STEERING AND HORN
TILT/REACH STEERING
Move the lock lever downwards to adjust
the height and reach of the steering
wheel.
Push the lock lever upwards to set the
adjustment, ensuring the lever clicks
into position.
Before driving, jiggle the steering wheel to
ensure it has locked securely.
WARNING
Do not attempt to adjust the steering
wheel while driving.
HORN
The horn is activated by pressing the
jsymbol in the centre of the steering
wheel.

IGNITION SWITCH
Ignition
0LOCK: Ignition off and steering locked
(when the key is removed).
1OFF: Steering unlocked, ignition off.
2ON: Ignition on.
Diesel engine preheat3.
3START: Start the engine.
Release the steering column lock
To release the lock, move the steering
wheel slightly and turn the key to
position 1.
Lock the steering column
Withdraw the key in position 0.
Note On automatic models the shift lever must be in Pto withdraw the key.
WARNING
Do not turn the engine off while the vehicle is moving. Power assisted equipment
(such as brakes or steering) which are operated by the engine will be ineffective.
•Vehicles with a manual transmission: never remove the key while the vehicle
is moving, as this will lock the steering wheel.
•Vehicles with an automatic transmission have a lock which prevents the key
from being removed while driving. Refer to Safety in chapter 4.

INSTRUMENTATION
GAUGES
Speedometer
The speedometer indicates vehicle speed in kilometres per hour (km/h).
Tachometer
The tachometer indicates engine speed in revolutions per minute (rpm).
Odometer/tripmeter
The small window in the instrument cluster is used for the odometer, clock3 and
tripmeter. When the ignition is off, briey press the reset knob to display the odometer
and the tripmeter.
The odometer records kilometres travelled since the vehicle was built.
The tripmeter records kilometres travelled on a particular trip. To reset the tripmeter to
zero, press and hold the reset knob when the ignition is on.
Fuel gauge
Add fuel to the fuel tank before the tank
reaches empty (when the pointer moves
to the far left) or when the fuel light
illuminates.
If the fuel light ashes, add fuel to the
tank immediately. Refer to Fuel lling in
chapter 5.
Note Never let the tank become empty;
this can cause damage to the catalytic
converter.
Diesel engines: if run dry, the fuel system
must be bled. Refer to Diesel fuel system
bleeding in chapter 6.
Refer to Specications in chapter 8, for
fuel tank capacity.
Temperature warning
The engine cooling warning light is used to indicate an over temperature condition.

Service reminder
When InSP appears in the trip odometer
display with the ignition switched on, the
vehicle is due for service. Have service
work performed within a week or 500 km.
Contact your Holden Dealer.
WhenInSP2appearsinthetripodometer
display with the ignition switched on,
this indicates that an exterior lamp bulb
has failed. Refer to Bulb replacement
in chapter 6.
When InSP3 appears in the trip odometer
display with the ignition switched on, this
indicates the battery in the key remote
control has low voltage. Refer to Keys in
chapter 2.
Note On vehicles with check control3a
message is shown on the display instead
of InSP2 and InSP3.
When InSP4 appears in the trip odometer
display with the ignition switched on,
the diesel fuel lter3 requires draining.
Contact your Holden Dealer.
Transmission display3
Display of the selected gear position with
automatic transmission3:
P Park position of automatic
transmission.
R Reverse gear.
NNeutral or idling position.
DAutomatic mode of 4 & 6 speed
automatic transmission.

WARNING/REMINDER INDICATIONS
Battery
Illuminates when the ignition is switched on and extinguishes when the engine
is started and engine speed is increased above idle speed.
If the light illuminates when driving, the battery is not being charged. Engine
cooling may also be affected. With diesel engines the brake servo unit may stop
operating. Consult a Holden Dealer as soon as possible.
Brakes, hydraulic clutch
Illuminates for a few seconds when the ignition is switched on and extinguishes
after a few seconds unless the park brake is applied or the brake/clutch uid
levels are low.
If the light illuminates when driving and the park brake is not applied, stop the
vehicle as soon as possible and consult a Holden Dealer.
Check engine
This vehicle is tted with an electronic engine management system. The check
engine light indicates when system service is required. The light illuminates
when the ignition is switched on and extinguishes shortly after the engine starts
to run.
If the light illuminates when driving, the engine management system may
require servicing. Even though the vehicle may still be driveable and not require
towing, consult the nearest Holden Dealer as soon as possible. Continued
driving could affect fuel consumption, engine performance or may damage the
catalytic converter.
However, if the light ashes and the engine will not start, switch the ignition off
for at least 2 seconds before attempting to start the engine again.
In diesel vehicles3illumination of Atogether with InSP4 in the service display
indicates water in the fuel lter. Refer to Fuel lling in chapter 5.
Emissions
This vehicle is tted with an emission monitoring system.
The light illuminates when the ignition is switched on and extinguishes shortly
after the engine starts to run.
If the light illuminates when driving, the emission system may require servicing.
Although the vehicle may still be drivable and not require towing, consult the
nearest Holden Dealer as soon as possible.
However, if the light ashes while driving, reduce speed until the light stops
ashing and take the vehicle to a Holden Dealer as soon as possible.
Engine cooling
Ifitilluminates whendriving,a fault hasoccurred in theenginecooling systemor
the air conditioning system. The coolant level should be checked immediately.
Refer to Engine overheating in chapter 6. If the coolant level is normal, consult
your nearest Holden Dealer.
WARNING
Do not remove the cooling system cap if the engine and radiator are still hot.

Engine oil pressure
Illuminates when the ignition is switched on and extinguishes after the engine
is started. It can light up intermittently when idling if the engine is hot, but must
extinguish when engine speed is increased.
If the light illuminates during driving, stop the vehicle immediately and switch off
the engine. Check the engine oil level. Do not drive with this light illuminated. If
the oil level is normal, consult your nearest Holden Dealer.
Engine oil level3
Illuminates when the engine oil level is to low, check the oil level and top up if
necessary. Refer to Engine oil level check in chapter 7.
ABS: anti-lock brake system
Illuminates for a few seconds when the ignition is switched on. If it does not
extinguish or if it illuminates when driving, there is a defect in the Anti-lock
Brake System (ABS). The brake system remains operational but without ABS
assistance. Refer to Anti-lock brake system in chapter 4. Consult your Holden
Dealer as soon as possible.
High beam
Illuminates when the headlight high beams are in use or ashed.
Parking lights
Illuminates when the parking lights are on.
Rear fog light
Illuminates when the rear fog light is switched on.
Front fog lights3
Illuminates when the front fog lights are switched on.
Left and right turn signal indicators
The respective arrow (left or right) ashes when the turn signal indicators are in
use. If the light ashes rapidly, a turn signal bulb may have failed.
Cruise control3
Illuminates when cruise control is activated. Refer to Cruise Control further in
this chapter.
ESP®3
Illuminates for a few seconds when the ignition is switched on. The system is
now ready for operation. Refer to Electronic stability program in chapter 4.
Park assist3
If it illuminates when driving, a fault has occurred with the park assist system.
Refer to Park assist in chapter 4.

Diesel preheating system3
Illuminated during preheating.
Note Preheating system switches on only if outside temperature is low.
Diesel particle lter3
Flashing (in vehicles with diesel particle lter): diesel particle lter requires
cleaning. As soon as the road and trafc situation permits it, increase speed to
more than 40 km/h for a brief period. The control indicator goes off as soon as
cleaning is complete.
Note The engine cooling fan and rear window demister come on during cleaning.
Airbag and seat belt pretensioners
The airbag and seat belt pretensioners warning illuminates until the engine is
started. If it does not extinguish or if it illuminates when driving, there is a defect
in the airbag/seat belt pretensioner system and they may not function correctly,
especially in an accident. Consult your Holden Dealer as soon as possible.
Seat belt
The seat belt warning light ashes when the ignition is switched on unless/until
the driver’s seat belt is engaged. If the driver’s seat belt or the passenger’s seat,
ifitisoccupied,isnotengagedandthevehiclespeedexceeds25km/h,awarning
chime sounds. The warning chime continues to sound for 3 km or until the seat
belt is engaged. This is to remind occupants to fasten their seat belts. The
chime also sounds once if the driver’s seat belt is released before the ignition is
turned off.
Door open
Illuminates when a door or luggage compartment is left open.
Low fuel
Illuminateswhenthe fuel gaugeentersthe redzone(earlier when drivingaround
bends). If the light ashes, the fuel is about to run out.
Note If diesel engines run dry, the fuel system must be bled. Refer to Diesel fuel
system bleeding in chapter 6.
Winter mode automatic transmission3
Illuminates when the winter mode is activated.
Sport mode automatic transmission3
Illuminates when the sport mode is activated.
Interactive driving system/Continuous Damping Control (CDC)3
Illuminates for approximately 10 seconds after the driver’s door is opened.
If it illuminates while driving, there is a fault in the system. Consult your
Holden Dealer.

WIPERS AND WASHERS
Windscreen wipers
The lever on the left of the steering wheel
column controls the windscreen wipers
when the ignition is on.
Move the lever upwards to turn the
windscreen wipers on or to select the
next higher wiper speed.
Fast
Slow
- - Intermittent
OOff
Note Never operate the wipers on dry
glass, as this will damage the rubber and
scratch the glass.
Windscreen wipers –
Adjustable wiper interval3
To set the wiper interval to a value
between 2 and 15 seconds:
Switchontheignition.Presstheleverdown
from position §. Wait the desired interval.
Set the lever to intermittent $.
The interval remains stored until the
next change or the ignition is switched
off. Switching the ignition on and moving
the lever to $sets the interval to
4 seconds.
Single windscreen wiper sweep
When the wipers are turned off, push
the lever downwards to activate a single
sweep.
Windscreen washer
To spray washer uid onto the windscreen
pull the lever toward you.
This also causes the wipers to operate for
several sweeps.

Rear window wiper and washer3
Push the lever away from you to the rst
stop position to turn on the rear wiper. In
this position, the rear wiper operates at an
intermittent speed.
To switch off the rear wiper, push the lever
away from you once again.
To turn on the rear washer, push the lever
further and hold it for as long as required.
In this position, the rear wiper operates
continuously while the rear washer is
operating.
When the lever is returned to the rst stop
position, the rear wiper operates at an
intermittent speed.
The rear window wiper comes on when
the front wipers are on and the reverse
gear is engaged.

EXTERIOR LIGHTS
Light switch
Turn the dial to select the following:
O Off
8Parking lights
9Headlights and parking lights
An audible warning reminds you when
you are leaving the vehicle and have left
the headlights or park lights on.
High/low beam
With the headlights switched on, push the
lever away from you until you feel a click,
then release. The headlights change from
low beam to high beam.
Pull the lever back towards the steering
wheel to return to low beam. When
high beam is in use, the Plight on the
instrument panel illuminates.
Headlight ash
Flashthelights onhighbeam forsignalling
purposes (even if the headlights are
turned off) by pulling the lever towards
you. The lights remain on high beam as
long as the lever is held.

Headlight levelling adjustment
Adjust the headlight levelling to suit the
current load in the vehicle by selecting 0,
1,2 or 3when the headlights are on.
Push to extract the knob, push again to
retract the knob.
Depending on the vehicle conguration,
the range between some settings of the
headlamp levelling adjusting wheel may
be extremely small. Correct adjustment
of the headlight levelling reduces ‘dazzle’
for other road users.
0=Front seats occupied.
1=All seats occupied.
2=All seats occupied and load in the
luggage compartment.
3=Driver’s seat occupied and load in the
luggage compartment.
Front fog lights3
The fog light button is on the upper left-
hand side. Push the >button to switch
the fog lights on or off. The >light in
the instrument panel illuminates when the
fog lights are switched on.
Rear fog light
The rear fog light button is on the lower
left-hand side. Push the rbutton to
switch the fog light on or off. The rlight
in the instrument panel illuminates when
the fog light is on.
Check your State laws regarding the use
of fog lights when driving.
