2. Safety with Silk'n BellaFlash Pro
With Silk'n BellaFlashPro,safety comes rst
Home Pulsed Light (HPL) technology in Silk'n BellaFlash Pro provides superior
safety with lower energy levels. HPL achieves long-term hair removal results at
a fraction of the energy level used in other light-based hair removal equipment.
The low energy reduces the risk of harm or complications, and contributes to
your overall safety.
Silk'n BellaFlash Pro has additional features to protect your:
UEyes: Light pulses are only active when the treatment surface is
in full contact with the skin.
USkin: Your skin is never in direct contact with the optical lens
through which light pulses are emitted.
3. Contraindications & warnings
Silk'n BellaFlash Pro is not designed for everyone.
Hair removal by lasers or intense pulsed light sources can
cause increased hair growth in some individuals. Based
upon currently available data, the highest risk groups for
this response are females of Mediterranean, Middle Eastern
and South Asian heritage when used on the face and neck.
For more information visit www.silkn.com, or your local
Silk'n domain.

UAny other condition which, in the opinion of your physician or
dermatologist, would make it unsafe for you to be treated.
6. Safety tips
This section has information to help you use your device safely.
6.1 Exposure to the sun
UThe lowest energy level (1) is designed for safe use even after
sun exposure.
UIf you use energy levels 2-5, avoid further exposure to the sun
for 4 weeks before and 2 weeks after your treatment. This is
because higher quantities of melanin expose the skin to greater
risk when using any method of light-based hair removal. This
applies to all skin types, even those that don't seem to tan
quickly.
UWe don't advise it, but if you have to go out in the sun after a
treatment, be sure to apply sunscreen SPF30 or higher to the
treated area. Do this for 2 weeks after a treatment.
6.2 Exposure of pulse light to the eyes
UAlthough you can use the device to treat facial hair, take extra
care to avoid contact with the eyes, and use only below the
cheekbones.
6.3 Wounds or infections
UWait for the aected area to heal before further use.

7. Possible side eects
If you follow the instructions fully and pay attention to all warnings and
contraindications, complications and side eects are uncommon. However
every cosmetic procedure, including those designed for home use, involves
some degree of risk. Therefore, it is important that you understand and accept
the risks and complications that may occur with pulsed light hair removal
systems designed for home use.
Minor skin discomfort
Home pulsed light hair removal is generally well-tolerated. However, some
users feel mild discomfort during use. This is best described as a mild stinging
sensation on the treated skin areas. The stinging sensation may last during or
after treatment.
This means that you should use Silk'n BellaFlash Pro at a lower energy level,
and if that doesn't help, you should stop using the device.
Skin redness
Your skin may become red immediately after using the device or within 24
hours. Redness generally clears up within 24 hours.
See your doctor if redness does not go away within 2 to 3 days.
Make sure you use the energy level that is comfortable for you and suitable
for your skin color. Refer to section "9.1 Before your rst treatment".
Increased sensitivity of the skin
The skin of the treated area is more sensitive so you may encounter dryness
or aking of the skin.
Excessive redness and swelling
In rare cases, treated skin may become very red and swollen. This is more
common in sensitive areas of the body. The redness and swelling should
subside within 2 to 7 days and should be treated with frequent applications of
ice. Gentle cleansing is OK, but avoid exposure to the sun.
Flash&Go Pro BellaFlash Pro UM NA 2102B inside ED131-01.indd 9 20/03/2017 11:52:23

EN
10
Blisters or burns
Cool the aected area and apply anti-burn cream. Wait until the area has
healed completely before another treatment, and use a lower energy level.
If the skin does not return to normal within 3 days, consult your
physician.
Scarring
Although very rare, scarring may occur. Usually when scarring occurs, it is in
the form of a at and white lesion on the skin (hypotrophic). However, it can
be large and red (hypertrophic) or large and extend beyond the margins of
the injury itself (keloid). Subsequent aesthetic treatments may be required to
improve the appearance of the scar.
Pigment changes
Silk'n BellaFlash Pro targets the hair shaft, in particular the pigmented cells
in the hair follicle and the hair follicle itself. Nevertheless, there is a risk of
temporary hyper-pigmentation (increased pigment or brown discoloration) or
hypo-pigmentation (whitening) to the surrounding skin. This risk of changes
in skin pigmentation is higher for people with darker skin tones.
Usually discoloration or changes to skin pigment are temporary and
hyperpigmentation or hypo-pigmentation rarely occur.
Infection
Infection of the skin is exceedingly rare but is still a possible risk following a
skin burn or wound caused when using Silk'n BellaFlash Pro .
Bruising
Very rarely, treatment may cause blue-purple bruising that can last 5 to 10
days. As the bruising fades, there may be a rust-brown discoloration of the
skin (hyper-pigmentation).

8. Long-term hair removal the Silk'n way
The eciency of hair removal varies from person to person according to body
area, hair color, and how Silk'n BellaFlash Pro is used. A typical full hair growth
cycle may take 18-24 months. During this time, multiple treatment sessions are
required to achieve permanent hair removal.
A typical Silk'n BellaFlash Pro hair removal plan during a full hair growth cycle
includes:
UTreatments 1-4: Plan two weeks apart.
UTreatments 5-7: Plan four weeks apart.
UTreatments 8+: Treat as needed, until desired results are
achieved.
8.1 Expected treatment outcomes
Individual response depends on hair type as well as biological factors that may
aect hair growth patterns. Some users may respond quicker or slower than
the average number of treatments.

8.2 Energy levels
The energy level determines the intensity of the light pulse delivered to your
skin. As the energy level increases, so do hair removal results, as well as the risk
of possible side eects and complications.
UThe device has 5 levels of energy from 1 (the lowest) to 5 (the
highest), represented by 5 energy level indicator lights.
UWhen the device is turned on, the energy level is set to level 1
automatically. Only one energy level indicator light will be on.
UTo change the energy level, press the control button repeatedly
to increase the energy level from 1 to 5. Once at level 5, press
the control button again to reduce the energy level from 5 back
to 1.
M
To determine the right energy level for your treatment area,
refer to section"9.1 Before your rst treatment".

8.3 Pulsing and gliding
Pulsing is the best technique for working at higher energy levels.
UPress the treatment surface against your skin. Work in rows
(either across or down as shown in the image). Start at one end
of each row and progress to the other end.
UThe treatment surface creates temporary pressure marks on the
treated area so you can see areas you have treated.
UAfter each pulse, move the treatment surface to the next spot.
Keep doing this pulsing action for the area you are treating.
UAvoid gaps or overlaps as you use the device.
Gliding is the best technique for working at lower energy levels.
UPress the treatment surface rmly against your skin and slowly
glide over your skin (either across or down as shown in the
image). Make sure that the treatment surface is always touching
your skin.
UAt lower energy levels, the device takes only 1-1.5 seconds to
recharge between pulses. This generates a nonstop sequence
of ashes.
UGlide at a speed so that you avoid gaps or overlaps.
EDo not treat the same area of skin more than once per hair
removal session.
EStop use immediately if you have any discomfort.

8.4 Device sensors
Your Silk'n BellaFlash Pro has three sensors. for touch, movement, and color.
UTouch and Movement: The device will only emit repeated
pulses when it is in rm contact with your skin, and you keep
moving it across your skin.
UColor: Light-based hair removal on darker skin tones may
result in adverse eects such as burns, blisters, and skin color
changes (hyper- or hypo-pigmentation). Your Silk'n BellaFlash
Pro has a skin color sensor that detects the color of your skin
automatically. The skin color sensor checks your skin color at the
start of, and occasionally during, each treatment.
M
If Silk'n BellaFlash Pro detects that your skin tone is dark, and the
energy level is set to 3 or higher, the device will auto-adjust and
set the energy level back to 2.
8.5 What to expect when treating with Silk'n
For many people, using Silk'n BellaFlash Pro may be their rst experience with a
light-based device. During a treatment session it is normal to experience or feel:
UNoise: The cooling fan makes noise similar to a hair dryer. This
is normal.
UA popping sound: With each ash of HPL™ light.
UA sensation of warmth and tingling: During each light
pulse.
USome redness: It is not uncommon to see some very mild,
pink-like skin coloration during or just after a treatment. This is
usually most noticeable around the hairs themselves.
EStop use immediately if you see your skin is very red.
EContact your physician immediately, if you experience any
complication.
