How to Use the Ground Sleeve
Installing Ground Sleeve
Concrete the ground sleeve into the ground instead of the dryer’s post!
Dig a tapered hole (wider at the bottom than at the
top) that is 8”- 10” wide and approx. 20” deep.
Fill the bottom of the hole approx. 3” deep with
small-medium sized rocks.
STEP 4
STEP 3
STEP 2
STEP 1
(A) Fill the hole with approx. 6” of concrete, up to the
base of the ground sleeve. (Clothesline will be 6’ above
ground level. Adjust sleeve depth as needed.)
(B) Place the ground sleeve and
fill in around the ground sleeve
with concrete up to within 1” of
ground level (remaining space
can be filled with topsoil after
concrete sets).
Insert the dryer pole into the ground sleeve and use a
level to align the pole vertically.
Remove the pole carefully (WITHOUT shifting the
ground sleeve).
Run a small tube or stick down through the center of
the ground sleeve, through the concrete, and to the
rock base (to allow draining).
Remove tube/stick and allow concrete to set.
FIRST TIME USE:
1. (BEST WITH 2 PEOPLE)
Lay umbrella on its side.
Depress buttons on both slides
at the same time and push
center pole down and flush
with top.
2. Insert lower pole into center pole.
3. Place in ground sleeve.
4. Open the dryer and tighten lines as needed.
Tightening Lines: Only tighten lines when dryer is open. Never over-tighten because
some slack is needed to open and close the dryer. Expect to tighten 2-3 times during first
months of use.
Opening the Dryer: Make sure lines are not tangled and not too tight. Both can make it
hard to open the dryer!
Taking the Dryer Down: Always take down during inclement weather. First, close the
dryer and tie lines together on either side of the center pole (you'll have 2 ties). Then,
remove the dryer from the ground sleeve and take it inside.
HEIGHT ADJUST:
1. Set the height of the
dryer with the top slide:
press the button and
slide the sleeve up or
down as desired.
2. Use the bottom slide
to open and close the
dryer.
GENERAL USE:
1. Only open the dryer
after it is securely set
up in the ground sleeve.
2. Press and hold the
button on the bottom
slide to open and close
the dryer.
3. Grasp the arms of the
dryer to spin the dryer.
4. Tighten lines as
needed. Always close
dryer after use and take
inside during inclement
weather.
