Vacuum Compartment SL
ڪϕຣ SL
Vacuum compartment is evolving further with [Sleep-preservation] mode,
keeping food fresh and retaining nutrition by way of vacuum seal.
1. Hitachi proprietary vacuum preservation system
Uses a vacuum pump to create a vacuum state in the compartment, thereby
lowering an oxygen level.
Oxidation and change in color of foods are restricted more by making use of
difference in air pressure caused by a vacuum pump.
2. Preserve foods as if they sleep due to the
photocatalyst effect [Sleep-preservation]
Concentration of carbon dioxide is increased due to the photocatalyst effect, which
restricts vegetable breathing and activities of the enzymes on the surface of meat
or fish, so as to keep them fresh.
Photocatalyst also has a deodorization effect. An LED light illuminates inside the
compartment for a better view.
3. [Auto] mode provides fuss-free food preservation.
It switches the temperature automatically to Chiller mode for storing vegetables
while to Subzero mode for storing meat and fish only with the carbon dioxide sensor.
It detects the volume of foods automatically, accelerating the cooling function as
necessary. It can cool down a lot of foods purchased in bulk steadily and quickly.

1. Frost Recycle Cooling
●Utilizes frost efficiently to cool down the inside of the
refrigerator without using a compressor, thereby achieving
more energy saving than the conventional method.
In the past, the frost adhered to the radiator during operation was melted
by a heater and discharged as it lowers the cooling effect.
Frost Recycle Cooling utilizes the coldness of frost. The compressor operation is
stopped and Refrigerator Compartment /Vegetable Compartment are cooled by
utilizing the coldness of frost.
●Each compartment being independently cooled effectively
A flap that controls the flow of cooled air is provided in each of Refrigerator, Freezer and
Vegetable Compartments to control temperature of each compartment independently.
●Water in frost prevents desiccation (in Refrigerator and
Vegetable Compartments).
In addition to the coldness of frost, the moisture of frost on the radiator prevents the
food from drying out.
2. Energy saving mode
To save energy more actively, the energy saving mode
increases the temperature setting for each compartment and
reduces the number of revolutions of the compressor.
In the energy saving mode, the cooling capacity is reduced. You may
feel that cooling is not enough, for example, ice-cream becomes soft.

●When opening a refrigerator door for a long time (30 seconds
or more), LED lights in both refrigerator and vacuum
compartments are turned down for energy saving.

Bacterial eradication rate is 99% after 24 hours. This shows stand-alone performance
of the filter. It won’t have an effect on the entire compartment or foods.

The so-called “vacuum” refers to a state in which pressure is lower than the atmospheric pressure. Since the Vacuum Compartment has pressure of about 0.8
atm, which is lower than the atmospheric pressure, we call it “vacuum”.
