Enabling and Disabling the Automatic
E-Mail Notification Feature
Your Presario has an e-mail light on the keyboard to indicate when you have
received new mail messages. This is achieved with the mail checking feature in
the Digital Dashboard. With the E-mail Waiting feature, you can specify a time
for your computer to connect to your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and check
for new mail while you are away. With the Internet Time feature, you can specify
a time for your computer to connect to the Internet and update the system time.
Follow these steps to change the mail checking settings.
1. Click Start >> Settings >> Control Panel.
2. Double-click Digital Dashboard.
3. On the General Settings tab, make sure the Enable Digital Dashboard
box is checked.
4. On the Internet Time tab, make sure the Enable Internet Time box is
checked andverify the time settings.
Important: If ISP is not a local call, telephone charges may apply.
5. On the E-Mail Waiting tab, make sure the Enable E-mail Waiting box is
checked.
6. On the Dial Up Settings tab, enter the information to auto-dial your ISP.
You can disable either the mail checking feature or the Internet Time feature
by clearing the Enable box on the appropriate tab.
Note: The mail notification and Internet time features work only with POP3
Internet services. This feature may not work with proprietary Internet
services.
