INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
FK23 FAN KIT
WARNING!
Electrical Grounding Instructions:
This appliance is equipped with a three-prong (ground-
ing) plug for your protection against shock hazard and
should be plugged directly into a properly grounded three-
prong receptacle. Do not cut or remove the ground prong
from this plug.
This fan kit has been tested for use with specific Hearth & Home Techno ogies Inc. firep aces and is isted as a firep ace part. Check with
your oca bui ding code agency before you begin your insta ation to ensure comp iance with oca codes, inc uding the need for permits
and fo ow-up inspections. If you encounter prob ems regarding code approva s or if you wish c arification of any of the instructions
contained here, contact your oca distributor/dea er or the Technica Services Department, Hearth & Home Techno ogies Inc.,

Note: The fan motors do not require ubrication.
However, the b ades shou d be vacuumed and
c eaned as needed.
Note: The JK9 junction box must be insta ed
at the same time as the firep ace is insta ed.

FK23 Installation
1. Remove the ower gri e from the front face of the firep ace.
Depending on the firep ace mode , this can be removed by
pu ing it straight out, from both ends, or by swinging the gri e
down and re easing the hinges by pu ing them to the center.
See Figure 1 for gri e remova .
2. P ace the junction box shie d around the top and sides of the
dup ex out et. Secure it into position with screws. See Figure2.

3. Remove the backing on the hook and oop tape to expose the
adhesive. See Figure 3.

4. Ho ding the fan, p ace the air s ots into the firep ace first whi e
ho ding it up tight against the front opening. See Figure 4.
Rotate the fan so the air s ots point towards the back of the
firep ace. See Figure 5.

The fan shou d be positioned 3-4 from the front face of the
firep ace. See Figure 6.

5. Press down on the fan so the adhesive sticks secure y to the
bottom of the firep ace. See Figure 7.

6. P ug in the fan and rep ace the ower gri e (reversing Step 1).
