keyboard.

Thiskeyboardisthe latest inawide range ofcomputerperipheralsmanufactured byHPandisdesigned to
provide you withthe highest level of comfort availablewhilealsoallowing formaximumfunctionality.
The HPKBRF28711 Wireless keyboardisasimpleyetinnovativepackage thatallowsyoutoconfigureyour
keyboardand keyboardtobestmeet yourneeds.
SafetyGuidelines
Physicaldiscomfortand injury can be caused bythe incorrect useof yourkeyboard.Follow theseguidelines
toensuresuchproblemsareavoided:
Situp straightinyourchair,withyourelbowsbyyourside.
Adjust the height of yourchairsoyourarmbendsat a90-degree anglerespective toyourdesk.
Position yourkeyboardinfrontyou,tothe side ofyourkeyboard.
Do not slouchorhunchoveryourworkspace. It isimportant tokeep yourwrists, armsand
shouldersrelaxed.
Ifnecessary, useawrist rest orapalmresttoalleviateextrastress placed on your jointswhen
typing orusing the keyboard,especiallyforlong periodsoftime.
Ifyouexperienceanyfeelingsnumbness, cramp, swelling orstiffness inyourwrist,arms, neckorshoulders,
consult yourlocal doctorornearest healthinstitutionimmediately.
Navigating HPWireless Keyboard
The simpleand straightforwardinterfacemakesiteasyforyou tocustomizeeachfunctionofyourkeyboard.
Different settings are indicated by the tabs on the top of the screen. Click on the links to entereach
settings screen.

Wireless keyboardinstructions(Onlysome modelsare equippedwithwireless keyboard)
Beforeusing the wireless keyboard, carefullyread the configuration instructionsinthe QuickReferenceposter.
Ifyoufailtoconnect the wireless keyboardaccording tothe stepsshown inthe Quick Referenceposter, you
mayalsoconnect using the instructionsbelow.
Method 1:
1. Afterinstalling the batteries, turnon the powerswitchesofthe wireless keyboard.
2. Press the wireless connect buttonson the back ofthe keyboard.
Whenthe keyboardwireless indicatorlightsblinkwhite,turnthecomputeron immediately
Note: Ifthe wireless indicatorlightsstop blinking, pressthe connect buttonson the keyboardagain.
3. Afterentering the system,press the Bluetoothconnect button on the basestand forover10 secondsto
searchforwireless devices.
Note: The process ofsearching forwireless devicescouldtakeseveral minutes.
4. Whenthe wireless keyboarddeviceisfound,the driverwillbe installed automatically.
5. Whenthe wireless keyboarddeviceisfound, enterthe PINcode and press the Enter keytofinishthe
pairing process.
6. Oncethe wireless connection hasbeen successfullyestablished, the wireless keyboardwill work properly.
Method 2:
Notes:
•Beforeusing the method below, enterthe systemand prepareaset ofwired keyboard.
•If you want toinstallanewset ofwireless keyboard, followthe stepsbelow.
1. Using the wired keyboardtoenterthe system.
2. Turnon the powerswitchesof the wireless keyboard.

3. Press the wireless connect buttonson the back ofthe keyboard.
Whenthe keyboardwireless indicatorlightsblinkwhite,turnthecomputeron immediately.
Note: Ifthe wireless indicatorlightsstop blinking, pressthe connect buttonson the keyboardagain.
4. Toopen the Devicesand Printersdialog box, go toWindowsand click Start →Control Panel →
Hardware and Sound. Press Add adevice topop-up adialogbox.
5. Selectthe HPBluetooth Keyboard and click Next toestablishthe Bluetoothconnection.
6. Selectthe HPWireless keyboard and click Next.(Press Add adevice icon if the dialogboxisclosed and
pressthe connect button again.)
7. Enterthe pairing code and press the Enter keytocompletethe Bluetoothconnection.
Changing Button Settings
You can configureeachofthe fivekeyboardbuttonsthrough the button settingsscreen.
The 'Select Button'list displaysthe list of buttonsand theircurrentfunction.The 'SelectTask'list displaysa
list ofactionsyou can taketoconfigurethe button highlighted inthe'Select Button'list.
Moveyourkeyboardoverthe 'Select Button'list and click eachitemtoviewmoreinformation.
Restore Defaults
Eachsetting screen hasaRestoreDefaultsbutton. Click torestoreall
settingstotheiroriginaldefaults.
TheMiddleKeyboard Button
By default,the keyboardwheelisset tooperateas Middle Button when pressed.
Selectthe function you wishtoassign tothe middlebutton bychecking the radiobuttonsin the Select Task
list.
Click tosaveallchanges.
Moveyourkeyboardoverand clickanyof the Select Task list optionsformoredetailed information.
SideButton1
By default,the button isset tooperateas Backward when pressed.
Selectthe function you wishtoassign tothe buttonbychecking theradiobuttonsinthe Select Task list.

SideButton2
By default,the button isset tooperateas Forward whenpressed.
Selectthe function you wishtoassign tothe buttonbychecking theradiobuttonsinthe Select Task list.

Middle Keyboard Button
Selecttoassign the button toMiddleKeyboardButton bychecking the radiobuttonsinthe Select Task list.
Click tosaveallchanges.

3D Flip
Selecttoswitchbetween running programswhen you click the keyboardwheel.Anapplication list appears
Windows XP:
Windows Vista:
Click anykeyboardbutton toswitchtothe selected application.
Forward
Whenyou press the button, the page youvisited beforeyou pressed the Backwardbutton isdisplayed inyour
browser.
Click tosaveallchanges.
Backward
Whenyou press the button, the last page you visited inyourbrowserisdisplayed.
Click tosaveallchanges.

ChangeWheel Settings
You can configurethe wheelsettingsinthe wheelsettingsscreen.
The 'Scrolling Speed'section allowsyou toadjust the scroll speed when you scrollthewheelvertically.
The 'Horizontal Scrolling'section allowsyou toadjustthe scrollspeed when you scrollthe wheel
horizontally(tiltleft/right).
Keyboard Wheel
Scroll one screen per notch: Click the radiobutton tochoosescroll downbyscreenwhen you movethe
keyboardwheel.
Click tosaveallchanges.

Troubleshooting
Question: My keyboard is not working. What should I do?
Answer: Check if the receiverisplugged incorrectlytoyourcomputer'sUSBport.Alooseconnection may
result inthe computernot being abletodetectthe device.
Ifyourkeyboardisconnected toahub ormulti-port USBconnector,unplug the deviceand plug it directlyinto
yourcomputer'sUSB port, ensuring thereisno interferencecaused bythesedevices.
Othersystemdevices, suchasPCcards,maycauseconflictsthatprevent yourkeyboardfromworking
properly. Checkthe settingsof thesedevicesand makeanychangesasnecessary. Reboot yourcomputer
and re-attachthe keyboard.
Question: The keyboard pointer is moving abnormally. What should I do?
Answer: The likelycauseofthisproblemisdebrisaround oron the lenswhichisinterfering withtheoptical
signal. Clean the keyboardlenswithacotton swab. Do not useanyothermaterialsorsolventstoclean the
keyboardlensasthismayresultindamage tothelens.
Ifthe keyboardpointercontinuestomoveabnormallyaftercleaning, re-installthe driversandsoftware.

Low Battery Notification
Whenthe keyboardisrunning outofpower, aNotification windowwill pop up on the screen.
Replacethe batteriestocontinue tousethe keyboard.
