2.1Preface
ThankyouforselectingtheZIPrehabbuggy.Wehavedesignedthishigh-qualityproducttomakeyourlifesaferandeasier,
andwe’veincludedthismanualtohelpyouuseandcareforit.Pleasereadthefollowinginstructionstomakesureyou
usethisproductasrecommended.Ifyouhaveanyfurtherquestions,orifyouhaveanyproblems,pleasecontactyour
healthcareprovider.
WehopethatZIPmeetsyourexpectations.Wereservetechnicalmodicationsregardingthespeciedmodelinthis
manual.Beforeusingtherehabbuggythersttime,thismanualhastobereadandunderstoodbypatientandsupport
personnelinodertoensureasafehandlingwiththerehabbuggy.
2.2Application
Rehabbuggy,paediatricposturalpositioningsystemsorstrollersareappropriateforchildernandadolescentswhoare
unabletowalkorwhohaveawalkingimpedimentandthusrequiringmobilityassistance.

•Lossoflimbs(dysmelia/lowerlimbamputation)
•Limbdefectand/ordeformity
The ZIPrehabbuggyisabletobeusedindoorandoutdooraswellasforfurtherservice.Forfurtherservicetheproduct
hastobecleanedandsanitisedefciently.Afterwardstheproducthastobecheckedconcerningcondition,wearoutand
damagebyanauthorisedtechnician.Alldamagedandinapropptiatepartsneedtobechanged.

2.3DeclarationofConformity
The HOGGIGmbHasmanufacturerwithsoleresponsibilitydeclaresthattherehabbuggyZIPconformstothe
requirementsofthe93/42/EECGuidelines(consideringalsothemodicationsofMDD2007/47/EG).
Applicableharmonizedstandardshavebeenapplied.

HOGGIpointsout,thatanyusebesidethetypicalusecanbedangerous.Therehab
buggyisnotsuitableforjogging,running,skatingorsimilaractivities.Swivellingfront
wheelstendtowobbleathigherspeed,whichcancauseasuddenstopandtipover
ofthebuggy.
Usethebuggyonlyatregularwalkingspeed.Undernocircumstancesleavethe
handlebarwhilepushingandneverpushthechairaway.

Thebuggyshouldonlybeusedonsolidlevelground.
Useyourbuggyasintendedbythemanufacturer.Forinstance,donotdriveinto
obstacles(includingsteps,curbs)withoutbraking.
Toclearobstaclessuchasstepsandcurbs,tiltthebuggyontotherearwheels
(pullitbackwardstogoup;todescend,slowlyloweritforward).
Donotgoupordownstairswithouttheassistanceofanotherperson.Ifdevices
suchasrampsorelevatorsareavailable,pleaseusethem.Iftheyarenotavailable,
thenthebuggyshouldbecarriedovertheobstaclebytwopersons.
Payparticularattentionwhenonslopesandinclinestoprevent:
-thechildfromfallingoutofthebuggy
-thebuggyfromtippingover
-thebuggyfromrollingaway
Onlyliftthebuggybypartsthataresolidlyattached:
-frontframetubeabovethefrontwheels
-frontaxle
-pushhandle
Ifyouhavetoparkonaslope,facethebuggyuphillwiththebrakesengagedand
ensurethattheseatisintheuprightposition.
Thereisariskthatthebuggymighttipoverbackwardsiftheseatisthereclined
position.
Beforeleavingthebuggyandbeforegettingintoandoutofit,alwayslockthewheel
locks.
Whenyourchildreachesforobjectsinfront,tothesideorbehindthebuggy,be
surethathe/shedoesnotleanoutofthebuggytoofarsincetheshiftinthecenterof
gravitymightcausethebuggytotiltortipover.
Thehandlingofthebuggyisstronglyinuencedbytyrepressure.Correctlyinate
tyresconsiderablyimproveitsmaneuverability.
Theairpressureshouldbeatleast2bar(200kParesp.29PSI).

Pleasekeeppackagingmaterialawayfromchildren.Plasticpackaging
presentsthedangerofsuffocation.
Neverleaveyourchildunattendedinthebuggyevenwhentheyarestrappedinand
thebrakesengaged.
Inthedark,theusershouldwearlightclothingorclothingwithreectorsinorderto
improvevisibility.Ensurethatthereectorsifinstalledareeasilyvisible.
Wealsorecommendinstallingactiveillumination.
Beforeusingthebuggy,bothfoldingguardsandtheseatmustbermlylockedin
place.
Staticstabilityisat>15°inclination.
Attachingheavybagsorotherweighttothepushhandlescanadverselyaffectstability.
Caution!
Regardspeciallyduringadjustingtherecline,thetiltinspacefunctionandthe
footresthangeranglethedangerofgettingcaughtforthechildbyprotrudingarmsor
legsintoexiblepartsoftheZIP.
Don´tusethefootresttogetintoandoutofthebuggygenerally.
Usethefootrestwithshoesonly.
Therehabbuggyisonlyintendedtocarryonechildatatime.
Disposalofwaste:Thepackagingmaterialasfarasmetal,aluminiumandplastic
partscanberecycled.Therecyclingmustbeoperatedaccordingtothenationaland
legalterms.
Pleasebeawarethatwithcertainfootrestsettingsthefootrestcancollidewith
thecasterwheels.

Forstorageinthefoldedsituationdon`tchargethebaseframe(ifthetiedownkitis
mounted).
Accessoriesandadd-onsreducethemaximumloadproportionately.
Werecommendthat,whereverandwheneverpossibleuserstransfertotheseats
installedinthemotorvehicleandusethecorrespondingvehiclerestraintsystems,
becausethisistheonlywaytoensureoptimumprotectionofthepassengersincase
ofanaccident.
YourZIPrehabbuggywassuccessfullytestedinaccordancewith
ANSI/RESNAWC/19andISO7176/19(Crashtest).
Itis,however,possibletouseyourZIPrehabbuggyasaseatinamotorvehicle,if
our“TiedownKit”(article3231-7300)aswellasappropriaterestraintsystemsare
used.YourZIPisadmittedforuseasaseatinamotorvehicleyet.
Thisrehabbuggyisequippedwithbackangleandseattiltadjustment.Turnthe
toggleleveronthebackrestandletengagethebackrestintherstposition.Using
theseattiltadjustmentyoumustbringthebackrestintoalmostuprightposition(max.
20°).Observethespecicationsunder5.9and5.17inthisusermanual.
Caution!
Excessstrapendsonaccessoriesmaybetrappedinthetiltmechanismandcan
avoidtheengagementofthelockingpins.Insuchacasetheseatcouldfalloff
themobilitybase.
Shortenexcessstrapendsonaccessoriessothattheycannotbetrapped.
Checkbypullingtheseatsharplyforwardthattheseatunitisproperlyengaged.
Checkthatthelockingpinsarecompletelyengaged.Pushincompletely,ifnecessary.
Caution!
AllupholsteriesarehardlyinammableandmeettheclaimEN1021part1
(cigarettetest)andpart2(matchtest).Butthatdoesn`tprotecttheuserintheseat
unittosufferburningsbycarelesshandlingwithblazeoropenre.

Theassemblyofaseatshellisonlypermittedwithinthespeciedseatingarea.
Themanufacturerofthatnewproductcombinationhastotestthestabilityandthe
adherenceofthemaximumloadbeforecommissioning.
Pleasereadtovisuallyhandicappedpeoplethemanualandinfomaterial-oruse

www.hoggi.de.Inaddition,productvideosandproductphotogalleriesareavailable
online!
WheneveryouchangeanysettingsontheZIP,makesurethatyourmlytightenany
screwsthathavebeenloosened.
Checktheconditionoftheproductifthepackagingshowsdamages.
Becarefulincaseofextremetemperatures.Therehabbuggycanheatup
signicantlywheninthesunorinthesauna.Inextremecold,thereisariskof
hypothermia.Forpersonswithinsensitiveskin(iepersonswhocannotperceive
atemperatureincrease)and/orwithskindamage,caremustbetakenthatmetal
partsdonotreachtoohighatemperature.Inthesecases,itisimperativetowear
appropriategarmentstoprotecttheskin.
The HOGGIseatcushion(TreviraCS)aswellastheHOGGInylonbackrestand
seatcoverareameresistantreferredtotheEN1021-1andEN1021-2norm.When
usingothercushionsandbackcushions,astheoriginalsuppliedbyHOGGIorused
inadditionpadding,theameretardanteffectisnotgiven.
Alwaysmakesurethatthequick-releasefastenerontherearwheelengagescorrectly.
Neitherthemaximumseatdepthnorthemaximumbackheightmustbeexceeded
(seechapter9).

4 Delivery and Preparing for Use
Theoriginalpackagecontainsthefollowingcomponents:
•RehabBuggy,folded

Carefullyremovethetransportsafetyitemsandpackagingmaterial.
•Pressthepushhandlesbackwarduntilthefoldingguardsengage.
•Checkbothfoldingguardsandengagethemifnecessary.
TounfoldtheRehabBuggypleaseproceedasfollows:
•Liftthebuggyusingtheblackhandlegripsonthepushhandlesand
unfoldituntilyoucansetitonitswheels.
Caution!
Neverholdontoanythingelsethanthedescribed
movableparts,especiallythescissorsmechanism!
Crushinginjurymayoccur!

•Pushdownonthefoldingleveronthebackrestuntildetentlug.
•Pullthereleasecableasshowntowardstheedgeofthefootrestin
ordertomakelockpinsmovetowardstheinside.
•Swingthefootresttothedesiredangleandletthelockpinssnapin
place.
IfyourRehabBuggyisequippedwiththe„footboardassembly
straight“proceedasfollows:
•Movethefootboardintotheinside.
•Theillustrationshowstheunfoldedfootrest.

5 Adjusting and Adaptation Possibilities
5.1Wheellock
Toputthewheellockonpushthewheellockleverdownwardsand
rollthebuggyslightlybackorforward,sothatthelockpinscan
engageinthebrakedisc.Neveruseforce!Thiscoulddamagethe
quickreleasesandthewheelscouldfalloffandcauseinjuries.The
wheellockshouldnotbeactuatedwhilethepushchairismoving!
ForinterfoldingtheRehabBuggyrepeattheprocedureinreversed
order.
•Movethefootboarddown.
•Makesurethatthefootboardislocked.
•Theillustrationshowstheunfoldedfootrest.

•Inthecaseofdissimilarlowerleglengthitisessentialtoremove
screwjoint(A).

•Tightenstarhandlesafterwards.
5.2Recline
•Afterslightopeningofthestarhandlesonbothsidesthebackrestcan
beadjustedtodesiredangle.
5.3Lowerleglength
•Afterlooseninghexagonsocketheadcapscrewonbothclamping
devicesthefootrestcanbeadjustedinheight.Makesurethatthe
footrestisonthesamelevelonbothsidesbeforetighteningthe
hexagonsocketheadcapscrew.
•Todisengagethewheellockpullthewheellockleverupwardswith
yourtoe.
Wheneveryouchangeanysettingsonthe
ZIPRehabBuggymakesurethatyourmly
tightenanyscrewsthathavebeenloosened.

•Themaximumlowerleglengthadjustmentof39cmcanonlybe
reachedwiththedepictedmountingoftheclampingdevice.
•Beforemovingtheclampingdevicesmovetheclampingdevicepast
thescrewjoint.Thescrewjointmustbeafxedafterwards.
•Ifthelowerleglengthadjustmentisblockedbyscrewjoint(A)the
clampingdevicecanbedismountedandremountedtheotherway
around.
•Forthatpurposetheentirefootrestmustbedrawnofffromthefootrest
adapter.Therightclampingdevicemustbeexchangedwiththeleft
clampingdevice.
•Theminimumlowerleglengthadjustmentof20cmcanonlybe
reachedwiththedepictedmountingalternativeandislimitedduetoa
detentlug.
Wheneveryouchangeanysettingsonthe
ZIPRehabBuggymakesurethatyourmly
tightenanyscrewsthathavebeenloosened.
Iftheclampingdeviceisushwiththetubeend,
maximumlowerleglengthadjustmentisreached.

6Accessories
Allaccessorieswhicharenotinstalledbythemanufacturermustbeinstalledbytrainedtechnicians.
Thefollowingnotesoninstallationareforyourinformationbutshouldbeperformedbytrainedtechnicians.
Allaccessoriesindicatedwith(*)hastoberemovedbeforefoldingtheRehab-Buggy.
Strapsonaccessoriesareusuallyextralongtoaccommodateeveryoption.Excessstrapends
onaccessoriesmaybetrappedbyinterfoldingtheRehabBuggy.Shortenexcessstrapendson
accessoriessothattheycannotbetrapped.Topreventstrapendsfromfrayingthecutendscanbe
meltedtogetherwithaame.(eg.cigarettelighter)
5.6Detachingwheelswithquickrelease
Inordertoachieveamostcompactfoldingpackagetherearwheels
ofallmodelsaredetachablebyquickreleasehubs.Todetachpress
thequickreleasespringtowardsthemiddleofthewheelandpullthe
wheelfromtheaxle.
Toattachthewheelpushitontotheaxleuntilthequickrelease
engagesautomatically.Ensurethatthewheelissecurelyheldonto
theaxlebypullingthewheelwithoutoperatingthequickrelease.
5.7Pneumatictyres(option)
•Allwheelsareequippedwithpneumatictyres.Maintainproper
pressureatalltimes.Noticetheairpressureindicatedonthe
tyre.
5.5 Seat depth
•Afterlooseningandremovingthescrewjointsoftheseatcoverand
theseatrailstheseatcanbemountedintwodifferentseatdepthsby
anyauthorizeddealer.
5.4 Footrest angle adjustment
•Pullthereleasebelttowardstheedgeofthefootrestinordertomove
thelockpinstowardstheinside.
•Swingthefootresttothedesiredangleandletthelockpinssnapin
place.
•Sincetheclampingdevicecanbeturnedaroundthesnapinpositions
areavailabletwice.
Wheneveryouchangeanysettingsonthe
ZIPRehabBuggymakesurethatyourmly
tightenanyscrewsthathavebeenloosened.

6.3Tiedownkit
•YourZIPRehabBuggyhasbeentestedsuccessfully(Crashtest).
Usingourtiedownkit(article3210-7300)andtheapplicationof
adequaterestraintsystemsyourZIPRehabBuggyisapprovedforthe
applicationinvansfordisabled.
Fortransportationthetiedownbeltwillbeattachedtotheoorpan
andtherestraintsystem(lapbelt,three-pointbelt)willbeafxedto
thechild(alsoseechapter8Tr an sp or t).
6.1Swivellock
•Theswivellockismountedbythemanufactureroranauthorized
dealer.
•Tolocktheswivellockturnthelockpinby90°andletitengageinthe
designatedholeinthecastorfork.
•Toopentheswivellockpullthelockpin,turnitby90°sothatitstays
inthedisengagedposition.
•Afterlooseningtheclampingscrewthetrackcanbeadjustedwith
engagedswivellock.
Adjustments:
Theattendantbrakesetispreadjusted.Nevertheless,ifadjustments
becomenecessaryjustafterinstallationorafteraperiodofusethere
arethefollowingoption:
Attheexitofeachbrakehousingacrankedsetscrewleadsthe
brakecableawayfromthetireoftherearwheel.Afterlooseningthe
counternutthepretensionoftheindividual(leftorright)brakecan
beadjusted.
Tightenthecounternutrmlyagainandensurethatthecrankofthe
setscrewshowstowardstherearframeawayfromthetire.
6.2Attendantbrake
•TheZIPRehabBuggycanbettedwithanattendantbrake.The
brakemechanismcanbeoperatedwithtwoindependentbrakelever.
Theattendantbrakeisdesignedtobeabrakeandnot
awheellockforparking.Forparkingtheoriginal
wheellockremainsinfunction.

•Thenthreadthebeltendsonceagainthroughthetriglides.
6.5 Foldable seat upholstery
•Thefoldableseatupholsterywillbeattachedtothenyloncoverofthe
seatwithVelcrofasteners,justlikethebackrestupholstery.
6.4Foldablebackrestupholstery
•YourZIPRehabBuggycanbeequippedwithanfoldablebackrest
upholsteryandafoldableseatupholsteryrespectively.
•Bothcushionsarecompatiblewithave-pointharness
•Inordertoattachthebackrestupholsterylaythecushionontothe
nyloncoverofthebackrestandsecurethebackrestupholsterywith
theVelcrofastenersonthetopandbottomedgeofthenyloncover.
6.6 Lap belt
•Oneachendofthelapbeltyoucanndpremountedtriglideswhich
arepassedbythebeltonlyonce.Thelengthofthefreebeltends
determinethelengthofthecompletelapbelt.Passthefreebeltends
throughthedesignatedslotsinthelowerpartofthebackbase.

•Pressthekeysofthelengthadjustersandpullthestrapoutsothat
approx5cm(2inches)ofthestrapendremains.
•Createwideloopswhichallowtomovethearmsofyourchildoutof
theharnesseasily.
•Liftyourchildoutoftheseat.
•Thereareseveralholesontheseatcoveringinvariousdepths.Fixthe
buckleattheendofthe(middle)-beltinthedesiredposition.Startthe
mountingbelowwiththelensheadscrewM5x14,andxitabovewith
awasherandtheselfsecuringM5capnut.Thepositionshouldbe
closesttothebodybutnotunderthebottom.
•Theendsoftheve-pointlapbeltaremountedasdescribedin6.6lap
beltandthelengthisroughlyinitialized.
Totakethevepointharnessoffproceedasfollows:
•Presstheredkeyonthebuckle.
•Openthelapbeltbypushingtheredkeyonthebuckle.Thelapbelt
canbeadjustedbypullingthebeltendnexttothebuckle.
6.7Five-pointharness
Preparation/Installation:
•Thereareseveralholesindifferentheightsonthebackcovering.
Fixthebuckleasshownusingtheblackplasticwashersandself
securingnutsatthedesiredheightonthebackcovering.
Thebackrestupholsterycanbepushedoverthe
beltendsandattachedwithVelcrofasteners.The
seatcushioncanbemountedtotheseatwithVelcro
fastenersandthebeltofthebeltbucklecanberun
throughtheopeningintheseatcushion.

•Openthegrabrailbypressingthereleasebuttonsandpullingtherail
allthewayout.
Thecovercanberemovedafteropeningthezipper.
Toputthevepointharnessonproceedasfollows:
•Placeyourchildintotheseat.
•Puttheelbowofyourchildthroughoneoftheshoulderstraploops
rstandthentheforearmandhand.
•Proceedwiththeotherarmthesameway.
•Putthebucklemembersoneaftereachotherintothebuckle.
•Tightenshoulderandlapstrapsbypullingthestrapendscomingout
ofthelengthadjuster.
6.8Anklehugger
•Anklehuggersallowacomfortablexationofthefootjoints.Theyare
xedtoanchorsonthefootplate.Theheelshouldbeplacedagainst
theheelplateofthefootrest.Thebeltsareopened/closedand
adjustedwithvelcrostraps.
6.9Graprailwithupholstery
•PushtheGrabrailasdepictedintotheadapterattheendoftheseat
rail.Whileyoudoitkeepsqueezingthespringbuttons.
•Thegrabrailisbentandthereforeitcanbeinsertedtowardsthechild
orawayfromit.

6.13Canopywithraincover
Deliveryandpreparingforuse:
