2½” hexagon head screw (see Figure 1, Fastener “I”).
10. Insert the hexagon head screw through the stretcher retaining strap eyelet hole. The screw
can be inserted through either side of the strap (see Figure 4).
11. Locate the self lock nut (see Figure 1, Fastener “V“).
12. Using the same hexagon head screw, assemble the lifter boom and the display support to the
lifter mast. Thread the screw through all three parts, and secure the screw with the self lock
nut (see Figure 4).
Note: Ensure that the lifter boom hooks are facing down during patient lifter assembly.
13. Locate the NC 3/8 – 20 x 1 ¾” hexagon head screw and self lock nut (see Figure 1, Fastener
“II” and “V”).
14. Insert the end of the hydraulic pump shaft into the lifter boom’s bracket, and align the
assembly holes (see Figure 4).
15. Thread the hexagon head screw through the lifter boom bracket and the hydraulic pump shaft
hole. Secure the screw with the self lock nut (see Figure 4).

2000KL ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS (CONTINUED)
17. To adjust the lifter base with casters, unlock the legs by pulling back on the adjustment lever.
Move the lever to the right in order to widen the base (see Figures 5 & 8).
18. A caster lock is provided on the lifter base to prevent movement. To lock caster, step on
caster lock lever on side of caster. To unlock, step on higher cam lever (see Figure 7).
Warning: Never lock caster lock or block casters when lifting a patient.
Note: Caster lock is provided for preventing mobility only.
19. To operate the hydraulic pump, pump the handle in an upward and downward motion to
elevate the lifter boom. Make certain the control valve knob (located on the hydraulic pump
near the handle) is fully tightened clockwise. This enables the hydraulic pump to be
operational (see Figure 6).
20. To lower the lifter boom, slowly turn the control valve knob counterclockwise. The rate of
descent can be controlled by varying the knob’s position. The lifter boom may not lower
readily without weight. To test, simply apply downward force to the lifter boom (see Figures 6
& 8).
Note: If screws, mounting pump, or lifter mast are too tight, the lifter boom may not lower
properly.
Assembling the Display Assembly
21. Position the display assembly close to the display support. Connect the load cell cable
connector to the load cell port on the rear of the display assembly (see Figures 2, 4 & 10).
22. Align the four mounting holes on the back of the display assembly with the four mounting
holes in the display support. Fasten the display assembly onto the metal display support by
using (4) Phillips pan head M4 screws (VIII). Use Phillips head screwdriver to tighten the
screws (see Figures 1 & 9).
23. Place the pivot bracket screw covers over the pivot screws. Fasten the covers to the back of
the display using (4) Phillips pan head M4 screws (VIII). Use Phillips head screwdriver to
tighten the screws (see Figures 1 & 9).
24. Connect the AC adapter to the power port in the display. Do not plug the scale into a power
source until the scale is fully assembled (see Figure 10).
Assembling the Stretcher
25. Hang the load cell beam assembly on the two hooks at the end of the lifter boom, using the
loops on top of the load cell beam assembly (see Figure 11).
26. Connect the end of the load cell beam cable coming out of the center of the load cell beam
assembly to its port on the side of the lifter boom (see Figures 11 & 12).
27. Connect the lock rings (IV) onto the two hooks at the end of the lifter boom, using a
screwdriver to tighten the set screws (see Figures 1 & 11).
28. Use the hexagon shoulder screws (III) to connect the fork joint to the load cell beam assembly
(see Figure 11).

10
2000KL ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS (CONTINUED)
29. Use the hexagon shoulder screws (III) to connect the two stretcher hoops to the load cell
beam assembly and securely tighten. Make sure that the stretcher hooks face each other in
the inward position, toward the stretcher canvas (see Figures 1 & 11).
30. Insert the stretcher bars into the stretcher channel pockets on either side of the stretcher
canvas. Confirm that the stretcher bars pass through the two hanging loops on each side of
the stretcher canvas.
31. Ensure that both ends of the channel pockets are sealed, by squeezing the Velcro strips
together (see Figure 11).
Note:The hanging loops are tethered to the stretcher fabric. Make certain that each stretcher
bar passes through the hanging loops. The other portion of the hanging loop will go over
the hooks of the stretcher hoops.

Tare Function
When using this scale, the weight of an object, such as the stretcher, can be subtracted from
the total weight in order to determine the weight of the patient alone. The Tare Function
automatically performs this subtraction. The 2000KL scales allow tare weight to be entered
manually by using the keypad, or automatically, as outlined in this section.
Tare
1. With all weight off the scale, press the ON/OFF button to turn on the scale.
2. Wait until the “0.0” LB or “0.0” KG appears on the display.
3. Hook the stretcher onto the scale. The display will show a value for the stretcher’s weight.
4. Press the TARE button. The scale will zero out, and the word “TARE” will appear at the
bottom center of the display, indicating that there is a tare value for the stretcher.
5. Remove the stretcher from the scale. Once the stretcher is removed from the scale, the
