Cha ter 1 Configuration Pre aration
1.1 HTTP Configuration
Swi ch configura ion can be conduc ed no only hrough command lines and SNMP bu
also hrough Web browser. The swi ches suppor he HTTP configura ion, he abnormal
packe imeou configura ion, and so on.
1.1.1 Choosing the Prom t Language
Up o now, swi ches suppor wo languages, ha is, English and Chinese, and he wo
languages can be swi ched over hrough he following command.
Command Purpose

1.1.2 Logging into the Switch
1.1.2.1 Via Web Browser
1. Connec compu er o a swi ch console por wi h a serial cable.
2. Use a elne clien (e.g., PuTTY) o inser he required commands.
1) Log in via config mode.
2) Crea e a local accoun wi h he following creden ials.
- User Name: admin
- Password: admin
NOTE: For help, use he “?” command.

To access he swi ch via SSH, do he following.
1. Connec compu er o a swi ch console por wi h a serial cable.
2. Use a elne clien (e.g., PuTTY) and selec “SSH” op ion o inser he required
commands.
1) Log in via config mode.
2) Crea e a local accoun wi h he following creden ials.
- User Name: admin
- Password: admin
NOTE: For help, use he “?” command.
3) Config aaa au hen ica ion. Here we se an au hen ica ion me hod named
“Remo e,” and use local username o au hen ica e.
4) Se ssh au hen ica e by me hod we crea ed.
5) Se “enable” password, and ac iva e “enable” mode in SSH connec ion.

To access he swi ch using elne , do he following.

commands.

2) Crea e a local accoun wi h he following creden ials.
- User Name: admin
- Password: admin

3) Config aaa au hen ica ion. Here we se an au hen ica ion me hod named
“Remo e,” and use local user name o au hen ica e.
4) On he config line, se he elne login au h me hod o “Remo e.”
5) Se “enable” password, and ac iva e “enable” mode in he SSH connec ion.

6) Open he elne func ion.
1.1.3 Setting the HTTP Port
Generally, he HTTP por is por 80 by defaul , and users can access a swi ch by en ering
he IP address direc ly; however, swi ches also suppor users o change he service por
and af er he service por is changed you have o use he IP address and he changed por
o access swi ches. For example, if you se he IP address and he service por o
192.168.1.3 and 1234 respec ively, he HTTP access address should be changed o h p://
192.168.1.3:1234. You’d be er no use o her common pro ocols’ por s (such as f p-20,
elne -23, dns-53, snmp-161) so ha access collision should no happen. Because he
por s used by a lo of pro ocols are hard o remember, you’d be er use por IDs following
por 1024.

1.1.4 Enabling the HTTP service
Swi ches suppor o con rol he HTTP access. Only when he HTTP service is enabled can
HTTP exchange happen be ween swi ch and PC and, when he HTTP service is closed,
HTTP exchange s ops.

1.1.5 Setting the HTTP Access Mode
You can access a swi ch hrough wo access modes: HTTP access and HTTPS access, and
you can use he following command o se he access mode o HTTP.

1.1.6 Setting the Maximum Number of VLAN Entries
Dis layed on a Web Page
A swi ch suppor s a mos 4094 VLANs and in mos cases Web only displays par s of
VLANs, ha is, hose VLANs users wan o see. You can use he following command o se
he maximum number of VLANs. The defaul maximum number of VLANs is 100.

1.1.7 Setting the Maximum Number of Multicast Entries

en ries. The defaul maximum number of mul icas en ries is 15.

1.2 HTTPS Configuration
In order o improve he securi y of communica ions, swi ches suppor no only he HTTP
pro ocol bu also he HTTPS pro ocol. HTTPS is a securi y-purposed HTTP channel and i is
added o he SSL layer under HTTP.
1.2.1 Setting the HTTP Access Mode
You can run he following command o se he access mode o HTTPS.

1.2.2 Setting the HTTPS Port

Cha ter 2 Accessing the Switch through
HTTP
2.1 Accessing the Switch through HTTP
When accessing he swi ch hrough Web, please make sure ha he applied browser
complies wi h he following requiremen s:
HTML of version 4.0
HTTP of version 1.1
JavaScrip TM of version 1.5
Wha 's more, please ensure ha he main program file, running on a swi ch, suppor s
Web access and your compu er has already connec ed he ne work in which he swi ch is
loca ed.
2.1.1 Initially Accessing the Switch
When he swi ch is ini ially used, you can use he Web access wi hou any ex ra se ings:
S ep 1 Modify he IP address of he ne work adap er and subne mask of your compu er
o 192.168.0.2 and 255.255.255.0 respec ively.
S ep 2 Open he Web browser and en er 192.168.0.1 in he address bar. I is no ed ha
192.168.0.1 is he defaul managemen address of he swi ch.
S ep 3 If he In erne Explorer browser is used, you can see he dialog box as below. Bo h
he original username and he password are “admin”, which is capi al sensi ive.
S ep 4 Af er successful au hen ica ion, he sys ema ic informa ion abou he swi ch will
appear on he IE browser.

2.1.2 U grading to the Web-Su orted Version
If your swi ch is upgraded o he Web-suppor ed version during i s opera ion and he
swi ch has already s ored i s configura ion files, he Web visi canno be direc ly applied
on he swi ch. Perform he following s eps one by one o enable he Web visi on he
swi ch:
S ep 1 Connec he console por of he swi ch wi h he accessory cable, or elne o he
managemen address of he swi ch hrough he compu er.
S ep 2 En er he global configura ion mode of he swi ch hrough he command line, he
DOS promp of which is similar o “Swi ch_config#”.
S ep 3 If he managemen address of he swi ch is no configured, please crea e he VLAN
in erface and configure he IP address.
S ep 4 En er he commandip http server", o enable Web service.
S ep 5 En er heusername o se he user name and password of he swi ch For how o use
his command, refer o he “Securi y Configura ion” sec ion in he user manual.
S ep 6 Af er he above-men ioned s eps are performed, you can en er he address of he
swi ch in he Web browser o access he swi ch.
S ep 7 En er he command rite", o save he curren configura ion o he configura ion
file.
2.2 Accessing a Switch through Secure Links

The limi ed user can only browse he s a e of he device and canno modify he

Cha ter 3 Basic Configuration
3.1 Hostname Configuration
Click Basic Config -> Hostname in he naviga ion bar, he Hos name Configura ion page
appears, as shown in he following figure.
The hos name will be displayed in he login dialog box.
The defaul name of he device is “Swi ch”. You can en er he new hos name in he ex
box shown in figure 3 and hen click “Apply”.
3.2 Time Management
Click System Mgr. -> Time Setting, he Time Se ing page appears.
To refresh he clock of he displayed device, click “Refresh”.
In he “Selec Time-Zone” dropdown box selec he ime zone where he device is loca ed.
When you selec “Se Time Manually”, you can se he ime of he device manually. When
