• The humidi ier must be located where the ambient
temperature is above 32°F and below 160°F (0°C
and 71°C).
• Be sure supply plenum static pressure is no
greater than 0.3 in. w.c. and water pressure is no
greater than 125 psi.
IMPORTANT
To assure optimal product performance, be sure the
template is level before marking location.
1. Determine the best location or the humidi ier and draw
a level line on the plenum. See Fig. 3.

IMPORTANT
Mount the humidifier at least 3 in. (76 mm) above
the furnace jacket to allo adequate space for the
solenoid valve and drain line. Check that there is
adequate space above the humidifier to remove and
install the humidifier cover.
2. Tape the template in position and trace around the
template.
3. Remove the template and care ully cut the rectangular
opening.
4. Disassemble the humidi ier; remove the cover and take
out the humidi ier pad assembly. See Fig. 4.
NOTE: Sidewalls are interchangeable or either le t or
right by-pass installation. To change direction,
remove the screws holding each sidewall,
switch sidewall locations and reinstall the
screws.
5. Position the humidi ier housing in the opening (be sure
it is level), so the locking tabs are in place on the lower
sheet metal edge o the opening.
6. Secure the humidi ier housing to the opening at the top
and bottom using sheet metal screws.
7. Locate the other plenum and cut an opening or a 6 in.
(152 mm) collar.
8. Install the 6 in. (152 mm) collar.
NOTE: Be sure to install a duct damper or summer
shuto on systems with air conditioning.
9. Install a 6 in. (152 mm) diameter duct rom the collar to
the humidi ier.
NOTE: Some installations require a 90° elbow
attachment to the collar.
10. Seal the duct connections with duct tape.
NOTE: To avoid sagging and stress on the humidi ier,
add support when ducting is longer than
4 t (120 cm).
11. Reinstall the humidi ier pad assembly in the humidi ier
housing.
NOTE: Be sure the water eed tube is not pinched or
kinked.
12. Hinge the cover in place and secure with the
thumbscrew located at the bottom o the cover.

• Disconnect the power supply be ore installing or
servicing.
• On multispeed blower applications, do not wire the
high voltage side o the trans ormer to the same
power source that services the urnace blower.
Premature trans ormer burnout may occur.
All wiring must comply with applicable local codes,
ordinances and regulations.
1. Mount the trans ormer in a convenient location.
2. Connect wires to the 120V side o the trans ormer.
3. Wire the humidi ier solenoid valve, current sensing
relay, or sail switch, humidity control and trans ormer.
Re er to the humidity control installation instructions or
mounting and wiring in ormation.
NOTE: Select models o an centers include humidi ier taps
so the current sensing relay or sail switch is not
needed.

PLUMB NG THE SADDLE VALVE
Hot or cold water, either hard or so tened, can be used in the
humidi ier.
1. Use the sel -piercing saddle valve (included) to tap into
the water supply line at an appropriate location.
IMPORTANT
• The saddle valve is not designed to regulate ater
flo . The valve is either open or closed.
• To prevent debris from clogging the solenoid inline
filter, be sure to install the saddle valve handle
pointing to ard the ceiling.
NOTE: Lightly clean the copper tubing ends with ine
sandpaper be ore making any connections.
2. Use 1/4 in. O.D. copper tubing and connect the saddle
valve to the inlet side o the solenoid valve.
CAUT ON

Do not use any line connected to an air conditioner.
a. Place the brass compression nut over the copper
tubing.
NOTE: Do not over tighten the compression nut.
Moderate tightness prevents leaking.
b. Slide the brass errule over the tubing.
c. Insert the tubing into the solenoid valve itting and
support the valve while tightening the
compression nut.
3. Connect a 1/2 in. (13 mm) drain tube to the humidi ier
drain itting and run to a suitable drain.
NOTE: Slope the drain tube downward or correct
drainage.
CHECK NG THE NSTALLAT ON
Use the ollowing procedure to check out the humidi ier
installation:
1. Open the saddle valve.
2. Set the thermostat setpoint to 10°F (6°C) above the
room temperature.
NOTE: The urnace blower must be on or the
humidi ier to operate.
3. Set the Convertible Humidity Control to a high setting,
or place the H1008A Automatic Humidity Control in the
Test position.
4. Observe the water running out o the drain line to be
sure the humidi ier is working.
5. Check or leaks.
6. Reset the thermostat and Convertible Humidity Control
to a com ortable setting, or the Automatic Humidity
Control to the desired rost actor setting, or automatic
operation.
OPERAT NG THE HUM D F ER
The HE225A and HE265A
Humidi iers are controlled by
the Convertible Humidity
Control that is installed either
on an interior wall in the living
area or on the return air duct.
Choose the humidity control
setting using the combination
relative humidity/outdoor
temperature setting scale on the
humidity control dial. Match the
dial setting to the outdoor temperature or optimizing the
humidity level while reducing the moisture condensation on
inside windows. Table 5 can also be used to adjust the
humidity control to the recommended setting.
NOTE: As the outside temperature drops, the
recommended setting is lowered to accommodate
the e ects o dewpoint. These settings should
reduce the accumulation o moisture and ice on the
windows and in other areas o the house.
Some indoor activities such as cooking, showering and
clothes drying can cause excessive levels o humidity and
start the accumulation o moisture on the windows.
NOTE: I this condition persists or more than a ew hours,
set the humidity control to the lowest setting to turn
o the humidi ier. I the condition does not improve,
ventilate your home to remove the moisture.
The Enviracaire Elite HE225B
and HE265B Humidi iers are
controlled by the Honeywell
H1008A Automatic Humidity
Control with HumidiCalc+
So tware. The automatic
humidity control is mounted in
the return air duct where it can be
exposed to the air stream o the
return air. The HumidiCalc+ So tware
inside the automatic humidity control
is designed to automatically adjust the humidity level based
on indoor temperature and humidity, in erred or measured
outdoor temperature, and the setting o the rost actor dial.
The rost actor allows or variations in urnace size, window
insulation and average daily climate temperature.
The Automatic Humidity Control with HumidiCalc+ So tware
requires an initial adjustment period. Set the rost actor dial
on 5 and use Table 6 to adjust the rost actor—only one
setting at a time—increasing the dial setting or more
humidity, or reducing the setting i moisture develops on
inside windows. For more precise humidity adjustment, set
the rost actor between dial settings. Allow two days or the
humidity level to subside be ore making urther adjustments.
Once the proper setting has been ound, no urther
adjustment is needed. HumidiCalc+ So tware takes over
and makes any uture adjustments caused by varying outdoor
temperatures, thus reducing moisture build-up on windows
while maintaining the optimal humidity level.

OPERAT ON
The HE225A,B and HE265A,B Humidi iers use the principle
that vapor (evaporated water) is created when warm air blows
over a water soaked area. As the vapor circulates, the relative
humidity rises.
The humidity control monitors the relative humidity and
activates the humidi ier accordingly. The humidi ier has a
water supply that disburses water over an antimicrobial
humidi ier pad. The warm dry air rom the urnace passes
over the humidi ier pad and collects moisture and them
circulates it through the house.
Humidi ied air eels warmer and more com ortable so the
homeowner may be able to lower the thermostat heating
setpoint and save money on heating uel bills. The end result
is that the humidi ier gives the homeowner a com ortable
environment that is also energy e icient.
MA NTENANCE
A regular maintenance program prolongs the li e o the
humidi ier and provides a more com ortable environment.
Either hard or so t water can be used in the humidi ier.
Frequency o cleaning depends on the condition o the water.
CAUT ON

Can cause electrical shock and equipment
damage.
Disconnect power supply be ore installing or
servicing.
IMPORTANT
Never oil any part of the humidifier.
Every 1 to 3 Months
(Depending on Water Quality)
Use the ollowing procedure to clean the humidi ier:
1. Disconnect the power and turn o the humidi ier water
supply.
2. Remove the humidi ier cover. See Fig. 5.

3. Remove the humidi ier pad assembly rom the
humidi ier by grasping the tray and pulling it toward
you.
4. Pull one side o the humidi ier pad assembly rame
toward you and remove the tray rom the rame.
5. Gently pinch the water nozzle catches inward until the
water nozzle can be li ted o the tray.
6. Slide the antimicrobial humidi ier pad out o the rame.
7. Care ully scrape any mineral deposits rom the tray and
rame. Be sure the rame drain hole has nothing
blocking it.

8. Check the humidi ier pad and i excessive mineral
deposits are present, replace with a new antimicrobial
pad.
9. Disconnect the tube rom the drain itting on the bottom
o the humidi ier housing.
10. Clean the drain itting, i necessary.
11. Bend the drain tube to loosen any mineral deposits.
12. Flush the drain tube with pressurized water (a running
tap) to clean the tube.
13. Reattach the drain tube to the drain itting.
14. Slide the humidi ier pad back into the rame.
IMPORTANT
To maintain the antimicrobial properties of the
humidifier, use only a Honey ell HC22E or HC26E
Antimicrobial Pad. See Table 8 List of Replacement
Parts for appropriate pad. Be sure the marked side
of the antimicrobial humidifier pad is facing up for
proper performance.
15. Snap the water nozzle back on the tray.
16. Reattach the tray to the rame.
17. Place the humidi ier pad assembly in the humidi ier
housing and press until the assembly is completely
seated. Be care ul not to pinch or kink the water eed
tube.
18. Replace the humidi ier cover.
19. Veri y the humidi ier operation by ollowing the steps in
the Checkout Procedure section.
End of Humidification Season
At the end o the heating season, ollow steps 1 through 18
rom the Every 1 To 3 Months section to clean the humidi ier
and shut i o .
IMPORTANT
Be sure the humidifier po er is off.
Beginning of Humidification Season
Re er to the Checkout Procedure section to complete the
humidi ier startup.
Vacation
When leaving on vacation, turn o the humidi ier water supply
and the humidity control. When returning rom vacation, turn
on the humidi ier water supply and reset the humidity control
to restart the humidi ier.
CHECKOUT PROCEDURE
A ter winter startup or servicing, use the ollowing procedure
to check the humidi ier operation:
1. Turn on the humidi ier power and water supply.
2. Turn the Convertible Humidity Control to the highest
setting, or place the H1008A Automatic Humidity
Control in the Test position and set the thermostat to
10°F (6°C) above the room temperature.
3. Observe that water is lowing out o the drain hose.
NOTE: The urnace blower must be on or the
humidi ier to operate.
4. Reset the thermostat and Convertible Humidity Control
to a com ortable setting, or the H1008A Automatic
Humidity Control to the desired rost actor setting, or
automatic operation.
TROUBLESHOOT NG

condensation caused by moisture rom bathing, mopping,
cooking, etc. I moisture persists, more ventilation is needed.
