Henstock Technologies Demon Assembly instructions

Burns
domestic
heating oil or home kerosene.
Heats approx. 300 sq. m. of floor space
Heat output up to 160,000 B.T.U’s.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR ASSEMBLY AND
FIRING OF YOUR ‘DEMON’ HEATER
TO ASSEMBLE
Place lid on bowl, place foot of clamping rods
under rim of bowl and tighten nuts firmly.
Insert down draught cone through regulator
hole. Mount cast iron elbow by passing
through the hole in the top stack from the
inside. Fix with bolts and nuts provided making
sure that the flange on the casting is on the
inside.
Join the top stack to the bottom conical section
in such a position as will bring the slots in the
conical section over damper rod.
Fix diffusion plate in slots provided on top
stack.
Insert return tube into cast iron elbow.
Lift the assembled flue section onto lid so that
return tube fits into spigot on lid.
The completely assembled unit may now be
lifted onto stand.
FOR FIRING YOUR ‘DEMON’
Open the regulator and fill with the
recommended fuel to approximately 50mm
below the lower level of the filler opening.
Open damper blade to the vertical position and
secure it with the damper catch.
Dip lighting torch in a small amount of the fuel,
ignite, and place in the down draught cone so
that it is just touching the fuel. NOTE: Do not
extinguish torch in water or fuel contamination
may occur.
When the fuel ignites allow it to burn with the
regulator open until the flame is coming freely
from the top of the stack.
Close regulator and leave the three draught
holes to be fully opened. When the unit is
burning evenly gradually close the regulator to
achieve the desired heat output.
Your ‘DEMON’ should now burn quite evenly.
According to conditions prevailing in some
cases the regulator may be closed fully.
If when the regulator is fully closed, there is a
surge of flame from the top stack, or the unit is
too hot, place damper (provided with unit) over
top of stack. This will eliminate all surges and
reduce heat.
TO EXTINGUISH YOUR ‘DEMON’
Close regulator off fully at least 10 minutes
before extinguishing heater.
Close damper to horizontal position by
releasing damper catch. The spring loaded
action will close the damper tightly. If,
however, the damper has a heavy build up of
soot or carbon it may be necessary to close the
damper manually.
•Read operating instructions before
assembling and using your ‘DEMON
heater
•Fill your ‘DEMON’ before firing
•Close regulator 10 minutes before
extinguishing
•Clean the unit at least once a month.
Remove all soot and carbon from bowl, lid
and stack
•Never open damper or regulator while the
unit is hot
•Only use the recommended fuels
•Never use waste oil as a fuel. Waste oil
may contain other substances which could
cause a hazard.
•Never refill, move or relight the ‘DEMON’
while it is burning or hot. Unit must be cool
prior to refuelling or relighting. THIS IS
MOST IMPORTANT
•Never use the ‘DEMON’ near materials or
fluid which could cause a fire hazard
•SURFACES REMAIN HOT FOR SOME
TIME AFTER EXTINGUISHING THE
‘DEMON’
•NEVER PLACE ANY PART OF YOUR
BODY ABOVE THE FLUE
CAUTION
RETURN DAMAGED PARTS TO THE SUPPLIER
DO NOT MIX HEATING FUELS
USE ONLY DOMESTIC HEATING OIL OR HOME
