Please ensure that this guide is fully understood before operating the appliance.

not be earthed. The plug is fitted with a 13 Amp fuse.

discharge is not hazardous to health.
REMEMBER:
• When using cleaning tools ensure that the cleaner is kept in the upright (parked) position.
This will avoid possible damage to the carpet, floor or floor covering
• Keep hands, feet, loose clothing and hair away from rotating brushes
• After use, switch the cleaner off and remove the plug from the electricity supply. Always switch
off and remove the plug before cleaning the appliance or attempting any maintenance task
DO NO :
• Position the cleaner above you when cleaning stairs
• Use your cleaner out of doors, on wet surfaces or for wet pick-up
• Pick up matches, hot ash, cigarette ends, hard or sharp objects or anything that may damage the cleaner
• Spray with, or pick up, flammable liquids, cleaning fluids, aerosols, or their vapours, as this may cause risk
of fire/explosion
• Run over the supply cord when using your cleaner or remove the plug by pulling on the cord
• Stand on, or wrap the power cord around arms or legs when using your cleaner
• Continue to use your cleaner if it appears to be faulty. If the supply cord is damaged stop using
the cleaner IMMEDIA ELY. The supply cord must be replaced by an authorized Hoover
service engineer to avoid a safety hazard

Your Hoover Guarantee
During year 1 HOOVER engineers will replace or repair
all defective parts free of charge, e cept for parts subject
to fair wear and tear such as belts, brushes and filters.
To qualify for benefits under guarantee, you must be able
to provide proof of purchase and the appliance
must have been supplied, maintained
and used in accordance with HOOVER instructions.

Assembling your cleaner

1Stand PERFORMER PE on the floor and push the handle firmly into the top of the
cleaner making sure it clicks into place.
2Place the dust container onto the ribbed moulding and push into main body until
it clicks into place.
3Push hose into the two hose clips.

EMPTYING THE DUST CONTAINER
For peak performance we recommend t e dust container is emptied on a regular basis.
Filling must not exceed t e maximum level indicated on t e dust level viewing window.
REMEMBER – Always switc off and unplug t e mac ine from t e electricity supply
before maintaining your cleaner.
12 Dust container release
Holding t e pre-motor filter cover, press t e dust container release button and lift t e dust
container from t e cleaner.
13 Dust container emptying
T e 2-stage opening system minimises t e escape of dust w en emptying. To release fine dust
first, firmly old t e dust container and pus down t e and grip at t e back of t e container
wit your palm (13a).
Rotate and grip wit your fingers to open fully t e dust container and release t e remaining
debris (13b). Reverse operation to close t e dust container.

FLOOR CLEANING
Make sure andle is fully clicked into place.

2Release power cord
Rotate t e quick release cord storage ook to release t e cord.
Plug t e cleaner into a power socket.
3Power cord location
For safe operation always ensure cord is located into t e 2 cord retaining clips.
4Working mode
Place foot on cleaner base and pull t e andle back to put t e cleaner in working mode.
5witching your cleaner on
Press t e on/off switc as s own.

U ING THE CLEANING TOOL
8 Tools mode
Press t e stair cleaning release button and lift t e andle from t e cleaner body.
T ere are 3 cleaning tools included:
9 Zoom Cleaning Tool with integrated crevice tool
T e Zoom Cleaning Tool can be extended for extra reac by pus ing t e collar
and t e andle away from eac ot er. To retract t e Zoom Cleaning Tool pull
t e collar towards t e andle.
10 Pet Hair Remover
T e turbo nozzle is stored on t e ose support and fits on t e crevice tool.
It is ideal for up olstery, stair cleaning and many ot er uses.
11 Dusting brush
T e dusting brus is stored on t e cleaner body and fits on t e crevice tool.
It is ideal for gentle dusting on all surfaces.
REMEMBER - Make sure handle is fully clicked into place after use.
STAIR CLEANING
REMEMBER – Always work with the cleaner below you. The exceptional suction may
cause the cleaning tool to become locked to a surface, restricting airflow. In such cases,
simply lift the tool away from the surface. Make sure the handle is fully clicked into place
after use.
6tair cleaning mode
To use t e cleaning tools, press t e stair cleaning release button and lift t e andle from
t e cleaner body.
Release t e flexible ose from clips.
T e flexible ose fitted wit t e extended Zoom Cleaning Tool wit integrated crevice tool
will reac up a full flig t of 13 stairs.
7Positioning the cleaner for maximum safety
Your cleaner incorporates an Anti-Tip Design. Ensure t e cleaner is positioned up against
t e bottom step.

FILTER Y TEM
T ere are 3 filters and a dust screen. T e pre-motor filter and t e Antibacterial foam filter
are located beneat t e pre-motor filter cover above t e dust container. T e ex aust filter is
located below t e dust container. T e dust screen is wit in t e dust container.
REMEMBER – Always switc off and unplug t e mac ine from t e electricity supply before
maintaining your cleaner.
14 Pre-motor filter and Antibacterial foam filter maintenance
Rotate t e pre-motor filter cover anticlockwise (14a). T e pre-motor filter and t e
Antibacterial foam filter are attac ed under t e filter cover (14b). Using t e tab provided
remove t e foam filter and was under and warm water.
Remove pre-motor filter from t e cover and rinse t e inner side of t e filter under and
warm water (14c). Do not scrub and do not use detergents. Allow to air dry t oroug ly
before refitting. Refit pre-motor filter ensuring t e t icker seal end is pressed into filter
cover.
REMEMBER – Clean t ese filters after every 5 dust container empties, or if t ere is a drop in
performance.
15 Pre-motor screen maintenance
Remove t e pre-motor filter cover wit filters attac ed as above. Lift out t e pre-motor
screen using t e integral andle (15a). Use t e dusting brus to remove any dust from t e
screen (15b). Refit t e screen. We recommend cleaning t e screen after every 5 bin empties,
or if t ere is a drop in performance.
16 Hepa Anti Odour filter
Hoover PERFORMER PET is fitted wit a HEPA Anti Odour ex aust filter to retain finest dust
particles and unpleasant odours. After 12 mont s you may wis to replace t e ex aust filter
wit a new one. T is part can be ordered t roug t e GIAS Service Division at 01204 - 556111
or purc ased on www. oover.co.uk at Hoover Accessory S op (Part no. 04365127 T84).
T e HEPA Anti Odour filter requires little or no maintenance and s ould only need c ecking
if t ere is a drop in performance.
To access t e HEPA Anti Odour filter, remove t e dust container from t e cleaner (16a).
Press t e filter release button to release t e ex aust filter (16b and 16c).
S ake t e filter to remove fine dust particles. Do not was or scrub t e filter.

CLEARING BLOCKAGE
REMEMBER – Always switc off and unplug t e mac ine from t e electricity supply before
maintaining your cleaner.
17 Clearing a blockage in t e flexible ose
Twist t e ose end connectors to remove ose from bot t e base of t e cleaner and t e
andle.
C eck ose and andle for blockages. Use a blunt rod to remove any obstruction.
After clearing any blockage in t e ose, refit bot ose connectors ensuring t e ose
supports are located on t e inner side of t e ose.
18 Clearing a blockage at t e cleaner base
Remove t e flexible ose as previously described. Unclip t e cover at t e base of t e mac ine
(18a). C eck t e lower ose for any blockages (18b). T e lower ose can be easily removed for
inspection. Refit ose and ose cover.

19 CHECKING BELT AND BRUSHES/ REPLACING THE BELT
REMEMBER – Always switc off and unplug t e mac ine from t e electricity supply before
c ecking t e brus es, belt or removing t e ood.
Remove t e flexible ose from t e cleaner – twist ose end connectors to remove ose
at bot ends as s own in section 17.
Lie cleaner flat. Using a cross ead screwdriver remove 4 ood screws as s own (19a).
Turn cleaner over and lift off ood (19b).
Remove agitator brus and belt assembly by pulling upwards out of t e cleaner
base (19c).
Replace belt, if worn or broken, by looping t e new belt over t e metal
motor spindle (19d).
Refit agitator brus assembly by olding t e brus and stretc ing t e belt.
Align and insert bot agitator end caps into slots in t e base as s own (19e).
W en located, rotate t e agitator brus to ensure free movement of t e belt.
Pus down front of ood to fit in t e cleaner base (19f).
Lie cleaner flat and secure ood using t e 4 screws (19a).
Refit flexible ose.

If your cleaner as stopped working completely, run t roug t e following c eck list:
NOTE: It will take about 30 minutes for t e t ermal cut out to automatically reset.
If your cleaner is not working properly, run t roug t e following c ecklist:
REMEMBER – Always switch off and unplug the machine from the electricity supply before
maintaining your cleaner.
REMEMBER - If there is any doubt, call the Hoover Advice Helpline (open 7 days a week)
on 08705 400600. They may be able to assist you over the telephone.

Is t ere a working electricity supply to t e cleaner?
C eck wit anot er electrical product.
A t ermal cut out switc es off t e cleaner automatically to prevent over eating if t e
cleaner is used w en t e dust container is over full, or t e filters require cleaning,
or t ere is a blockage. If t is s ould appen switc off and unplug t e mac ine from
t e electricity supply. To correct t e fault please refer to sections 12-18.
