INSTALLATION
When
installing
the
FT-5500
choose
a
place
that
satisfies
the
following
conditions:
1.
Install
it
in
a
place
out
of
direct
sunlight
and
away
from
stoves,
etc.
2.
install
it
in
a
place
where
ventilation
is
good
and
which
is
free
from
moisture
and
dust.
3.
Install
the
tuner
on
a
stable
and
vibration-free
surface.

condition
computer
system
(FCCS)
technique
The
microcomputer
first
conducts
a
search
to
see
if
there
are
any
broadcasting
stations
generating
in-
terference
with
the
desired
station.
If
there
is
no
interference,
it
switches
to
high-sensitivity
reception;
if
there
is
some
interference,
the
selectivity
of
the
RF
or
IF
stage
is
automatically
enhanced
and
reception
permitted
with
reduced
interference.
In
short,
this
unit
features
a
optimum
reception
system
which
in
HITACHI's
language
is
known
as
a
field
condition
computer
system.
Moreover,
the
results
of
the
com-
puter
search
are
automatically
preset
and
memorized
for
instant
recall
of
the
optimum
reception
mode
at
any
time.
2.
The
AM/FM
tuning
circuits
adopt
a
digital
synthesizer
system
which
is
based
on
a
crystal
oscillator
and
a
PLL
(Phase-Locked-Loop)
in
order
to
keep
the
deviations
in
the
local
oscillation
frequency
down
to
the
accuracy
of
the
crystal
oscillator.
The
adoption
of
a
microcomputer
for
the
tuning
control
permits
automatic
tuning
from
87.9

to
107.9

for

designed

the
beat

noise
generated
during
FM
stereo
reception

interference

stereo
separation.

the
field

system
is
operating,
the
signal
strength
meter
switches
over
to
display
the
frequency
so
that
the
computer
search

be
indicated
in
visual
form
and
the
computer
search
movement
is
shown
by
an
LED
pointer.

High
sensitivity
with
large-sized
loop
antenna
Stations
come
in
loud
and
clear
thanks
to
the
new
AM
RF
circuit
and
large-sized
loop
antenna
with
the
high
gain
that
is
immune
from
noise
and
interference.
The
loop
antenna
can
be
detached
from
the
unit
and
installed
in
a
position
which
yields
optimum
reception.

Keyboard

with
preset
indicators
The
fingertip
controlled
keyboard
switches
come
with
preset
indicators.
These
light
up
to
indicate
which
preset
station

through

is
being
tuned
in
during
preset
tuning.

type

ceramic
filter
Another
prime
feature
of
this
unit
is
the
4-element
ladder
type
of
AM
ceramic
filter
that
gives
you
fun
with
AM
reception

annoying
interference

noise

sound
quality.

a
convenient
memory
back-up
system
for
protecting

contents

broadcasts
are
characterized
best
by
their
good
sound
quality.
To
enjoy
sound
with
a
good
quality,
it
is
important
to
pick
up
the
signals
reliably.
Just
like
TV
signals,
FM
broadcast
signals
use
ultra-short
waves
and
they
are
beamed
directly,
rather
like
light.
This
means
that
the
signal
strength
will
weaken
in
mountainous
areas
and
between
high
buildings.
Choose
the
proper
antenna
in
accordance
with
the
strength
of
the
signals
in
your
area.
Using
the
accessory
FM
feeder
antenna
The
feeder
antenna
will
sufficiently
serve
for
reception
when
the
unit
is
located
nearly
the
transmitting
antenna
where
the
signals
are
strong.
Connect
the
accessory
feeder
anten-
na
through
the
accessory

to
the
rear

Using
an
outdoor
FM
antenna
If
you
live
far
away
from
the
transmitting
anten-
na
or
in
an
area
where
the
signals
are
weakened
by
obstacles
in
their
path,
such
as
steel-framed
buildings
and
other
structures,
erect
an
out-
door
FM
antenna.
The
reception
will
vary
ac-
cording
to
the
height,
direction
and
location
of
the
outdoor
antenna
and
so
move
the
antenna
and
find
the
optimum
position.
When
using
the
outdoor
FM
antenna
and
the
75-ohm
coaxial
cable
to
connect
it
to
the
tuner,
the
connection
method
differs
according
to
the
type
of
coaxial
cable
(3C-2V
or
5C-2V)
and
so
connect
as

dient
zur
Verringerung
der
Ein-
wirkungen
der
vom
Verstarker
erzeugten
Warme
auf
das
Gerat.
Wenn
der
Verstarker
in
das
Audio-Rack
eingebaut
werden
soll,
sicherstellen,
dal&é
genugend
Raum
freigelassen
wird

damit
die
vom
Verstarker
entwickelte
Warme
wirksam
abgeleitet
werden
kann.
Dadurch
werden
die
Einwirkungen
