Today,many peoplesufferfromheart, Lung,and otherrespiratorydiseases.Many ofthese peoplecan
benefitfromsupplementaloxygentherapy.Yourbody requires asteady supplyofoxygentofunction
properly.Yourphysician prescribed supplementaloxygenforyoubecauseyou arenotgetting enough
oxygenfromroomairalone .Supplementaloxygenwill increase the amountofoxygen thatyourbody
receives.
Supplementaloxygen isnotaddictive .Yourphysician prescribed aspecificoxygen flowtoimprove
symptomssuch as headaches,drowsiness,confusion,fatigue,orincreased irritability.If these symptoms
persist after you beginyour supplementaloxygen program, consult your physician.

Oxygen concentratorsarethe mostreliable,efficient, and convenientsource ofsupplementaloxygen
availabletoday,the oxygenconcentratoriselectricallyoperated.Theunitseparates oxygen fromroomair
which allowshigh-puritysupplementaloxygen tobe deliveredtoyouthroughthe oxygen outlet, although
the concentrator filterstheoxygeninaroom, itwill not affect the normalamount of oxygen inyour room.

shouldbe located so astoavoidpollutantsor fumes.

1. Beforeoperating yourunitalwayschecks tobe surethe airfilter(locatedonthebackofyourunit) is
clean.Propercleaning ofthisfilterisdiscussedintheCaringforYourConcentratorsection onpage

2. Attach the appropriateoxygen accessoriestothe oxygen outlet.

a. Attach the oxygen tubingdirectlytothe connector.(Figure3)

Remove the powercordcompletelyfromthe linecordstrap,Make surethe powerswitchisinthe
“Off”position,and insert the plug intothe walloutlet; the unitisdoubleinsulated toguardagainst
electricshock.

concentratoratLeast5feet(1.6m) fromhot, sparkingobjects ornakedsourcesof

1. Press the powerswitchtothe “On”position,when the unitisturnedon,the Powerlightwillilluminate,
and the patient alert system –Service Requiredlightand audiblesignal —willbrieflyalarm.
NOTE If the Service Requiredlight illuminates andthe audiblesignalalarmsbut the unit isnot operating,
thereisnopower tothe unit, Refer tothe Minor Troubleshootingchart not page 8andcontact your HINOR
provider if necessary.
NOTE If an audiblelow-frequency vibration soundisdetected,the unitisnotoperating properly.Referto
the Minor Troubleshootingchart on page8, and contact your HINORprovider if necessary.
2. Check the flowmetertomake surethatthe flowmeterballiscentered onthe line nexttothe prescribed
number of your flowrate.
CAUTION It isveryimportant tofollowyour oxygen prescription.Donot increase or decrease theflowof
oxygen-consult your physician.
NOTE YourHINORprovider may have preset the flowmeter so that it can not be adjusted.
NOTE If the flowmeterknob isturnedclockwise,the flowdecreases (andeventuallywillshutoff the
oxygenflow).If the knob isturned counterclockwise, the flowincreases.
RESERVE OXYGEN SYSTEM
Asaprecaution,yourHINORprovidermaysupplyyouwithareserveoxygen system. If yourunitloses
electricalpowerorfailstooperatecorrectly,the patientAlert Systemwill sound tosignalyoutoswitchto
your reserveoxygen system (if provided )and contact your HINORprovider.

WARNING
Beforeattemptingany cleaningprocedures, turnthe unit “off.”
Oxygen Humidifier (reusablebottles)
If yourphysicianhas prescribed humidification,clean yourhumidifierbottledaily.Followthe instructions
Supplied bythe manufacturer, If no cleaning instructions weresupplied, follow these steps
1. Wash the humidifier inasolution of hotwater anddishwashing detergent.
2.Soak the humidifierinasolutionofone part whitevinegartothree partshot waterfor30 minutes.This
solution actsas agermicidalagent.
3. Rinse thoroughlywithwarm tap water andrefillwithdistilled water for use. Donot overfill.
Cannula、Mask、and Tubing
Clean and replacethe cannula, mask, and tubingas instructedby yourHINORprovider.
Air FilterandOxygenOutlet Connector
The air filter andconnector shouldbe cleaned at least once aweek. Toclean, followthese steps:
1. Remove the air filter, located on the back of the unit .Remove the oxygenoutlet connector (if used).
2. Wash inasolutionof warm water anddishwashingdetergent.
3.Rinse thoroughlywithwarm tap waterand toweldry.The filtershouldbe completelydrybefore
reinstalling.
CAUTION Topreventproductdamage,do notattempttooperatethe unitwithoutthe airfilterorwhilethe
filter isstill damp.
ExteriorCabinet
WARNING
To avoidelectricshock, donot remove the concentrator cabinet. The cabinetshouldonlybe removed bya
qualifiedHINORtechnician.Donotapplyliquiddirectlytothe cabinetorutilize any petroleum-based
solventsor cleaningagents.
Clean theconcentratorexteriorcabinetby using adampclothorspongewithamildhouse-holdcleaner
and wipeit dry.
Periodic Maintenanceforyourunit
1.
Clean the airfilteratleastonce aweek.The stepsofcleaningsee the AirFilterand Oxygen Outlet
Connector.
2. Change thefelt of the Inlet Pre-Filter at least once half ayear. Followthose steps:
Open the ImportantSafeguardpullouttheInletPre-Filter, Pull outthe oldfeltsfromtheInletPre-Filter
twosides).Theninsert the newfeltstothe InletPre-Filtereach side,insert the InletPre-Filterand
closethe Important Safeguard.
3.Change the BacterialFilteratleastonceayear. You can notchangethisby yourself, you mustcontact
your HINORMedicalprovider change thisfor you.

The POCA06-10LDevice isadevice withinyourconcentratorthatmonitorsthe oxygen produced byyour
unit. Whenthe unitsisturned “ON,”allfourlight(Power, LowOxygen,NormalOxygen,andService
Required)on the frontpanelwill illuminatebriefly.Afterafewseconds,onlythe PowerandNormal
Oxygen lightswillremainlit.
The lightson the front panelaredefinedas follows:
Green NormalOxygen light-acceptableoxygen level.(The LEDwill display “NormalOxygen”)
YellowLowOxygen light-belowan acceptableoxygen level.(The LEDwilldisplay “LowOxygen”)
If the oxygen purityfallsbelowthe acceptablelevel,the green NormalOxygen lightwill shutoff andthe
yellowLowOxygen lightwill illuminate.Switchtoyourreserve oxygen system. Refertothe
Troubleshooting section inthisguide on page 8and contact yourHINORprovider.
Asan addedsafetyfeatureshouldthe oxygen puritycontinue todrop,an intermittentaudiblesignalwill
sound. Contact your HINORproviderimmediately.Donot attempt anyothermaintenance.
