Rack Stability

• The leveling jacks are extended to the floor.
• The full weight of the rack rests on the leveling jacks.
• The stabilizing feet are attached to the rack if it is a single-rack installation.

Introduction
The HP 1U Integrated Keyboard Drawer is a rack-mountable keyboard drawer with a
multipurpose cover, featuring a paper holder and two CD holders, and a keyboard
with hot keys and track ball.
NOTE: 1U = 4.45 cm or 1.75 inches

The 1U Integrated Keyboard Drawer is mounted on rails, with space available to add
the 1U Switch Console behind the unit. This product can be used with all Compaq
Series racks.

The 1U Integrated Keyboard Drawer provides integrated hot keys for use with
Keyboard Video Mouse (KVM) switch products. This function facilitates easy
switching between rack-mounted devices. The keyboard has nine programmable hot
keys to provide switching functionality between nine devices with an additional
wizard key for programming.

Installing the 1U Integrated Keyboard Drawer
This chapter discusses the installation and setup procedures for installing the
1U Integrated Keyboard Drawer.

• M-6 cage nuts (2)
• M-6 screws (6)
• 6-32 screws (8)
• Mounting rails with slides (2)
• Cable management arm (1)
• Cable management arm brace (1)
• 1U Integrated Keyboard Drawer (1)
• Lock plates (2)
• Clutch hole covers (2)
• Keyboard hot key labels (2)
This kit may contain extra pieces of hardware for your convenience.

Tools Required
You need the following:
• Phillips screwdriver
• T-15 Torx driver
Installation Instructions
To install the 1U Integrated Keyboard Drawer:
1. Determine the rack position for the 1U Integrated Keyboard Drawer, generally
20U from the bottom of the rack, or user preference.
Measuring from the top of the component, use the template on the front and rear
of the rack frame to mark the attachment points for the rail-mounting brackets
and rear cage nuts.
NOTE: When using the template for the rear of the rack, mark the rack at the top of the
template to help align the next component.

2. Install the cage nuts and mounting rails to the rack.
a. Insert one cage nut into the hole you marked using the rack template on the
rear of the rack (1).
b. Hook the rail-mounting bracket tabs into the appropriate holes on the rear of
the rack, and insert one M-6 screw (2).
c. Align the front mounting rail holes to the rack, and insert two M-6
screws (3).
d. Repeat the steps above to install the other mounting rail.

3. Attach the cable management arm brace to each mounting rail, making sure the
cable access hole faces the right side of the rack.
NOTE: The cable access hole must be positioned on the right side of the rack to allow
appropriate routing of the cables.
a. Flex the mounting rail out slightly to allow the cable management arm brace
to be inserted.
b. Align the screw holes on the cable management arm brace with the screw
holes on the mounting rails (1).
c. Insert one 6-32 screw on each side (2).
d. Tighten the screws (3).

4. Install the 1U Integrated Keyboard Drawer on the mounting rails.
a. Fully extend the mounting rails until they lock into place (1).
b. Place the 1U Integrated Keyboard Drawer on the mounting rails (2).
c. Align the screw holes on the 1U Integrated Keyboard Drawer with the holes
on the mounting rails, and secure it with two 6-32 screws on each side (3).
